  1. My car lives!!!! i am very pleased to report that I picked up my car this morning and all the issues have been resolved. To say I am very pleased would be an understatement but I would equally say that Greg at hanger111 is also very pleased. We were all in a tight corner and the car would not yield... Thru preservance Greg has managed to find the needle in the haystack that was causing the problems. Quick recap - issue was two fold a misfire on cold start pointing to an air leak and during road testing some slight hesitations. They chased, replaced, reviewed and resolved: -

  2. Hello All, Picked up my new Evora 400 last Saturday......so thought I would join and say hello. This is my first Lotus. Always wanted one, have come close a couple of times, but always walked into "German" showrooms instead. That was until I saw the Evora 400. I race Caterham's hence the username CaterhamPorky. Did the Caterham Academy in 2012 and have not stopped racing since. I got a second chance at life. Beat cancer & became a racing driver. 3rd in 2014 Caterham Tracksport Championship now in Supersports with DPR Motorsport. Next year is the big set to R300's.......so th

  4. I have only covered a couple of hours and a 100mile but as Norbert said on his thread it's like a new car! It's bloody amazing - the torque is brilliant and the power is reliant less easily passes 160leptons - 991gt3s watch out we are coming a chasin... my phase 1 was only the power upgrade but it is so worthwhile.... It's how the car should have been and if not, that's what they should offer have offered... Phase 2 for me is suspension, brakes, exhaust, lsd, clutch, gears... Probably over the darkest winter?

  5. The Nissan was just not my type of car – it’s huge, heavy, ugly inside and out – that’s overstating it but I came from cars such as a 355, NSX, TVR etc and I’m not really a GT person. But . . . the allure of all that power was just something I couldn’t resist. Quite a few standard niggles with the GT-R such as body rust, wheel corrosion, squeaks, failing brackets, broken gearbox (!) so please don’t think that Lotus have all the issues. I really enjoyed the ownership though, it was useful to have all that space, upgrading to 600BHP and a loud exhaust was simple, there’s a real GT-R community

  6. No, I'm 100% Swiss made but I do love your country (and british cars, obviously). Despite the reputation - My current mission is to proof that it is possible to drive a mid-seventies british car, hand built by a small company such as lotus as a daily driver and that such cars can be reliable. It's all a question of maintenance etc. My mission will succeed and I will be traveling to the Goodwood Revival 2017 with my Elite

  8. I posted this up on facebook so for those who arent on there. A couple of weeks ago there was a race called the Yare Navigation race. It goes from Coldham Hall Sailing club on the out skirts of Norwich to Great Yarmouth and back again. Its approx 40 miles round trip. Race is for the broads cruisers. Have to be pre 1979 but most are about 1900 -1910. Some years it takes them all day to get out and back. This year the winners done it in under 4 hrs. I shot a bit of film and it was an impressive sight seeing these big old cruisers looking for all the world as if they were going to tip

  9. I mean that in the nicest possible way! Next time I visit Hethel I'll be paying respects at the old mans tomb as well. Sometimes something is so deeply ingrained its just part of you - don't fight it! When I bought my Esprit the target was a G car. Probably somewhere along the line I should have had one but that time is past and my car just feels like an extra arm. That's probably what your Turbo is to you, you just need reminding.

  10. There once was a man bought a Bentley, Broke the news to his wife very gently, She told him to sell, so he said "Go to hell!" And carried on with the Triumph reassembly.

  11. So I grew up in Queens County, one of the five boroughs of NYC. Queens has given birth to the likes of The Ramones, Run-D.M.C., Frank Profera...and The Donald. When I was a kid, I played touch football in the park with John Leguizamo (another Queens boy). I can guarantee you that if The Donald had ever showed up Jackson Heights -- not only the most the most ethnically and sexually diverse neighborhood in Queens, but in the entire USA -- that we would have beat the living snot out of his whining punk ass. He's the most un-tough tough guy this place has ever produced and a complete poser.

  13. Firstly, Norbert congrats on your upgrade as well as a trouble free 2day upgrade - I am impressed! Second, personally I have finally great news.... My car lives and picked it up today with all issues resolved - I am very happy and in fact Greg at Hanger111 is equally very happy. I think we were all in a difficult spot - I will update my notes on the other thread. i have only covered ~100 miles but I agree with you regarding the power, torque and smoothness - it feels a very natural upgrade as if it came from the factory. Shame we are getting the car as winter approaches but fun it w

  14. There once was a man with a Bentley, Who marketed said car quite intently. Propitiously sold, the man became bold. He said with defiance, "To hell with reliance! I'll procure a used Triumph" And found that it wouldn't turn over from cold.

  18. Well, I have good news: Bruno Schaffner of Schaffner Racing, who is the owner of the photos, allowed me to publish them all, in lower internet resolution as well as in high resolution. I will do so within the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, here are some additional information about the photos already posted. Now, it's absolutely incredible what Bruno can recall from 40 years ago, he recognises each and every person and each car on the photos (including who bought the car back then). I could listen to his stories for hours As loose cannon already recognized, it's Lotus' Don M

  23. There are also a few unscrupulous dealers who sell Californian cars that have only actually been in the state for a short time. I know somebody who was caught out by this and he also got a lot of pet cockroaches that he didn't bargain for too!!

  29. From your posts on here you are Lotus through the middle. Anyone who vists Chapmans grave is an addict, and I seriously doubt an old Alfa will do it for you, long term anyway. At the very least get it driving again, your perspective might change regards selling and even if you do you will get more money for a running MOTd car.

  34. Hi John, It is mine! Hopefully the advert tells you all you need to know but please let me know if I have omitted anything. It is near the top of the price range but it's a great car! Always happy to look at a price improvement for a forum member - it would be nice to keep it in the community. Hey Buddsy, Sorry I missed you last night. I would like to say that I also, was late for a class but it wouldn't be true!

  35. Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. Guess this is part of the ownership experience. Just checked my diary and can make 25th Oct. I know the meeting place, so I will see you all there. I will be the bloke with a massive grin on his face. This car is brilliant. Caterham Cars COO and CEO are very grumpy with me not buying a 620s.........but this Evora is just on another level. And that noise!!! I seem to drive everywhere with the windows down and the exhaust valves open.

  39. To be fair, since DRB are actively looking to sell Lotus, selling assets which are worthless on the balance sheet makes sense. It's just a shame this obviously kills off some of the irreplaceable heritage of a company for whom their heritage is a huge part of their appeal.

  40. I was allowed to scan some folders full of photos and brochures from the 70s So I spent all Sunday in front of a scanner, and here's a preview! I'll rename, sort and crop/resize all files and then post it in a gallery/library. If of any interest, I also can offer the full 600 dpi resolution files for download (about 2 GB). As soon as I have some spare time... Now, enjoy!

  42. We had to modify the strut bracket to accommodate our USA exhaust cam pulley hub to drive the air pump for the emissions system. We moved the strut bracket over to the intake side and used a M8 bolt hole in the head to provide added support. My daughter did the mod while I worked on other things. She also did all the hard laying on the engine fastener tightening.

  43. On ‎19‎/‎09‎/‎2016 at 13:13, saj said: They remain radio silent. Hardly surprising given all the $hitspreading you have been doing on every lotus forum out there you have thought of. I wouldn't be surprised if Craig is squirming a little at your outbursts given the he founded his own reputation by way of MMC. For balance, I had just had my Evora S back from it's 4 year service at MMC and I have ZERO complaints.
