  1. I'm a little confused about the attitude and expectations. Lotus is a low volume boutique automobile manufacturer. Several people have commented on their expectations about a car in the Evora price range--it shouldn't do this, it should do that. The reality is that it would be impossible for a low volume manufacturer (relatively unsupported by a parent company) to provide a world class sports car that unquestionably rivals the offerings of its relatively high volume Teutonic rivals . . . and not have the occasional quirk. What you get in return for accepting the (very few) quirks is an automob

  2. Well, that's a first Slow moving traffic and a car full of young ladies went past. One decided to "flash her assets". Unfortunately for her we spent the next mile or so pretty much passing each other... ...embarrassed isn't the word...

  3. Got the car back across the water after a 500 mile drive. I have to say that the noise it makes even at 3000 revs during the engine run-in is absolutely insane

  4. Comparing buying a macca to a lotus ? In what world is that realistic or fair or reasonable. If I had the money to own a mclaren that's what would be in my garage. Lotus produce epic cars for the lolly they have. Maybe i have misread the post/s but that seems an odd comment to me.

  10. Hey Guys, Happen to come across this forum and I think you are talking about us! :-) Here is a photo of the #46 Lotus Evora running in Pirelli World Challenge GTS class. We have been running 2016 season. We raced last weekend in Canada - Mosport and are working very hard to make Lime Rock this coming weekend 5/26 - 5/28. 11. Thanks Bibs, been in touch with customer care at Hethel, Neil suggested calling Lotus Assist, but I've been back to the car, and the bugger started first try! I'm baffled. Can only imagine a fault has cleared or something. The car is likely going in to have some warranty work soon, so i'll ask for fault codes to be checked and post any results/causes.

  12. Someone on the Retro Rides forums is currently looking at modifying one, started asking me loads of questions on how to put it on air, sent me diagrams and everything. It could be done but would need a hell of a lot of fabrication as they don't use a spring in a conventional way, needes a pivotal system. Anyway I did this photoshop for him.

  13. It's been done before.... We popped a hydrolastic seal cresting a bump in the road outside Oban with the family's wildly overloaded sandglow beige 1.7HL Princess wedge. eh voila: slammed Princess.... It still didn't quite manage to look like Harris Mann's initial radical styling sketches tho.... It just looked a bit shit. and it was beige.

  15. Thankyou @DaveC72. At least one person has requested an in-depth "walkaround" of the car, so that's something that I will be doing in the near future. I think for the guys across the pond it's something they will find particularly useful. Here is the next video, touches on running costs. I've made some upgrades since we did the first few videos, I have a new wireless mic on order, we've got a couple of new heavy-duty car mounts which should make for much better in-car shots, and overall we're just getting more practise in. Thanks for watching everyone.

  16. First of all many thanks for all those Forum members that have contributed and given feedback to this thread - it has been a great help when coming to this decision of whether to buy or not. Which is made and it's a Yes. Thanks also to Jamie at Bell and Colvill for arranging the test drive yesterday and sourcing the car I am buying - thanks for all your professionalism and ease of dealing. Lastly thanks to my new found friend Francis who has bought my S1 Elise that I have owned for 8 years and lovingly restored (By Greg at Hangar 111 - top man), it will be sad to see her go - but goi

  17. Was watching a recorded Pirelli World Challenge Race a few weeks ago when low and behold, I spotted an Evora in the field. Was happy to see a Lotus racing in the US again but miffed that Kpax Racing went with a McLauren to replace their Volvo S60s in the GT class (where they raced against those heinous barstards driving the monstrosities wearing the wreath and crest. A.k.a. cadillac). At this time I don't remember what class the Evora was in (GT, GTA, GTS, dunno?) but will try and find out next time I hit up the Pirelli World Challenge website. KW edit: Just got some new Info. Sc

  18. In February last year I brought a 1978 Lotus Esprit S2. I purchased the car after selling my 1986 Lotus Excel SE that I got for Christmas when I was 10 years old, and restored with my dad. In 2007 my dad purchased my S2 (Blackie). Yes thats me in the middle with my grand parents and brother. I loved the car a lot and I sat in it all the time dreaming of one day having a car like this and making brum brum noises with dad I was only 5 years old !!!. But unfortunately it went up for sale. The buyer of the car left Blackie outside in a yard for 8 years and didnt do any wor

  27. Hi all, Looking at buying airbox clips for my S3 but at £20 odd quid a pop at SJS i decided to find an alternative. Some people i hear are using cable ties. I know its not ideal but as there are a lot of things required to get the old girl up and running properly it'll do in the meantime, and as they were lying around in the garage i thought id make use of them! They're nice and tight so shouldn't come undone...

  32. I've just bought some of this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Kuryakyn-Round--WireTidy-Cable-Black/dp/B00J1IU0FC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1464084966&sr=8-1&keywords=kuryakyn+cable+wrap It arrived this morning, and it's really nice stuff. Looks like a proper tube, but easy to wrap around existing wires as it's actually a flat strip of fabric that naturally springs into an overlapping tube shape. I'm gonna have fun wrapping all the small wires with this stuff.

  37. Hi Tim, There will be plenty of room in the Grassmarket for another car but I will need to add you to the reserve list for breakfast. It is a small restaurant and we are limited for numbers but will do my best to get you in.

  42. Here's the next uploaded video. Not technically part two, more of a "bonus" video. After filming yesterday I offered my friend a chance to drive the car - he leapt at the opportunity and we decided to capture his reaction on film. I think all of us who've spent time behind the wheel of a 400 can empathise with his reaction!

  43. That'd be this one! The airbag issue is being dealt with (don't think it has deployed but it doesn't sit flush on the dash). I won't be gutted if I have it for a while! The sister manual car is currently undergoing prep and should be with us in about a month.

  44. And I'm going to sound really old but never get under a car when it's only on a jack. I know of two people on the e-type list who were both killed under a car supported by only a jack. Use axle stands!!! Keep up the good work though. Paul.

  45. @Mjb7 you'll see in another thread I am doing a video blog about the car. Like several others, I think this is the best car I have ever driven. And my driving experience includes about 30 different 911s, five R8s (V10 and V8), two different Ferraris, several Astons, etc... The 400 is a rare car in that it strikes a perfect harmony between all components - nothing dominates, but everything is *just* right. I was driving out in the rain for the first time today, it was pretty heavy at points. I tested a few cars that in these conditions I'd be tempted to park it and wait the weather out. Bu

  46. I haven't tried a 400 yet and in fact I'm frightened of doing so because I don't want the expense of what logically follows! My series 1 Evora is phenomenal to drive and I find it hard to imagine anything being better. I felt some of this on test drives, but it was only with increasing confidence with my own car that I really began to understand what an utterly fantastic car it is to drive. I find myself looking at the drivers of other vehicles - especially the expensive ones, and wondering if they realise how poor their driving experience really is. Apologies if that sounds arrogan

  47. Thought I'd share the good news with you gents as I have you to thank for the various advice. Considering my car was sitting static since the early 90s I think passing the mot is quite an achievement, even better it was first try, with one advisory. I just need to smooth out the revs/pull at low rpm and then its perfect.
