Hopefully final update. Bearing successfully replaced. Friendly vintage bus company down the road had a press to get old bearing out which caused no issues. New bearing went into the freezer overnight. Hub went into the oven (whilst the wife was out) for an hour at 200 degrees C... Frozen bearing literally dropped into the hole in the hub... It was almost too easy, which slightly worries me... Pete4 points

Same... And I find that most of the remainers I come across, (the few which actually live outside the M25) seem to be glass half full pessimists who, don't seem to have a lot of knowledge of the implications either way, just take for granted the media brainwashing, with no actual thought or vision for the future of this country. Except to say that they've been told the sky is falling, so falling it must be.3 points

Thanks for asking, much appreciated. The search continues! There are some pieces for this project that are very illusive. Thin gear lever Maystar speaker grilles One Compomotive wheel lip 15 x 1 I have a four inch rear lip to trade, I was keeping it as a spare but would swap it for a front lip. I thought I would be adding the RM610 to this list but you never know what's around the corner! If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. Trim having looked at the leather on the seats and door cards I have decided it's in very poor shape and will get it all replaced. No point in building a car like this if the external appearance doesn't match all the stuff you can't see. Will post pictures when it gets done. I have been colouring Vinyl and leather for months now. I still have all the seat leather Hyde to do. All I can say is you get really good at it with practice and I have had a lot of practice!2 points

You beat me to it. Any excuse, any thread, however tenuous the link, I post links to the Bahar Elite concept and, I believe, a market Lotus should address seriously i.e. me in a few years when my knees and hips have gone and I can't cope with the Esprit anymore......2 points

I cut the first one as suggested and then drew it out from the long side. The short side just fell out. This one was more challenging. The short side on the bush knocked out with not much effort. As can be seen here the other long stud was cut down and the pushed out with a lot of heat and a puller. Still need to move the bushes but getting the studs out is a result. Thanks for the sound advise lads. ✌️2 points

@Bibshas done a huge amount of work to organise this, in a very short space of time, and deserves credit. Without his input I’m convinced there would have been no celebration party. Well done Bibs! Now if you could just organise the weather..........2 points

I'm fairly local to the NEC in Coventry - If anyone wants to save a few quid and hassle go to Balsall Common and park for free at Berkswell Station. Its the same line and about 6 miles from the NEC - two stops on the local which takes about 5-10 mins to get there. Far easier and less hassle to get in-out.2 points

My wife does not use the screen when she drives. I do not use the screen when I drive. Whichever of us is the passenger uses it. I have never had it in the Esprit and even having driven cars with a touch screen, have never hopped into my S4 and thought' "Bugger! If I only had a 7.3865942" screen to play with." It's a manual. I'm too busy driving or talking to my passenger or driving along listening to my favourite music. Have never even used my phone in the Esprit. I also think it would be much easier to adjust a plain old analog knob for heat, let's say, versus adjusting the temp to 22.25 deg C with 75% to face and 25% to feet on fan setting 2 of 9. Seat temp on low and hoping that I don't inadvertently press the button to change the language to Cantonese. Maybe I am just old.2 points

I seem to remember that when we stayed there for the 60th anniversary we had an entire car park to ourselves........ although it was a little too close to the golf course and the odd ball bounced through the car park as we were kicking tyres1 point

We need to do more than stand up to the EU, we need to put them into shock mode! No £39b, Germany & France have substantially increase their contributions or the rest have to substantially reduce their demands from the cash pot. To the majority of the leaders of the EU27 & their citizens, whom I believe don’t really get a say on what is being suggested and are probably only “conveniently” informed, blame Tusk, Junker & Barnier for there inept gung-ho approach1 point

As I said above it's a Volvo PV544 like this one: They are popular with historic rallyists. My guess is that they are all heading off to or back from an Historic Rally, so not been sold.1 point

I don't remember the wattage, I thought they were good at the time, but I was 17 and knew absolutely nothing. What I will do though, the shop that I bought them from is still going, and is under the same management, I will make an enquiry on your behalf, you never know what old stock or literature may be sitting in a dusty old box at the back of a store room.1 point

Mine have arrived, thanks Bibs. However I have been given 3 tickets, numbers 05852, 05853, 05854, does that mean I can carry an extra person in the boot on the way down and they will be admitted if they survive the journey!!!!🤣1 point

Down the bottom of the console. Not the top. Little bit in front of the cupholders. If you don't have gimballed cupholders in a sports car, won't you just get your expensive Soy Latte Frappachino sploshing out of the cup and onto your gentlemen or lady parts?1 point

Imo on a car that weighs as much as the Evora does the only 'real world' noticeable difference a 10kg lighter set of wheels is going to make is when you have to take them off the car and are physically having to handle them... They look nice though! I'd be buying them on style not on the basis I'm getting 0.14s of better acceleration in the mid range, my arse could never measure that difference, my eyes would see it though...1 point

Oil went over $13.00 per barrel Margaret Thatcher became the leader of the opposition for the Conservative party in the UK. Vietnam's bloodiest battles raged The Vietnam War ends Sony introduces Betamax videotapes and Matsushita / JVC introduce VHS First blockbuster movie, Jaws, was released Franco died UK inflation rate was 24% I had my 8th birthday. Quite an eventful year really Stuart. You no very well what people are saying but keeping with the pedantry it sounds like you'd be happy to the same referendum every year as the result should not be respected. However I guess that if you get the vote result you want you'll be pretty miffed when the losing team works so hard to overturn it and, oh yes, have another referendum. Great. Super. Can't wait. Fill yer boots. The point is we were told this was a generational one off vote. A generation is generally regarded and accepted as being a period of around 30 years. So since 1975 that's 43 years so maybe it was about time for a review as a lot of the people who took us in to the Common Market are dead and gone and we have almost 2 new full sets of voters who have arrived on the scene since then as you have to be 18 to vote. Hopefully this helps to present a reasonable view on why we should not have another vote. However as a large number of Remainers are anything but reasonable ( more like a crying Lilly Allan twittering call 999 as I've been robbedat the awards last night) I expect we'll be forced into another referendum early in 2019.1 point

I would think these were aftermarket only, not a factory fit on a volume car. That was the same as other items on these cars such as the mirrors, aerial etc. They seem to be simply retail kits which they used. I would bet these speakers appeared all over the place at the time such as on boats, maybe even light aircraft etc but likely virtually none left now.1 point

Will be fine Pete,, Only easy as you went through all the effort to heat and freeze the items. Makes a change to see lotus bits pictured by an oven on here, it is normally the dishwasher that gets used for most lotus bits in the kitchen lol1 point

I bought a set of these speakers along with a Maystar head unit in 1985, they were stocked and sold by small independent motor factors. I still remember the display in my local parts shop, and many a night out with those speakers blasting out AC/DC and Black Sabbath in my Mk3 Cortina. Unfortunately the Cortina and the speakers went to the scrap yard many years ago.1 point

Nope. I'm describing the Jaguar XJ setup from 10 years plus ago that the Geermans obviously ripped off and 10 years later put in their skips! To be honest, I think the whole "screens" thing is overhyped. Voice activation has to be better than pissing about with a touch activated screen. Safer too. It just seems that everyone these days is fascinated and addicted to electronic screens. Had it in the airport earlier. Bloke walking along, head down, totally oblivious with his thumbs twirling around his keyboard not looking where he was going. At the last minute i stepped out of the way but damn, just did not move my wheelie bag quick enough so down he went. He gave me a WTF look and I just politely said "well, if were fooking looking where you were going rather than at that little screen you'd have seen me and the bag you muppet". Surprisingly that seemed to end the conversation there and then. Oh well, seemed like a nice chap too. Woman drinking her fizzy wine at the posh "salmon and champagne" stall in the airport was literally wetting herself laughing. Anyway back on topic. Screens are a distraction and if you can voice to activate you only need them to confirm the response (i.e. you can see air con has changed, the radio channel has changed etc). Much safer and means that the designers can really play with the whole dash layout. You might even get some heated cupholders, as no doubt that is what will be asked for next. I always thought a sports car was about the drive. How wrong I am as even that great sports car maker Porsche seems to thing that a big ugly box weighing 5 tons, with a 747 diesel engine and 4 turbo's strapped on it is a, errrm, well, it would seem, a Sports Car! Range Rover are no better with their "Sport" versions of the RR and Defender. How many times have the pricks who drive these things cut you up and tried to race you? Anyway. i am obviously in the minority on this which is fine as if Lotus do go all upmarket to Ferrari and Aston prices my next car will be an Ultima Evolution Coupe and not something made in Hethel unfortunately. i wonder what size tablet screen that has?.............1 point

It won't account for the extra but the S2 exhaust was quite different. I think the rear box was bigger and it had a mid box which the S1 didn't have.1 point

Lotus just can't win can they. You guys have been bitching and a moaning about lack of gadgets, ICE not being custom, gizmos and cup holders and cubby holes for your moustache cream and other metrosexual accessories and such like. So Lotus listen, stick an ipad (a god awful over priced contraption) in a SUV (which is bad enough in itself) and you still complain. Ever thought about a Kia Soul - it has all the toys you need and can fill your boots with, literally.1 point
