  2. Charlie Did you fix reverse? It is usually simply that the reversing light switch on the back end of the gearbox has been screwed in too far. I suggest you slack it right off, select reverse, then re-tighten until the reversing light just comes on. Chances are strong that'll fix it. And at a cost of 0p. Herc

  4. Before you start to nail that all back together, source an allen headed bolt to replace the one which sits behind the pulley. It saves so much time for future fiddling. As for the thermostat, you can't tell solely from a visual inspection whether they are any good or not. Yes, you can do the dunk test in a jug of hot water, but given their low cost it's usually more decisive to just replace them with a known correct part.

  5. On a side note... You have done so much proper work on this car... The refurbishing of the caps looks good... But...the badge is wrong. You have got the modern type of the Logo but need the old one without serifes. I know you are keen about detailing, that's why I only notice it

  8. Should be easy. Aren't most Esprit owners used to pulling their car a Art into a 1,000 pieces and putting it back together again? (On the iPad so I can't add a "get me coat" emoticon)

  10. First ever picture outside my drive.[br][br][br][br]Everything system except the cooling seems to be working, she's just over heating sitting between 90 and 140 so around 110 which is freaking me out a little, would prefer to see the gauge at 90 before I really push it. Brakes are average, even though I bled them this morning, they are gunna need adjusting, pedal is very low. [br][br]I have to say on it's maiden run the onlookers are either puzzled or smiling, had my first thumbs up so that was nice. I felt like I was hoovering up the road, twigs, paper, ants, flees. 11. Also included in that price is the knowledge, experience and skillset of the person working on your car. Depending on the person that could be exceptionally expensive or exceptionally cheap.

  12. "Normal" glass fibre repair kits use polyester resin. This is the usual resin used during lamination and production of glass fibre components. It doesn't adhere as well as epoxy to fully cured glass fibre parts....epoxy resins are better for this. I would recommend that you get all the books and information possible from Wests before you do anything...there are also quite a few books on glass fibre repairs and "How to do it". Think through what you will do beforehand and get everything prepared...if using cloth or tissue or mat, have it all cut to size and ready...once you have mixed the resin

  14. ballast wire breaking down and giving less recistance than it should, and frying the coil? Does the coil get super hot? (not sure all S1's used a ballast system and coil, but I think MOST did.....) http://www.vtr.org/maintain/ballast.shtml The other possibility is that the ballast arrangement is fine, but someone has fitted a non-ballast type coil and its producing too high a voltage and frying your lumenition.
