  2. Posted this on another forum but it's worth posting here in these troubled times. I'd must like to report that I drove the Evora yesterday and loved it. Dark thoughts with Covid an' all have stopped me using the Evora as intended and it has sat in the barn for the best part of 2 years, and I've been thinking of selling it. The BMW had to go in for some work and yesterday I took Mrs Bruss 20 miles to drop her off and pick it up. On the way back I properly drove the Evora. Summary is Local town with the worst road surface I've encountered outside of Belgium, makes the

  7. So, time to summarize seven years of Evora ownership. We bought the car in March 2014, an ex demonstrator at Lotus Gothenburg. By then it had 5,000 km on the odometer. The car was one of two Evora that they bought for the showroom in 2012 when they opened their business. We sold the car in July this year. By then we had driven it 100,000 km. That included one trip to Italy and two to UK. Some 20 track days and a lot of other local events. Plus using it as daily driver during the Summer. By then the car looked like this. Various upgrades and modifications included a full L

  8. I'd forgotten about this thread, but this am I decided to hose down the Evora before putting it away in the barn. Mrs Bruss remarked how good the car looked and I said something about all the girls say so, it's my chick magnet etc. Two minutes later out new post girl pulled up and got out of the van with a broad smile and exclaimed it's a Lootus (French) and drooled all over it . Mrs Bruss pretended not to notice.

  13. Hi all, Having posted an initial post to ask for some buying advice on Lotus Esprit, I missed the V8 advertised on eBay (not sure of seller was/is a forum member), before I started looking at S4s and GT3. Long story short, I was going to give the S4s a miss because it was advertised at UK Sports Cars and I was concerned about the feedback posted in this forum. Fortunately, I then found out from your reply to my post that it was Nick's car @fflyingdog and decided to buy it after I had a chat with him. After all, the car must have been treasured and cared for if it was part of the fa

  15. Yesterday I finally picked up the car and drove it home, 500 km What can I say... great car, amazing sound, fun to drive. A good friend of mine drove the second half of the trip and it was outstanding to see and hear the car from outside! On the way home we took the first pictures at the German race track, Hockenheimring. By the way, I will start some kind of a blog (https://evorablog.com) for technical documentations & details about the car and may write some How-To's. First thing to do: getting a new radio that is capable of Apple Car Play

This post was approved by @Bibs before anyone asks Good evening everyone, I've recently started a reverse engineering business focused around faithful reproduction of legacy autoparts, called Novorota. With the help of some incredibly kind people on this forum we've managed to get our first products into production, this is an incredible community! We would like to offer you our billet machined rear hub carriers for S1/S2/S2.2 and S4/V8 models. The hubs will be made out of Aluminum 6061-T6. We took incredibly detailed 3D scans of C082D4142K and F079D4001F parts and recreated t

  18. As the number of electric vehicles rise, the number of ICE cars fall thereby reducing emissions on our roads. You will then get a "tipping point" where emissions cannot increase to breach any "environmental limits" as there will be too few ICE cars on the road to create the emissions. At that point the "noise" will die down and I am sure the much, much smaller volume of ICE cars will continue to run and petrol will be sold as it is now. Whereas now the EV charger is at the back of the garage, in future that will be where the petrol pump will be. Petrol will be much dearer (you need volume to

  20. So I finally had a response from my local Dealer, and I'm pretty stoked, he says that hes going to check with his rep to see what or if any incentives are available. On or about November he suspects theyll have something in stock, when he gets back to me Monday, I'll be trying to take a day of leave to head down and see if we can come to an agreement on securing it in my name. I know it's not a big deal for most of you where Lotus is in abundance, but I'm pretty stoked and wanted to share.

  21. The engine is in, bit of a pain doing it on your own constantly up and down checking nothing is fouling but done I jacked the car up 3” higher than when I removed it which made a big difference. One hell of an angle in the end and lost some gearbox oil from the speedo drive. Finally on the mounts although I need to remove the RH mount again as the AC hoses should run below looking at it after, no hardship to sort out though. So nice to have it back on its skates and check out the ride height when still not fully built so well pleased with tho

  23. i loved my evora i really did.., but after a while found it underwhelming for my needs.. i kept it 4 years , i dont have work place to go so i drove only at weekends for enjoyment. attending shows etc etc. but it was really just too fast to extract any sense of speed thrill legally on teh roads.. almost even boring to a point.. its just too good.. did every thing perfectly, never went wrong, cost me peanuts to run (thank you H111) but i just used it less, and got less sensation from doing so.. i modded as much as i could, keeping it oem, red leather , stereo, exhaust , wheels.. it wa

  25. Now its well known on this forum that my other half detests the Evora and in my 2-3 yr of ownership we have one major weekend trip and about a half dozen short trips to shops however last Sunday went to B&Q so I had to drive Evora and knew it was going to be uncomfortable journey with all the screams and moans that I was going to get as I drove too noisy and too fast (ie 50mph) on dual carriageway I was shocked to hear her pointing out as we pulled into a Aldi car park that she saw a dad with his young son in pushchair almost fall over with excitement as we drove past them.

  30. Been a busy couple weekends building the engine and refurbishing all the parts, cleaning and painting where required. I’ve just about gone as far as I can now until the distributor arrives so I can prime the oil pump then fit the new timing belt. I have filled the gearbox with redline and put around 3.5 litres in the engine just to prime the pump then final fill once back in the chassis. The engine has had all the gaskets replaced and valve shimming is all nicely in spec, a new 3 piece clutch should solve the drive issue which by hand selecting is all fine now. Engine bay i

  33. So my new exhaust system has been a bit of a nightmare, but finally at a solution I think. First of all, the link pipe Jim made was a bit too long, so we had to cut it down. Not the end of the world and we just cut about an inch off it and it was in the right place. Bette to have a pipe too long than too short! When I was at Komo-tec getting the 460 kit installed, I changed from the factory valve controller to a wireless remote one. I wanted to change back to the factory valve controller so it was operated on the steering column, plus would open over 4500rpm and at 80% or more thrott

  34. Hi , I traded my S4s which I'd owned for over 17 years for a 2010 Evora NA , and I'm still smiling like a Cheshire cat . Don't get me wrong I loved cherished adored my Esprit but the Evora makes the Esprit look like a kit car (no offence to any current Esprit owners) . As people have said the engine is Toyota and in 40 years of riding (thrashing jap bikes) I've never had one blow up .The Evora in my opinion is a real plug and play, I factored in a clutch if and when and its still cheaper than the Esprit , which I spent a small fortune just to keep on the road and up together . For me I h

  38. Just thought I'd share - what great photos these are. I'm assuming that the S1 is not privately owned, but if it is, then what a lucky owner. What I really love about this is the link that Lotus is making to the Esprit. It says a lot, I think, about where the company is in terms of looking both to its history, as well as forward into the future. Just awesome.

  39. It’s not possible to say who is the GOAT because they all raced in different eras, but I think a case can be made for Fangio, Clark, Senna, Schumacher and Hamilton. Either way, Hamilton is right there with the greatest. To claim that Hamilton has had an “unfair advantage” ignores the fact he won the title in 2017 and 2018 when Ferrrari had the faster car. Mercedes titles in those two years were down to the fact they were the best team and had the best driver, but not necessarily the best car. To be fair to Sir Jackie, he’s perfectly entitled to his opinion and if I was forced to pick

  40. I had a 12c for 2 years and 22k miles and really enjoyed it. They have steel brakes so much cheaper to run on brakes. My 570 is a track pack car which has been to MSO for some more track biased mods. Blindingly fast and great on the limit but after nearly 2 years I am ready for a change. My local track is Brands and I think the Evora will be well suited. I only need this to be a toy and I have been contemplating buying a 3 Eleven and having a custom screen made so I don't need to use a crash helmet. For a toy and the odd track day I think

  41. Spent two days doing the SWC300 Sun-Mon. Fantastic roads and scenery everywhere and some lovely villages to visit. We went clockwise starting and finishing at Dumfries. Sunday provided great weather and a nice farmers market at Kirkcudbright. We had a stopover at Stranraer (not recommended). Day two was rain all the way. We went north to Ayr before heading inland and eventually covering some EVO roads over Leadhills etc. A brilliant couple of days but only pics from day one due to weather.
