  2. Well, some important news for our country and the bereaved. The Report was finally published today after 6 years delay. Families of our servicemen and women who were so betrayed by Blair (to say the least) and the thousands of dead and battered innocent people in Iraq will derive little satisfaction as it will not bring their loved ones back who died - for what ? So that Isis can now rule large parts of that nation and launch terror attacks on Europe ? Did the USA and GB have a plan for post-war Iraq ? Nope. Shades of the events of last week too... and of 100 years ago... That is th

  3. I visited Ypres and The Somme last year and vowed to return for the 100th. I have just come back from what was a very moving experience. We chose to visit the Sunken Road, Beaumont Hamel at 7:20 am when the Mine was detonated (Now the Hawthorn Ridge Crater). http://www.webmatters.net/txtpat/?id=61 At 7:28, whistles blew, we were given a tot of rum and an envelope containing the name of a soldier. At 7:30 we climbed what remains of the trench and opened our envelopes. Arthur Cox was a Londoner. He died on the 1st July 1916 at a few minutes after 7:30 and we remembered him by laying

  6. Well after getting the short end of the stick in the global oil downturn and becoming unemployed for the first time in 30 odd years, I have now completed my first week. But a few days back I started going through my huge list of contacts which has resulted in three interviews, the first of which is today. Fingers crossed it turns in to a job or I will have a list of 4 wheeled projects at the door again.

  7. As a long-time MLOCer, I too recommend this. It's a great day. The thing I love about it is that pretty much everyone there loves pretty much every car there. Most people would happily consider swapping for pretty much anything else. No-one wants rid of their own cars – they'd have to think about it, but everyone just loves a Lotus. And there are PLENTY of them! Great cars, lovely people, and Dean and his team do a stunning job. (I know I've not booked quite yet Dean, but there's still a glimmer of hope I'll be able to make a weekend of it with the family.) You won't regret it. Really.

  9. Coming through Dover this evening, a young lad shouts "i love your car", but was obviously so distracted, that he drove his scooter into a post. I tried not to laugh, but failed.

  10. There was only one timed run unfortunately and yes you guessed it, it was the one in which David spun in the Video above and clocked a 71.51. He was very annoyed as he was pretty confident he would win it.......Oh well. BTW he is now know as David Spinnard :-)

  11. Ok. Was hoping you could have one as a track car (drive to track and play) for a year and then easily convert to race for the next year, as a way of easing yourself in. I'm looking at the Caterham Academy myself for next year as the FD approved my submission. No doubt she will expect Diamonds in return though!

  12. My slow starting problem went away but came back after a refill with v power. I will monitor. Been using v power mostly for 2 years with no issues until last month.

  13. Preparing the front boot for painting I found this. Definitely won't be painting over that! Not sure what the '7' means. For orientation, the yellow tape is where the front badge bolts into.

  15. Progress Update My first prototype is now complete and fitted to the car. The design is both different to the Sport and CupR splitter. The over hang is just a tad more than the sport but no way near that of the CupR. As you'll see the typical recess you'd have on the sport in the middle of the splitter I've decided to go straight for two reasons. First, it was easier to draw vs trying to get a symmetric curve (lazy I know), second the car is already low and getting on and off my trailer is already tight. If I'd gone with a curve for sure id be clipping the front every tim

  17. The engine has the same configuration and reciprocating mass as the S4-S4s which will run safely up to 7500 rpm, However the slight changes made allow the power to be delivered slightly better producing the 300 bhp .. As you will see from this dyno graph peak power is delivered a lot earlier so max rpm not really an issue.. This particular S300 achieved the 300bhp point at 5850 rpm with just over 1 bar boost.. What made the S300's power figures even better was the power to weight ratio. Being a lighter construction these improved over the others models with the added benefits

  18. The chaps at Chapman Cars are both ex-Caterham, Antony who I spoke to was Head of Sales for 10 years. He said that the k-Series was a better engine than the Sigma but the 5 speed would get me used to the power band in the Academy cars rather than the better 6 speed. They really seem to know their stuff, I'd be happy to buy that one from them

  21. I'm on the "do it once and do it properly" route I hope. Time will tell. Engine going to come out to remove the manifold which is very well attached so while it's out I can check the tanks, replace the fuel lines, carb diaphragms etc to reduce the fire risk, clean the engine bay and the engine properly. Looking like a rather large C service now, but hopefully the finished result will be pretty good. Oh, and decided to replace shocks and springs while we're at it, lowering to Essex ride height at the same time. Hopefully will go and handle almost like new by the time it's done.

  22. Did a better version. Perhaps Jorge will prefer the older version but I had to rush the first one through and took a bit more time with this one. Toyota press office got in touch to thank me personally, which was nice. Anyway, here's the Mark II version. Plenty of time to 'like' Toyota Motorsport GmBH on facebook if you haven't already. I know this might come across as a bit overly sentimental for the more world weary members on here but I saw first hand what this did to the many hard working members of the Toyota team and honestly they were inconsolable. It was very hard not to feel

  24. I'd suggest taking a look at the engine and gearbox mounts and checking the flywheel and clutch while its all out of the car and easy to get at. There were little micro surface cracks on my flywheel which the guy doing my engine spotted when it came out recently. He's fitted a new flywheel and clutch for me so I've ended up with a spare new pressure plate from SJs. It's just sitting on a shelf in my garage so give me a shout if you find you could make use of it,
