  6. I would suggest that companies have lost so much revenue over the last 2 years that they would now be looking for any loophole to get out of repaying money to customers. They lose a little bit more money by processing a refund as well in wages to the people involved. Even though lots of companies in the world said that they were to help customers, that might have been the case during that time, but costs were inevitably going to go up after things start getting back to normal. (and we are still a way off that, I would suggest)

  9. My favourite cheese is Applewood, yum. I don't like stinky blue cheese and I certainly wouldn't be eating any cheese-fly poop cheeze. Spoiler for the weak of stomach:
  10. Don't blame you @Bibs. I think these travel companies have deteriorated since getting back to work after covid. I don't know if it's the staff, management or both. I wouldn't want to be travelling by public freight right now.
  11. I found some time today . Removed the caliper and the piston from it, which came out a lot easier than before. Used some 2000 wet & dry folded and rubbed down on itself to make it a higher grit as it's all I had to hand. Some fine honing and the piston is looking good. Did the same to the bore of the caliper which although an improvement I didn't want to take too much off so some marks remain which I don't think are detrimental. The internal seal is removed in the image below. Checked the disc's trueness using my cheap-ass dial gauge I have about ~0.1mm out of true, that's not including areas of 'corrosion' where the brake pads affixed themselves to the disc when the car was parked up for ages. I'd say that okay. The aforementioned corrosion on the disc from where the pads sat for (far) too long. The is below the surface of the disc. All assembled, bled and tested with the brake pedal and hand brake. Ignore the cooked state of the brake pad, I'll get to that later! Initially it's free as a bird but then it does snatch after applying the brake pedal, but a slight movement of the caliper and it's free again. Another test drive and...it's still damn too hot! Compared to it's off-side neighbour: TL;DR - The piston and caliper are definitely no longer seized, I think the problem is now the brake pads. They are worn to such a state that they are pulling the moving part of the caliper off true not allowing it to return properly and thus creates the friction and heat between the disc and the pads. I could swap the pads from the other side to prove it (and give the other side some gas mark 9 for 30 minutes treatment too) or just get some new pads. Does anyone know what pads are equivalent so I can pick them up locally rather than paying the cost of the pads in delivery?
  12. First 800 miles done, 17 hours in the car. Thanks Ryanair. First and last time I've ever booked them. While the news has reported that their staff have been on strike today, the email cancelling our flights blamed French ATC. They don't have to offer compensation if it's a labour dispute, unless it's their own staff. I'll be looking into this a little more when we're back.

I’m sure there will be plenty here that like myself enjoyed poking round the 4 cars at Goodwood currently. Surprised myself by really liking the silver car which previously would have been my last choice and also very taken by the red one. The issue was that when I climbed in the red car I wasn’t comfy in the seats particularly around the headrest and the back of my neck. My current car has fixed seats yet I’ve never felt the need to alter them in any way. People on Lotus stand told me these were the final production seats. Now panicking on if I could get them adjusted to make them comfy. Could be a deal breaker for me. Anyone else got views on the seats, colours etc after seeing these cars?
  15. The Danbo cheese, in @Sparky's post it is Danbo ++, is made under heavy influence by the dutch Gouda. The ++ means it is very mature. Danbo is found with various maturations. The taste goes from mild to very strong!
  16. I wouldnlt fret too much on noise. It won;t take long to find out it we can hold the valve open to remove the last cat, etc.

JYS has never come across as the most sagely of chaps, if various clips of F1 coverage I've seen since his retirement are representative. LH has shown masterful form at the wheel, full stop. Tough sledding this year with the sub-par Merc, will be a test of character. I will be watching MV going forward with interest, curious whether he rises above the punk sensibilities on show thus far.
  19. I am confident the flexplate ( 2 piece assembly ) was specified when Lotus found flex in the 2.2 stroke crank in need of mitigation, so if you're still at 907 2 litre capacity should be fine with the simple flywheel. Cheers
  20. I saw that thread. I didn't know that the flexplate flywheel appeared so early on - I'd assumed it was only on the Excel. Every day is a school day! πŸ™‚ Pete
  21. When I lived in Uganda, I used to buy Goma cheese on a weekly basis - from Zaire (as it was then), DR Congo now. Here's an article from 2014 about it The rare art of cheese-making in DR Congo - BBC News

  23. If the fella is still looking he’s found his unicorn. Cracking looking car. I luckily had 2 bites of the cherry when I bought mine. I called the dealer the afternoon the ad was placed but someone had beat me to it by an hour. I left my number and 3 weeks later the dealer called me as the buyer got cold feet due to the rising fuel prices. I didn’t hang around then and committed over the phone, subject to a visual inspection later that week and am so happy I did.
  24. I can thoroughly recommend the Clyde tunnel and the underpass tunnel at Copse corner, Silverstone. I've even had people chase me over to LDC or CL stands to say "WTF is that?" 😯
  25. I hope you can come to an amicable deal. Happy to put any Lotus seller and buyer together The Evora is brilliant by the way, if you didn't already know it? πŸ˜‰
