  2. Loving my all weather Sports Racer (I would put some photos up but I can't work it out!) Are the pedals adjustable? I'd like to set the accelerator pedal slightly further down from the brake so as the brake is pushed, I can use the right side of my foot to match the engine speed to the lower gear. I've put my head down in the footwell and can't see any adjustability. My current solution would be to bend the accelerator pedal arm.. Any other recommendations?
  3. Those protectors might be just enough to make life difficult on a front assembly!
  4. Audeze LCD-4z and LCD-1 Now on Demo! Hi All, It has been a while since we have done a headphone blog, to be honest I have been re-assessing our headphone side of things and have decided to refine what we offer so we now focus on a few main brands, basically the brands everyone wants to listen to, so we have had a bit of a clear out but we still have over 40 pairs of headphones on demo so we should still have something for everyone. We have also decided to take down the dedicated headphone website, mainly as it is hard enough to keep one website up to date but it became too difficult to maintain both so we have kept our Highend Headphones webpage as a link to all our headphones that are listed on HiFi Lounge. Anyway the point of this blog is that part of the re-focusing is to fill out the ranges of the brands that we have decided to keep representing so we have added to demo 2 very different ends of the Audeze headphone range with the £399 LCD-1 and the £3599 LCD-4z, the LCD-1 is a great sounding headphone but I am really hoping that they release a closed back version soon as that will make a great replacement for the OPPo PM-3 that was discontinued some time ago, as for the LCD-4z, this really is a worthy opponent for the Focal Utopia's as it is a great all rounder headphone and is extremely easy to drive making it easier to accommodate compared to the standard LCD-4, personally I prefer the presentation of the LCD-4z to the original LCD-4 and we have had a lot more enquiries about the 4z. So there we go, we are still loving our headphones but after a few years it is time to refocus, to celebrate we will be having a headphone open day shortly so watch this space. https://hifilounge.co.uk/product-category/brands/audeze/ Cheers, Paul.

  6. Today
  7. Kit arrived and all good. I ordered the one with rubber protectors on to save damaging the paint on the springs
  8. Brian Angus wrote an article about sealing these some years ago in Club Lotus magazine. He mentioned ambient temperature when you do this work....Many weep as they are adhered in too low a temperature (EG. A cold workshop). Brian was senior vehicle engineer at Lotus for 35 years. Justin
  9. I have just ordered parts yesterday and had added PG06P. I guess that's the stuff we are talking about?
  10. Oooops!!! I thought I was meant to have all red circles on all of the time whilst driving to make sure my car is working properly. Sometimes when in top gear a change down just to make sure they stay on constantly. Am I doing something wrong ?? M.
  11. It needs to be a zero-thickness anaerobic sealant, and there is one specified by Lotus, SJ sell it. It's not cheap but if not zero-thickness it will mean setting shims is a pig of a job as you'll have them determined using no sealant, put the goo in place, put carriers on and suddenly the gaps are all too large.
  12. A few pics from my archive. On 25 October 2003 - the day after the final commercial landings - some staff attended a final viewing of 2 of the fleet (coincidentally the 2 I'd flown on) in the hangar. This was the last chance to get up close before they were decommissioned and delivered to their respective resting places. A sad time, as we always thought we'd manage a last-minute rescue deal, but it was not to be.
  13. Not to get too bogged down with backstory: I've been on an endurance racing team that runs a heavily modified Elite for about 9 years now. The Elite has grown near and dear to my heart, so I've had an eye out for a half-way decent, road-going one for years. Last March, I had a work trip to the North Carolina/Virginia area (to drive a Radical SR3 at Virginia International Raceway, but that's another story ). I have two brothers, one of whom lives in that area, so rather than a quick out-and-back trip, as my coworkers did, I scheduled my trip a few days early to spend time with family. Not even 48 hours before I was to start the trip, I saw this post on Facebook: It just so happened that my *other* brother (I have 2) lives a couple towns over from the seller of the Elite; and that was about a 5 hour drive from my work meeting. When I landed a day or so later, rather than visiting brother #1 as planned, I pointed the rental car south for 5 hours and visited brother #2. A few hours later, I was the proud owner of one of the brownest cars you've ever seen. As luck would have it, brother #2 had room to store the car while I went back to work and arranged for it to be shipped to its new home in Los Angeles. Timing wasn't great, as I was in the middle of a DIY home renovation (one that took over a year, but that's yet another story), so the Elite has sat mostly on the back burner until recently. Now that the house is complete, the Elite is getting more attention, so I thought I'd start this thread as a place to store updates as they come and while they're fresh in my head. More to come...
  14. Lots of choices these days. Greatly improved products compared to what was available in the 1980s. My favourite is Hylomar 2000 Gasket.

  17. Drove the car today a short few miles to cinema with my daughter then home via shell garage so not a long run out but all was well no light and throttle pedal was as normal no chance to get these red circles as traffic and road not suitable also had my daughter in car so I do go very steady next week away in Newcastle for most of week so won’t drive Evora then week after will possibly take Evora to one of my sites next door to Chapman estate near Hethel but not sure ?
  18. Hi Cyril, I'd start a new thread regarding brake discs. It's good to keep threads on track with their title subject. Hi Alan, For the adventurous engineering type, the Toyota EPS route can be a good little project, can be completed for under £100 and is reported to work very well. Definitely not for everyone though. The cost of a conversion using later Lotus parts would likely be huge if you could do it at all. Andy.
  19. If this started after the hose was disconnected then I suspect the hose is not connected properly or it has a split. I would check that next.
  20. I had a similar problem this summer and it turned out to be the throttle jack as @jonwat suggests. I've just left it unplugged since, it's easy enough to get to, on the forward carb pushing a lever attached to the end of the throttle spindle. Also found and fixed a snapped throttle return spring (between the carbs) but that didn't seem to be causing any problems strangely!
  21. Hi Sailorbob how are you? I loosened a hose beside my starter to gain access to starter. I started the car for a few seconds when I got stater working but hadn’t the hose connected. I now the hose connected and starting cold the car rises rpm with in 30seconds or so. All other cables seem to be fine. Would the car eventually clear the intake from the hose that I had disconnected or what would I do to rectify. Really appreciate help here guys

  23. Why not install the power steering from later model Esprit's, or are the parts obsolete? I'd like power steering too but not keen on this particular solution.
  24. It is but things can bog down just as much as in England. Try selling a house in England and buying in Scotland like I just did. As the law is different in both countries and neither specialise in both, I had to have a solicitor in England to sell and another solicitor in Scotland to buy. Double trouble! I also had dead sloths as as buyers (buying to let so in no real rush plus they used "internet solicitors" which are cheap for a reason) and my seller's solicitor dragged their feet on a crucial document right to the day before, while the removal truck was making it's way down to load up. I will say my estate agent in England (Purple Bricks) was great, they just did their job at a fraction of the cost and my solicitor in Scotland was great too but she wasn't cheap. Still managed to buy in 12 weeks but I feel it would have been longer if I hadn't constantly badgered other people's providers. One estate agent used me like a pawn and cost me over £500 in flights and hotels for the family to view a house that was already 90% of the way to being completed. Used my offer to spur the other party's solicitor in to completing quicker.
  25. 'Black and Gold' the JPS story has the picture of it at the 74 British GP at Brands Hatch. 'Lotus the Legend' has the 1981 picture, again at Brands Hatch.(not a great shot of the Elite but its in the background). 1974 GP photo also available on page 22 of the Elite/Eclat/Excel picture thread on this forum.
  26. Very interesting. What does the 410 give you that the Spyder didn’t or did you just flip the Spyder for a profit? i too came from a number of 911s and can’t believe just how much more fun the 410 is. Oh, how did you upgrade your lights?
  27. I had a spate of Porsches and got a new 718 Spyder... didn't gell and got rid for a 410.... Love it and yes I have the override button works in all modes.. fitted by Silverstone. I think it doesn't sometimes work in race and sport at lower revs dependant on software version.. Great car, so far fitted better lights, stereo speakers and need a harness bar.. I'm debating a 2ubular back box but to be hoenst it sounds really good.
  28. Diary update just to keep things ticking along. Feedback from the guys who did the mapping was really positive. They checked it all over and reported a few minor things as well as having to replace a cracked thermostat housing. Main items I need to sort are: Engine bay wiring and pipework untidy and insecure Heat shielding required around ECU and wiring in exhaust area Gear shift stiff and reverse not available - Any body know the best place to source new cables from? small oil leak from gear box end plate Brakes had no pressure under peddle hand brake no pressure So importantly (given I knew nothing about the conversion) the clutch works fine and the wiring is all working fine, fans cut in when they should and even the cam phase relay worked. Car is now in my garage and up on stands. Wheels are off and ready to go for refurb and new tyres. I had a right run-about trying to get a full set of Verdestine Sportrack and ended up with only one rear tyre and thinking I'd be able to get another elsewhere but was proven wrong! I now have two fronts and one rear sat waiting for collection to be returned to vender. Instead I managed to get a full set of Conti PremiumContact and even they are starting to get scarce. Underneath looks realy good. I'll try to get some photos up at the weekend. All the suspension is freshly painted, brake lines renewed, hoses all new, springs and dampers new, calipers look to have been refurbished too. Aside from the issues the garage found I need to: Sort out the droopy door - Any advice or links to threads or replacement part sales appreciated fit an imobiliser (insurance requirement) adjust the closure panel gaps and latches (eek) I'm almost through the list of other jobs I promised my wife I'd get done before starting on the Esprit. So I expect to start working through the above list of problems soon and knock a couple of jobs down every other weekend with my goal being to MOT and shake down the car by the end of May!
