  3. Anything to do with Snakes always reminds me of "Military encounters with a snake": Infantry: Tracks snake through jungle with blowpipe (awaiting mods). Snake smells them and leaves area. Airborne: Lands on and kills snake. Tabs to objective. Armour: Runs over snake, laughs and looks for more snakes. Cavalry: Treats snake with haughty disdain as it has no impact on the primary objective - to hold London at all costs. Commando: Plays with snake, they get naked together then eats snake. Combat Engineer: Studies snake. Prepares tactical doctrine for fixing snake

  7. Hi gents. I have been lurking in the backgrounds for some months now, and I thought it was time to give back what little I can! I had a test drive in the 400 at Bell & Colvill last weekend, and they specifically asked me if I would track the car, as the stock exhaust is too loud. I said yes, so they said they can sell and install the race exhaust system straight out of the 3-11. And yes, the 3-11 was in the showroom. Hope that helps.

  10. To back up Fabians recommendation I used Arek of ARC Car Transport today to get my car up to the GST intensive care unit. He gave me an excellent price and was unbelievably careful it took him 25mins to load it perfectly he is also a throughly nice chap.   24. I've heard nothing from them since my last posts. I'd prefer it if you'd ordered direct as this is quite a bit of hassle, buying & paying for them all, collecting payment, packaging each one and working out postage all over the world. Please bear in mind Lotus have offered no margin on these so I'd be doing all this for free during my work time. As per above, I've had no further communication from Lotus regarding this.

  25. Well, I have good news: Bruno Schaffner of Schaffner Racing, who is the owner of the photos, allowed me to publish them all, in lower internet resolution as well as in high resolution. I will do so within the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, here are some additional information about the photos already posted. Now, it's absolutely incredible what Bruno can recall from 40 years ago, he recognises each and every person and each car on the photos (including who bought the car back then). I drove my Exige Roadster on about 9,000 miles in one year, on various roads, and I can say it is quite comfy and is able to do long distance trips (from Paris to Toulon in one day is not too tiring) ... The main point is that the gearbox is tall enough to stay at 2,300 rpm at 130km/h (GPS), which is a big improvement over Elise when cruising on highways (can't be avoided sometimes), and the full carpeted interior on mine reduces noises as well. seats are surprisingly comfortable, and tank is small enough to remind you that you've to stretch yourself ... whatever is the road type, I do about

  29. Valid point there Scott.. On some engines, mainly the early ones, I have found deposits in the water jacket primarily around #4. This has dried within the jacket to a crust. Its make up is like alloy scaling off the block from incorrect or no antifreeze use.. In one case it may have been escalated by excessive use of rad weld.. on final removal of this in the worst case, it had caused the corrosion to eat through the block from the water jacket to the outside.. This is not an area many look at unless changing the liners.. Also on all the pre Zues block and head castings the water ports

  30. A friend of mine bought one of the 662bhp Shelby Mustangs. Despite being a lifelong V8 fanatic, with a long list of high-powered cars to his name, he sold it shortly afterwards saying it scared him, and he felt he would die in it. He's now settled on a 2014 5-litre V8 version, the chassis of which he feels is better able to handle the torque and power.

  39. So many people both on here and facebook talk about the unsuitability of the Evora as a "flagship" car, but considering it was never designed to be a "Supercar"... it doesn't half look at home in that group

  40. From the passenger seat, the Evora 400 was an immensely capable machine round a circuit. It has the required suppleness to suit the Nordschleife very well, and sufficient poke to fire itself up the Kesselchen section and down Dottinger Hohe with ease. Bonus as well that the exhaust can sing without getting the local council's knickers in a twist (like in the UK), and boy does it have some lungs.
