  3. Its been a while since my last post! All work done. Only the engine is still under reconditioning. We make a few modifications. The original Wastegate is obsolete,so he machined a racepart wastegate to the manifold. Also many other parts (valve guides, valves he make from material which he uses in racing engines. My rebuilder make Rally and Hillclimb engines up to 700 hp,so i hope he know what he is doing, and its not his first Lotus 900 series engine. He told me many tolerances (including oil pump rotors annulus valve guids.....) are horrible. He laughed and said to me "This engines cannot

  6. All bolted up today. I first ran a bead of silicone in the wheel groove Installed a 4mm rubber bead into the groove Bead cut to complete the seal, repeat on the other side then bolted up the barrel and rim. Silicone added to the grooves once bolted up, smooth over then allow to cure for at least 48 hours before installing tyres. Another set of Compomotives finished off and ready to install.

  7. Yeah, but with so many dodgy owners about bodging their Esprits, and several owners bodging more thsn one Esprit too, there won't be any viable cars left soon so the Evora S1 +0 in Ardent red with pink interior trim will be the only really viable collectors car for the future. Is it worth £45k yet?

  8. So had first go with this today http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/aqua-gleam/0ppm-de-ionising-water-filter-12.aspx wow makes life so much easier with a black car. Ready for Top Gear on wed now. No water marks at all. Also this pic shows why no one see you in their mirrors look where it sits next to the wife's car!!

  10. I had a mid life crisis when I hit 30. Job going nowhere, harassed at work, very bored. I took 3 months off work and created my so called bucket list with just 3 things to tick off before I hit retirement age. I had been in the military for 15 years, I actually joined the Airforce to work on planes, but I never actually once worked on one. So the 3 items in my bucket list were: 1. Become a professional and wear a suit (not a uniform), travel the world and fix problems on aircraft. 2. Climb the Pyramids with my father. 3. Buy a fast red exotic sports car that cost more than a house. S

  13. Just dropped the seats off with the trimmer, and he has this in his workshop, an Esprit I haven't seen around before. Given the overpowering aroma of unleaded, the registration number is highly appropriate, and I wouldn't be striking a match anywhere near it. Someone's going to have some fuel tank fun, I reckon. It's been sent in for work to be done on the driver's seat by a local Lotus specialist not a million miles from here.

  16. £62k is absolutely crackers for an Elise. Forget the hard top, that can be added later at any time. Enjoy the car this summer with the roof off. Forget the stereo, good noise cancelling headphones is all you need. Forget carpets, a Cup car is nicer without. Forget leather for the same reasons. I wouldn't even bother with a/c in an Elise. Unless it's pouring down it's always nicer with the roof off. I didn't have aircon in my SportsRacer and only missed it once in 5 very happy years (hot Italian motorway drive after I'd had enough sun). That's saved you £6000 already to spend the

  22. I'm sitting in the car outside a supermarket earlier this evening when a lad, in his early 20s I'd say, wanders past then whips out his mobile and starts taking pictures from the front and rear before continuing on his way. He gets about 10 paces or so before he feels compelled to turn around and stare back at the car, then walks on another 10 paces or so before repeating the longing gaze rearwards. I wouldn't have minded if it had been my Evora that was the subject of his desire, why I would even have been a bit flattered, but no - his undivided attention was directed to a car parked a c

  29. They (i.e. Rory Reid) also took the mick out of the Dolomite in the last episode. As a precursor to the Mk1 Golf Gti. (TBF, he had a point).

  30. I had for a while the impression that Lotus was somehow a little lost in its limited edition models.....as if they wanted their customer to waite for a clear model line for the Exige V6 to come out of Hethel, which seems to be the case right now....they should follow the GT3 - GT3 RS line of Models of Porsche, probably a little bit what they have done with the 350 and 380... however I think they are still missing the point somehow......you don't have as standard, the track packages on either the 350 and / or the 380..... I'd go with a 350 something and a 380 with track packages as standard....

  35. On my last V6 I had the Mike fixed on top of the steering column. Meant I only had to take apart the two plastic steering column cowling parts and thread the wire through to the back of the stereo. (Ignore the warning lights....)

  42. Just got my Evora back after having front near side drop link replaced and the bushes removed, lubricanted and re-fitted. What a difference! I had the clunk noises too. Car feels so much more solid. The part itself is cheap although a bit of labour involved, but well worth getting this sorted rather than living with it as a niggle as makes a huge improvement to enjoyment of the car.

  44. I think the Giant is starting to yawn and open its eyes on the S2, UK sports cars sold a red one a few months ago advertised for 28K and one in Europe for 25k Euros LHD but its in bits, however the one on ebay will need re-fabricating on the sills and the front as the originals would of had to of been cut away to fit the turbo mods, anyone interested in purchasing this speak to Boss Motors in Norfolk first as he has most of the original moulds from Lotus, it wouldn't surprise me that in the next 2-3 years that good S2's will be achieving close to 40k

  46. Amazing when you see what McLaren have achieved in a short time that some of these cash rich companies haven't seen the potential at Lotus. No doubt all the management consultants are saying that the future is hybrid autonomous SUVs. I bet you Lotus could be bought for a relative snip. I reckon without the Bahar debacle they would already have found a buyer. JMG is still trying to repair the damage.
