  1. More pictures for you in full sun. It looks amazing! I assumed it would look lighter in colour but actually looks darker. Glad we went for red leather rather than red alcantara. The alcantara is ok in black but looks old before its time in red. IMOmy favourite pic as it looks black but won't flip round the right way. couple more in early morning sun

  2. Even before picking up my Evora N/A last Friday i had been pre warned that i would need a sports exhaust over the stock one and so had ordered a 2bular non-valve system (with carbon tips - much to the dismay of some people on here although i think they look great!) based on recommendations from Jamie at B&C. Having had the car over the weekend without it (much to my initial sulking that the exhaust wouldn't be ready till the following week...) it only confirmed that to make me really really love this car it needed to be louder. In fact as an ex TVR owner, much much louder. Well today i excitedly made my way back to B&C to get the 2bular fitted and all i can say is WOW. It has made the car come alive. Immediately from start up the sound is throaty and gurgles nicely as you pull away. Now the car sounds like it looks and gets people looking at what is coming up the road rather than turning their heads as you go past as they realise how stunning the Evora looks. It doesn't quite pop and bang on gear shifts like the TVR did but it's not far from it (and having kids in the back it is probably wise!) but it has certainly made me totally fall for this car. If anyone is wondering if they should get a sports exhaust and if so what one, well i cannot recommend the work of Jim at 2bular any higher. Cheers (hopefully the attachments below worked and confirm my post!) Stock Exhaust.MOV 2bular.MOV

  5. Went into the Building Society today and paid off my mortgage. Amazing how being mortgage free, and knowing your home is fully your own, and your wife and kids are sorted if anything happens to you, makes you feel. Just got another 18 years to go to get my state pension and bus pass now.... That's if they are still available in 2034!!!

  7. Thanks! Yes they do....every morning I get "are we going in the sports car today mummy?" "Horray!" When they hear yes. I hope my account of use it as a family car is helping some people to convince other halves with kids that it is an awesome idea. I did find out yesterday that my husbands plan had backfired.......he was secretly hoping I wouldn't like it with all the hassles of kids and boot space ( no hassles at all!) that I would go back to using my Honda CRV and he'd get to use it on a daily basis. Ha ha ha! No chance. ?

  9. ^^^^ Ironically, probably some will see him inside as a bit of hero as it was a Police Officer he so coldly murdered. It just seems to be the way some people think and by the look of him in that photo he just thinks it's all a big show, a laugh. I do worry for the future and believe we need to beef up the Police, and the Courts, and take a much much harsher view on crimes of this nature, knife crimes, etc. Can't we just identify an island somewhere about 20miles off the coast where we can just throw these guys out of a passing helicopter and leave them to get on with it! Much cheaper than putting them in a warm cell, with SKY TV etc.

  10. I agree with Hopo, there's something not right here. Have tou tried th same thing with the front wheels and the engine off? If you can spin the offside wheel and the nearside remains stationary it will point to the nearside helical diff locking pin AO825413F being the culprit. This can be fitted either with gearbox in or out of the car but when in situ the car needs to be raised greater than 45 degrees on the nearside to prevent oil loss. Trevor?

  11. Best try and sell the car quick. Obv there are issues so I'll give you £500 but let's keep this one quiet eh?

  12. No, that's definitely not right, hopo. Bring it round tomorrow with £3K in used notes and I'll have it fixed in a jiffy.

  13. So, the 'Lucky lady' has her car back and what a lovely sunny day to enjoy my fabulous car! My day started with an awesome compliment. Quote of the day from a man in the preschool car park who came over to tell me...."THAT has to be the BEST 'mum's car' ever! it's so rock and roll."I was positively proud. After dropping off my daughter I then pushed my "make my car louder button" that opens up the exhaust baffles. what a lovely rush you get from the growls and purrs that vibrate through the car. Oh how I've missed my car. My daughter made me laugh a lot by waving at all the pedestrians passing by. They did a Double take when they saw a small person in the back. I believe that parking in the toddler/baby bays at the supermarket may get some remarks as they'll believe an idiot has parked there so they don't get their doors hit by other cars, instead of actually having to get kids out of the car! Feel I need a sign "kids on board!" Please let me know what picture you want me to post.

  14. More new Esprit news?.........like buses none for ages and then 2 come at once ? To give a bit of background (and apologies if you've read this elsewhere as I've been banging on about this deal happening for months) I have been longing for a Calypso Red early Turbo Esprit with black interior since I was 12 and read the Fast Lane long term test in 1984. I bought a red Turbo back in 2008 (an '86 model with body coloured everything and magnolia interior but never loved it - lavished time and money on it......but never loved it) but it wasn't right for me so sold it. I then in 2012 learned about a 1 owner '82 red Turbo Esprit with only 18,000 miles being available to buy and started the negotiations.........fast forward 3.5 years and at long last the deal is done...... Oh and nearly forgot - it's only the very first Wet Sump Turbo produced for the UK market?.....as confirmed by Andy Graham at Lotus This was the inspiration : Here are a couple of photos of the new purchase : As Sod's law would have it I buy my Esprit S4s and then the seller of the red Turbo only goes and tells me he's ready to let it go........oh well can't complain as I'm finally there. Should be up in Scotland in the next week or so. Has been off the road since 1993 with still some work to do to get it roadworthy and match fit but we will get there with the help of the boys at Craig Moncrieff Cars (ex-Murray Lotus).......can't wait!!!!???

  16. Firstly a massive thank you to Jamie for sorting us out a brilliant deal on our first Evora; the last UK IPS S Evora We have always fancied the MJK/RB car, and while we wait for the roadster IPS 400, and after much discussion decided to take the plunge and see at first hand what all the fuss is about. WTF, the Evora is awesome even in this (old) version, it is a delight to drive, yes nearly 200miles on the first day of ownership a very nice stablemate to our Exige V6 roadster, yes two very happy Lotus owners

  17. Some of you move have seem this before, but here's an interesting documentary about the making of the Lotus Elite & Eclat, featuring Colin Chapman. Also featuring possibly the most English person seen or heard, taking it for a test drive! Enjoy :-)

  18. As part of my service for the Evora S today I had the latest gearbox and ECU software flashed to the car. It's been a noticeable difference. MUCH smoother in auto mode, no more clunking between P/N/R/D and much better shifting across the range. Whole car feels like a new item. Moreover, I appear to now be getting 22mpg?!? It's brilliant. So pleased with it. I would encourage anyone with the IPS gearbox to get to a dealer soon as poss and get it done. Well done Lotus - hats off to you for continuing to develop older models when the new car is already out there on sale. Love that!

  19. would be too good for this little shit. Cold blooded & unnecessary murder of a father of two Police Officer and he thinks it's funny. I hope he has a short, miserable life left and doesn't burden another person with his cretinous existence. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-34456424

  20. Tell your kids you've invented a fun new game called "She's not my mum" and get them to play along. Wait until your wife packs the kids in the car and drives them off to school. Phone 999 and report that some strange and dangerous looking woman has just stolen your car and kidnapped the kids. When she gets arrested you and the kids say you have no idea who this random lady is. Can't fail as no copper would ever believe a bloke woukd be stupid enough to buy an Evora 400 for his wife to take the kids to school in. I mean, a lady 400 owner. Unbelievable. Only downside is you'll have to get a helper in for a few hours a week to tidy up the place and prepare the meals for the next week. Job done. Minimal fuss and financial outlay! God, I hope your Lucky Lady never reads this and if she does, she's never heard about Mrs. Bobbit..... This was not my idea. Who are you again....

  27. Don't know what Difflow use but 'our' UK guy uses 1.5mm alloy, which judging by the stated weights of the finished products must be about the same - Difflow quote 9lbs versus 4kg for the 'local' item. Andy, as you're interested in something other than black, will this fit the bill?..................

  28. I'm in the San Francisco area, so don't believe Bell and Colvill would be an option for me Since the car doesn't come to the states until January the 2 dealers near me that I've spoken to knew less about the car than I did just from jumping on forums and reading the lotus site. The ones here are also dealerships that carry Lamborghini, Bentley, Ferrari, etc. so I think for those guys the Lotus mark doesn't rank as far as putting forward any effort to learn about the car. That said, its a pain in the a$$ to import a car into California from another state, so I will just have to bite the bullet and give commission to one of 2 disinterested sales guys at some point. The wife IS looking forward to me getting the Evora 400, but mostly so I'll stop showing her every video and pic of it online, and because she will inherit my BMW M3 as her daily driver. Our 4 year old son will be getting dropped off and picked up in style with either parent

  29. I'm quite pleased with that if it went for somewhere in the region of £15K. I'd consider mine to be better than just 'usable' condition although it's far from concourse and has had paint, but it's very tidy and retains the original interior. That one had nasty door card speakers and the paint looked a bit tatty. I gave £12.5K for mine less than 2 years ago and I'd like to think the value is approaching £20K now and rising. Almost makes up for the massive hit I took when I lost my Sport 350!!

  31. Ah, the CPS, I often refer to them as the Criminal Protection Society as they do seem to make some odd recommendations and deals. Too much political correctness in this country (don't get me started on that bloody soft experiment in liberalism and PC called the European Court of Justice - ha, my arse!) and a complete lack of the appreciation that as we live in a democratic "free" part of the world we have a huge amount of freedom of choice in what we do, and do not, decide to do. Contrary to the bullshit from social workers,,lefty do gooders and middle class liberals and the like if you make the wrong decisions then you need to accept the punishment. Though I for one do not condone Capital Punishment, I absolutely see nothing wrong in scum like this being thrown into a single 6ft by 6ft cell concrete cell, with only a small opening for fresh air, and a hole in the floor for a toilet, a blanket, a cold running tap and a letterbox in the wall for food. Then give them 25 years of this solitary existence to consider the wisdom of their choices and with any luck they won't ever leave that new home. I know I'm getting soft in my old age, please cut me some slack with that.

  32. I sold my 2-eleven about 18 months ago and I have to say I regret doing it Like most, I sold it through lack of use but once it's gone you realise that although it may not get used much, when it is used the highs you get are very high indeed. The Exige V6 Roadster is a pretty damn good replacement though, and even if the high isn't quite as high as the 2-eleven, it does get a lot more use. If I had more space and money I'd have both! The only car I regret selling:

  34. 185mph sports car for the school run, priceless! The kids will always remember it. In fact I can still remember a run to school in the back of a gold Eclat in the early 80's. That's where it all started for me!

  35. As it happens, yes I do. I didn't want to post them up this early and get you all excited only to perhaps dash your hopes later but since you insist, here's one he prepared earlier. He makes them with as few or as many elements as you want, although this is reflected in the price obviously. Hopefully, he will be able to do something for us as his prices for the ones he regularly manufactures and stocks for more 'common' cars are way way better than the Difflow ones for our cars - we're talking here of sub-£200 for a 6 element one for say a Westfield/Caterham type.

  36. Played it for an hour last night and have to say I am totally underwhelmed. They have turned what was an intelligent thinking mans game into a first/3rd person shooter like COD. All you do is move around in a ridiculous fashion and people miss you. Grenade them aaaaand boom. In the old game you could station yourself on a cliff or hide away in foliage, in this it highlights players so you can't do that and anyway you struggle to snipe people because they are doing a ridiculous dance that is not only improbable but defies human movement. What they need to do is make movement more realistic, dance around like an idiot and you fall over or break a leg or at least make it so you can't shoot cause you are disoriented from such rapid sideways movements. As you can tell, not impressed and won't be buying it.

  37. Wow how exciting, can't wait to hear what you choose. We went to the factory at hethel as we wanted to see the colours in different lights too. We thought we knew what we wanted but ended up changing our minds and so glad we did. We had set on silver wheels, black alcantara and possibly silver. Then thought about black wheels and red alcantara but so happy with Our colour combo. the red leather with the grey is perfect with the red callipers. This colour looks so mean in low light I love it. I've tried to capture the light of dawn and the dew on the car as it looks like a Matt finish. Will add more today for you but hope these help.

  41. First things first......sorry to disappoint but I certainly wasn't lucky enough to get it for £5k - I wish I had been? As for the covers, these photos are taken at the current custodians residence (I'm not a big fan of these covers either) and when she arrives at mine she will be adorned with a nice new Lotus cover which I'm hoping Bibs will be able to help with. I'm thinking Black cover with red piping and a silver logo?? Sorry no more photos until I take delivery........but must say I really I appreciate all the enthusiasm - I've felt a tad alone with my thoughts of lust for one of these but seeing the comments from like minded addicts is great for my soul? Ok - one more photo can't hurt can it?

  43. Pretty simple really Neil, it was just the look of the old one I struggled with. I've always loved the Giugiaro shape but have never liked light interiors especially cream.......but when I was looking back then it was the best I could find and it was a beauty. I also realised that I still preferred the early look with the black bumpers and the bold decals and stripes. The hunt has taken forever but all good things..........? This was my old one :

  46. Miss Double D loves the Evora. Literally as much as we all do ourselves. I have never had a car that my partner likes as much as the Evora. Road trip holidays are asked for and hoped for in the Evora. It's great Road noise can be very bad, totally agree. I would happily trade grip for less road noise. I see the Msport pilots have the same db rating as the PZero which is a disappointment. However someone on here mentioned a Finnish? tyre brand that was significantly quieter? Im quite happy to have the car grip less and slide more, it fun to be in control of slips, and have less cabin noise. I've done as many road trips in the last 2 years with the Evora as I have done in the last 10? years I think. FANTASTIC fun. Great to hear you are enjoying it together
