  4. Today I unfortunately witnessed some disgusting behaviour on beech here in Devon. A man and a woman arguing in front of a load of kids. Then she smacked him one right across the head and it all kicked off between them! The Police then turned up and the Policeman ended up using his baton on the bloke who then managed to get the baton off the Policeman and started hitting the Copper and the woman with it! Eventually a crocodile turned up and stole all the sausages. 😡

  6. Tractor fixed - managed to boil the battery dry!, well it was 10 years old. Rang dealer at 8.30, fixed by 11.00 - pretty good service I would say.

  7. These are good looking cars and it's easy to forget how rare they are when you've got one sat outside waiting for some attention. My kids said they saw our car surrounded by "old men" (people like us? ) at the village show talking pictures and chatting excitedly.

  8. Hi both, We can only apologise publicly, it's never happened to us before, in the 20 odd years that the LDA has been going we've only abandoned, in my memory, twice, both for weather reasons. Our rationale was if we can't deliver to the high standard we've always aspired to then we would rather get you guys back on another day. Hopefully the fact you want to come back is a sign that we have done something well! We will do our best to open up some more Licence weekends, that's the tough bit as we are running on most already to meet demand! See you soon!

  9. Reconditioned calipers arrived today! Pete did a lovely job, considering they were seriously busted. They're very much like Trigger's broom now. Replacing the hoses meant cutting back on the trailing arm pipes and making new ones as the unions were rotten. I was finally able to tie up the new pipework, fit the calipers and get out the pressure bleeder. Now the brake pedal is just dandy. Can't test drive until I've replaced the rad though. Front's all done except for installing the servo pipe and the new level warning circuit. And the new radiator arrived! Time to rip it all out. I managed to get the LH cooler bolt out; RH required a little more violence following removal of the pod lifter. Tomorrow is nut & bolt busting day. Wheee

  16. I still can't see why a company has not made a fuse convertor for classic cars. It would be simple to make and solve the problem of those glass fuses. Just a basic bit of kit that you could plug into the old glass fuse space and then add new style space fuses. They would cost pence to make.!

  17. Sticking with the car show theme, here's a photo of my Elite at the Lakeland Car Museum, near Ulverston in Cumbria, on the Classic Drive and Ride In Day back in April:

  18. First start for a couple years since re fitting quite pleased. Fitted electronic points and forgot run the permanent live so that held me up trying to find our why she had no spark . Good oil pressure or a least that's what gauge says. Need to time and set the carbs up VID-20180624-WA0005.mp4

  22. Visited the Lotus Driving Academy today for a basic scare yourself sensible session . Wow! What a great afternoon for £120. Im hooked. About to sign up for a silver package and work my way up. Great friendly bunch and they want you to push the car. No pressure just good tuition and fun. It was wet but the grip was phenomenal from the Elise 220 Sport. If you sitting on the fence about this experience , then just book it. Good excuse to take your car back to it’s birth place. Guy Munday was a wealth of information and provided the group with a great tour of the factory. Look forwarded to doing it all again soon.

  23. I hope I’ve made the right choice... Evora 400 manual in metallic blue. The Porsche was lovely... the Lotus... exciting. Thanks to James M. And his Lotus diaries for helping me with the choice. The Lotus Turbo Esprit always was my favourite car in Accolade’s Test Drive on my Amiga 500

  25. Looks like LotusRescue are about to be asked to assist in the sale of a rather nice Lotus Europa, circa 1971. Calypso Red. One owner from new with a factory fitted Spider chassis when the car was only 10 years old. Wishbones etc all replaced with new powder coated items a few years ago. This one is not the big valve head unit, but the smaller 1.4 Renault engine. The car will be competitively priced to a fellow enthusiast. If there is any interest please PM and I can give further details and photographs.

  26. It's huge! And it's amazing to fly, so quick! (Image is updating firmware, no I didn't fly it with no propellers in my office!).

  27. I just fitted a connector for the battery conditioner to the terminals on the battery and ran the lead out of the edge of the battery cover. More reliable connector than the 12v in the boot with no Fuse to blow and tucks away neatly in the cargo net in the boot when not in use.

  28. Looks like it’s been fitted using Barry’s spirit level. And it’s Kimbers that’s at an odd angle, not the camera.

  29. The pressures do seem to rise quickly on the Cups 2's. I too collected the car with pressures set higher than the book suggests, and after the 1000 service they were set even higher again! My gauge ran out of batteries so tonight's mission is to purchase a decent analogue pressure gauge from Halfords and bring the pressure down to 2.0 / 2.2. I think I'll notice a very positive difference in ride and grip.

  32. Dan she's a gonner, it's tough I know but to speed your journey through the five stages of loss I'll pop over and haul her away. That's how much I care. Don't go checking for things left on, your only making it worse. what's this talk of storage? Summer's only in!

  33. Lotus in the Peak supports charities, from last year's event we donated £500 to the local air ambulance, this year's event will be in support of the RNLI Lifeboats.

  34. Coincidentally, I'm at home. Hardest work I'm doing today is trying not to pour the gin too early. Looks like it's going to be just as tough for the rest of the week, dammit.

  36. The focus on track ability of 400 is one thing, but I think it’s missing the point, the car capabilility on back country Aussie roads is just phenomenal. I’ve just returned from one of two trips of over 4.5 hours each way in mine and cannot praise the the ride and performance high enough. A testament to the development by Lotus to cope with the roads around The factory, freeways and tracks are waisted on the 400 it’s far more capable than that.

  39. Thank you both, Richard and Dave. Seems we have managed to promote Dave's business prospects along the way so happy faces all 'round. I humbly concur with the advice to rectify the striker area as it will be suspect in most cases from what was seen on my otherwise fairly well finished S2. I worry that fractures in the area will serve as capillary pathways past the door seal and edge trim for those cars in all but the most dry climates. With enough neglect this may find it's way into the bulkhead ply and rot away. Note the discoloration trace on the ply aligns with the fracture in the door aperture flange. Dampness was prominent in the course of this car's life and what seepage had gone unnoticed was compounded by long storage, obscured if not worsened by the carpet and noise dampening mat. For the sake of others' peace of mind I should suggest that most Esprit will probably have been more kindly treated. Still, the evidence of peril seems clear.

  40. Pretty sure I saw on one of the Lotus FB groups the Team Dynamics 1.3 18" will actually fit the car, with caliper clearance - but only just! Don't quote me on it though. That's a 400 too.

  45. Jacques That is why you do not see any esprits on the road much, we all take little bits off to repair that should take 5 minutes then it turns into a full on restoration as we all go nuts renewing and painting everything lol.

  47. Finished bleeding the brakes and used a silicon based fluid OKE dot 5 which is brilliant and would recommend it. If you have leaks it doesn't remove paint and is US military approved which is oddly a useless bit information yet informative 😕

  49. Hey Stuart! I'm glad you enjoyed the day - sorry about the weather. I shall be taking care of the factory tour and the Classic Team Lotus tour on Friday, Jairaj, so I hope to give you an enjoyable experience away from the track. We aim to make the LDA the best driving experience possible and I genuinely think we do! Guy

  50. Yup - my only experience of a 1.6 too. Fantastic little car, shame it was not more popular - that's the problem looking at numbers rather than pleasure.
