  4. All finished and back on the road! Tyre pressures holding and running great, not sure how 20 year old rubber will perform in the wet but I'll enjoy having the Goodyears while they last.

  5. Thanks for organising Gordon, thoroughly enjoyed my day on track and the people I gave rides too where a joy. Got home and a 200 mile day today at an average of 14mpg. Brake discs have a nice blue hue so they were tested! That put a smile on my face as it showed little Scarlett had had a well deserved spanking!

  6. Had a run out of it this morning. Felt pretty good, nothing fell off on the road. Tracking is due to be done tomorrow so I don't wear the front tyres out in 5 minutes, KwikFit will also do me the Hunter print-out so I'll know what has to be done for the two set-up later. The new rad-pack and fan set-up works a treat, as does the air-con. I can't see any leaks from the oil coolers either, but I'll have another look underneath the car just to make sure I don't have anything leaking, or otherwise hanging off, including the brake lines. Oh, and no sooner had I washed the car off, a poxy herring gull with the arse the size apof a cow, shat all over the roof

  8. Well except for the £200 in premium unleaded and the two posh hotels I'm staying in to get there. But I genuinely don't get why people are whining over £20 paying for membership to TLF - plus WHATEVER else - to get in the photoshoots. Total no brainer for me, but then I used to run a big forums website and get how much drama it is dealing with the general nutters that roam across the interwebs.

  9. Thanks for a great turn out today. The Lotus Day at GTM has become a very popular event with the museum visitors. Martyn, the events organiser said he though it was the most popular one so far. Thanks again Gordon P.S. Please post up your pictures

  10. It's very odd crawling down a jammed slip road onto an almost stationary dual carriageway to have the folks in the car next to you on the road beckoning and pretty much insisting that you pull on in front of them. Basically the reverse of what happens when my mate drives in his BMW, cars nose to bumper and everyone resolutely refusing eye contact...

  13. They're allegedly tougher, but I grant them the same respect as double platinum spark plugs. In my book they're simply not worth the money. The standard belt is a tried and trusted component that does the job admirably. If you look after your car properly, you should never have a problem with it.

  14. Shame you missed the deadline to submit expenses by 11 seconds or TLF would have covered that for you

  15. Just free entrance to the 2nd biggest Lotus gathering on the planet! Brooklands are a charity, it's a very worthy cause. Cost Laura & I £34 to get in the banking photoshoot last year and I organise the event!

  19. I'm right on the same page as you mate, less is better but you and me are a rare breed these days I'm afraid. I bought one of the first V6 Cup cars and the only concession I made was the a/c. Like you I don't think I used it, weight adding, power sapping unit but then I came to all the same conclusions above and added it back in. That and I insisted it had an alarm and immobiliser fitted for ease of insuring it, made it difficult to insure a 65k car with out it, again small weight penalty but the benefits outweighed it ten times. Does the 410 come with a light weight battery? if not then you could save quite a few kg's fitting one of those, same with the exhaust backbox, factory ones usually weigh a tonne!! I bet you could easily make back the weight of the a/c on those two items alone and your taking weight off where it's most needed. Aslo nice and easy to revert to std if needs be..

  20. Hi David I see you already have the decals - make sure that they are the 160mm ones - check that the "t" as that shown in Stephens photo. The later decals have a different one. Yours looks like an early 1982 car - the indicators are the earlier variety. My BBS wheels were painted silver - not polished - from the factory, and when I had them refurbished a year or so ago, I had them painted again - no polished rims or gold centres. As Andy suggests check what spec the car had when new. You might have to specifically ask Andy Graham re the wheels. You should also ask about the body colour bumpers to find if your is one of the 2 from 1982 - no-one has had it confirmed that theirs was one yet - mine isn't, even though it has been body coloured since 1985. Would be great to know if they are still around. What tyres do you have/are you going to get? If/when you refurbish the interior, I'd keep the 1/2 leather rather than going to full leather to keep it original. I have a 1/2 leather Excel, and will probably refurbish this with leather/alcantara in the next couple of years. Hope we get to see the car in the flesh. 1982 is the best year for our cars. Chris @naasaa - Lars, would love to see some pictures of your cars

  22. They won't stay down permanently on the vacuum system, only when the engine is on right? If you want to have full control of the up/down you'll have to do the mx5 conversion, haven't regretted doing mine for one second, up or down when I want and for how long as I want. Couldn't tell you what those wires are, had a few left over on mine!

  23. Hopefully the only "disaster" that day will be the state of my bank balance at the end of it, and the fact I'll need a plastic surgeon to remove the smile from my face

  25. Hi Dave, Car looks really good - had it long? I would personally think the bumpers on it should be satin black unless your car is one of 2 of that period that left the factory colour coded - Lotus have stated there was 2 that left the factory body coloured (probably at the request of the first owner) but are unsure which 2. As for the wheels I think they could have left the factory painted with gold centres on request but standard order was silver. As far as your car is concerned I would personally think that with gold decals, gold centres would work well. If it was me though I'd contact Andy Graham at Lotus and ask him what the spec was when it was new - they do say original is always best after all.......now more than ever to protect the cars value.

  26. My cambelt chirps a bit when cold, but there's no noise when it's warm. And that's a new Gates belt, with a proper tensioner bearing, not a dodgy one. I couldn't really hear anything untoward, Vanya.

  27. That's a great angle you've managed to get on that pic. Things have went a bit awry for me to attend the Grampian Lotus meet, so think I'll take the rare opportunity to give mine a polish while the other half is working.

  28. Hi Jo, gorgeous car, love the wheels and nice seeing the car with the tyre writing such a cool look, need to get mine done! Does anyone think my turbo sits a little high at the rear?

  29. So, at long last I got my re-trim done. The first picture shows the interior of my standard 2010 NA - a bit dark all over really. The subsequent pictures show my version of the premium sports racer look as I continue to slowly upgrade, fettle, play, cosset, love my Evora! I used Alcantara instead of Suedetex (the trimmers at Allon White confirmed it was the better material) and for anyone interested colour #9002 is the closest match to the Suedetex used by Lotus (incidentally, Allon Whites can get the suedetex if anyone needs it). They also fitted the MY12 door pulls and then are so much better than the originals and now with a nice padded leather feel too. My wheel was redone by Royal Steering Wheels as per an earlier thread, I added the metal gear know from Elise Shop, and had customer overmats made and trimmed with red leather (other thread). So, my scheme is now alcantara, venom red and contrast stitching throughout. I really do have to say that my interior now, feels every bit as special and premium, as my friends Bentley GT and even he is very very impressed. I love my metal dash and centre panel too, they just now positively ping with the new interior. Hope you enjoy the outcome.

  31. If I were buying a new Evora right now it would be a sport 410. Toxic green and a manual gearbox, wonderful choice!! However, I have to question your sanity on not specing aircon? Understand your thinking behind it but it's going to be one seriously tough ask when it comes time to sell an 80k car without it (advertised as a factory stripped back car or not), and it's not like it can be retro fitted afterwards. The amount of additional weight it carries is probably equal to a quarter/third of a tank of fuel at most. If weight is key, and it's only a saturday car then I personally would spec it and just run no more than a 2/3 full tank for the same effect. Gav

  34. The Esprit managed a Silver award at this years Lakewood Yacht Club Concours d'Elegance last weekend. Not too shabby as it was up against recently restored, trailered, garage queens of various British marques. Our Esprit has 35K and is definitely a driver that goes out every week and is unrestored.

  36. Not my pictures, but as I now have a (tentative) collection date and everything seems solid, I'd like to introduce to you all the conclusion to my search. Some changes have been made to the car since the photos were taken, those will be shown when I take delivery. Unfortunately I am going to miss The Lotus show next weekend, but hope to be picking this up on the 13th. It will eventually be wearing the number plate E4 VRA
