  1. Despite weather which would have had Noah reaching for his tools the first TLF National Lotus Meet at Mercedes Benz World/Brooklands was a great success with over 130 cars and 200 people in attendance. Not letting the weather dampen our spirits the beauty of the location is that there's plenty to do for everyone inside as well as admire the 25 car concours and single lineup of over 100 Lotus cars outside. With all of the facilities of MBW and Brooklands Museum available to visitors including the Silver Arrows display team and driving experiences everyone had a terrific time and with the added

  7. better to get this kind of problem fixed sooner rather than later, since the coolant will often mix with the oil, and can trash the bearings, and much worse.

  9. Not that I'm bragging but all of my suspension bits cost £70 for sand blasting and powder coating (front and rear!) - I did have to take the suspension bushes out though and they have cost considerably more to replace!

  11. Jason It's just a figure of speech. I always remind people to be sensible and be responsible for their own style of driving. There is absolutely no pressure to keep up with the the car in front and you should not feel intimidated by a car behind you. It's your licence and pride at stake so easy on the loud pedal.

  13. I am low-tech too. I wash in paraffin ( I get it from the local Scats store), clean with a wire brush or emery cloth, but then leave in a bucket of Bilt Hambler DeOx-C. You need plenty of crystals in the mix, and remove as much solid rust as you can, and leave it for several days at room temperature, (a week even) but the results are terrific - better than sand blasting. The solution can be reused quite a few times too.

  15. Not wanting to knock any of the other marques that you are restoring, but 70s and 80s lotus restorations are rare things. There are probably only ever a handful being carried out at any one time anywhere in the word!

  19. For super easy rust removal put Electrolysis rust removal in the search box at the top of the page. You want the page started March 11th 2011 No more scrubbing with a wire brush and will clean back to bare metal. I posted up some pics and have used this method ever since I picked up on it here. Next time I need to do a load I will get a plastic dustbin and chop up a washing machine drum to line all around the inside for best effect.

  20. Buy a fake, they're much cheaper, don't tell her, and spend the rest of the money on another Lotus. I think I'm going to have to go into the advice business.
