My exhaust was almost rusted completely through when I bought the car. Crazy thing was that there were holes (rusted through) on the top of the pipes, not the bottom which are right next to the bottom of the chassis. I did catch it in time so no real damage was done.
I installed a complete Stainless steel exhaust from the headers back including the Supertapp mufflers which are actually tunable for noise and back pressure.
Custom headers out of mild steel were ceramic, metallic coated inside and out for a rust free exhaust system.This step not only keeps them from rusting, but also lowers engine bay temps by some 70 F as well as dressing the headers up making them look much better. The best part however is that it keeps the temps up inside the exhaust which helps scavenge exhaust gases and actually gives about 6 more hp on this engine.
