  1. My car is usually parked under an ash tree. With my old S2 Elise a frequent job in the Autumn was removing the front access panels to remove all the annoying leaves that fell into the radiator. If left they'd eventually turn into a slimy mush. Now with my new Evora, access to the top of radiator is a clam off job so more careful thought is required. Hence my latest Heath Robinson solution inspired by those engine intake covers that they use on jet fighter aircraft. Corrugated plastic sheet, cut to size with scissors using a cereal packet card template, and held in place with loops of elastic bungee cord that I'm going to leave on the car until spring comes around. Where do I apply for my patent? Out of interest, are those finer wire mesh grills that are used on certain Evora 4x0 models a straight swap for the plastic grills with the big holes that I have on my car? They'd solve the problem too. So would ash dieback disease.

  4. It's an interesting topic of discussion, I've driven a Cup 430 and it's a fantastic car. For a financial perspective, I don't expect to see any of my money back from my mods if I were to sell the car, so the 430 Cup is much better in that respect, although at the same time, at £110k+, I think the 430 has quite a lot of room for depreciation. Comparing my car with a 430 Cup, mine has a few more revs at the top end where the power really crescendos, which I missed on the 430. The straight line performance however is very similar as the 430 is a lighter car thanks to so much carbon bling. I have the Nitron 3 way dampers from the 430, so the handling is very similar indeed, but the Komo-tec brakes with PF pads stop considerably better than the 430 I drove, which I found myself outbraving myself a couple of times as I was expecting more braking power. I believe the Exige should have come with an LSD, and I wouldn't fancy cracking open the gearbox of a brand new 430 personally. On the interior, I believe my car is much nicer, and it's unique to me. The Tillett Seats are much more comfortable than the factory seats, so this is something I'd want in a 430. A 430 still has shitty air vents... In terms of costs, I try not to keep an exact total, but I think it's in the £30k sort of region on mods and running costs since I got the car. Utter madness, and not easy to justify to be honest, but considering my car was £45k when I bought it, that puts the total to about £75k, which is still £35k cheaper than a 430 Cup. Having done a load of these modifications to my car, I'd want to do similar again if I had a 430 Cup, which would add maybe £10k+ again (seats, LSD, brakes, trimming. A personal thing for me, I still prefer the look of the Exige S to the 430. The front end of the 430 is a very busy design to my eyes and doesn't work as well. To me, the 380 Cup was the perfect design, although I couldn't live with the low rev limit on a 380 personally. The last thing to mention is that the process of modifying the car has been very enjoyable for me, it's given me something so obsess over and I've really loved the process of adding new things and seeing what difference they make to the car, and I'm pleased to say that pretty much everything I've done to the car has enhanced it and, for me, made it a better car. For someone who doesn't like to modify cars, the 430 Cup is the perfect solution, but if you're prepared to take a few risks, the modifying route actually makes a lot of sense to me. To me, the 430 seems like a factory effort at modifying the Exige S, and it's a damn fine attempt (apart from lack of LSD). Edit to add: I couldn't afford a £110k Exige anyway 😬

  5. Weighed my 430 today 1,100 Kg with all fluids and half a tank of fuel, ac etc. Pretty accurate compared to official dry weight of 1,059

  6. Personally I think Seb's involvement with Lotus was a good thing, he brought the brand to an audience who otherwise wouldn't care about them - they probably aren't the kind of people who will buy the product but if they can make it an aspirational brand for them, perfect. And @scotty435 Sam is a great guy and one of the hardest working YTers out there. He did a video on the 400 which was very positive, all good stuff but having spoken to a number of media professionals Lotus is a hard brand for them to support in the face of the ludicrous cash their rivals have for marketing departments. Bit of a shame Sam's video at Lotus was a Jaguar review.

  8. @Danni Neither the supercharger or lack of dealer help were the cause of my sale of the car, that'd be a fairly silly thing to do. I have been considering selling for a while, and had the opportunity to move the car in a private sale to another enthusiast. The supercharger incident was certainly a catalyst, but far from the cause. I'm not going to own a Lotus for a while but will continue to champion the cars, people and dealers.

  12. I`m going to have to withdraw - but for the best of reasons. Instead of the S4s, I managed to get my old Project GT1 back. Without the S4s, I have no need for the manifold although it would make an exceptional piece of expensive desk art..... Sorry to bow out.

  14. Lotus are not only looking at the next couple of years they are looking at tomorrow under Geely. Not sure if you was down at Hethel for the 70th but after that weekend there can be no doubts they have massive aspirations with the finance to back it. Not saying the guys I have already mentioned in my previous post are the only people that can help Lotus the such likes of Bibs who there can be no doubt without him the 70th would not have happened, the true enthusiasts, guys like him mean a lot to the Chinese. just get the feeling that you have jumped the ship a bit early, under the new management there could have been a space for you.

  17. Hi, Serial Lotus owner here, I’ve had an Elise SC, NA Evora, V6 Exige roadster and and Elan +2 previously. I’ve just replace my M4 convertible with the purple Howard’s Lotus demo 410 sport 😀 So far it’s very impressive, just got to sort the seats out with Jon Seals brackets tomorrow. pics :-

  19. @Steffen_Leitgeb-LSWGmbh Very good point. The reality is that Lotus has done an incredible job of surviving with so little meaningful investment to date. For that we should be thankful and acknowledge that things will get better. @RichardC Perhaps Seb does not appeal to the typical ‘current’ Lotus owner but working with content creators like him is a wise long term investment if it increases brand visibility and desire within a younger demographic. Lotus cars deserve to adorn bedroom walls (and lock screen wallpapers) just like Lamborghinis and Ferrari’s.

  26. Yep, but mine is a G60 and I've had it for over 7 years, and still makes 0,82 bar stock standard. New bearing and sealings at every 75.000 km. in the compressor is obligatory - then it lasts fine. No silly smaller gearing and chip to make the g-lader explode. You can differentiate between VR6 models and G60, 2,0 and 1,816v by looking at the bonnet. the middle section is higher on the VR6 cars for example. The Corrado is a partially handbuilt car made by Karmann in Osnabrück. 89.000 examples of which supossedly less than half is left today, usually because it's been vandalised by youngsters for a decade. For comparison the Porsche 911-996 first watercooled was made in 176.000 examples. The bodyshell is more than 60 percent stiffer than say the Golf 2 G60, which already had glued in window screens rather than held by rubber parts only. My particular example is a late 1991 version, and that gives more power 190hp, same as 2,9 Liter VR6 car, by Means of a factory made better cylindherhead, inlet manifold and exhaust manifold, installed on late 1991 cars, which was originally developed by the now defunct VW Motorsport (not to be confused with todays vw Racing), for inserting cars in german Bergrennen - german version of hill climbing. By far the best front Wheel drive I've come across so far. 989 Kilo of fun Kind regards, Jacques

  27. Congrats on the new car. This purple 410 was a strong contender when I was searching for mine but I ended up deciding on an Auto, so didn’t view it. Welcome to the exclusive 410 club & drive in good health 😊

  28. That's fine JeyEmm! Infact that is what I was thinking about, I mean, wouldn't be a good reason to sell it because of the supercharger failure!! I am facing the same problem with the supercharger and probably I will have to spend quite a big amount of money to fix it! anyway, the idea to sell the evora because of this is still far away in my mind....! And I hope will be like this for a long time! Fingers crossed! 😁😜

  29. I know we all have a passion for the brand and may be biased however , the people who have commented on that atricle on the EDP website really do need to be put down. Jealous , horrible, irrelevant, oxygen thief’s who want everything to fail. It is those type of people who make my blood boil.

  30. The Win Ace website often goes a bit screwy, so it might just be that. His US distributor, Sherman @ Hethelsport, has still got them listed: http://www.hethelsport.com/exterior/front-bumpers/gtc-front-bumper/ For the UK, try asking @YvoTuk from elise-shop.com. He is the Win Ace UK distributor. Actually, he also still has them listed: https://elise-shop.com/evora-gtc-front-bumper-evora-evora-s-evora-400-p-503341.html?zenid=19978f07ce6205761e3b7fd5cc1620d9

  36. A couple of small updates on the car... I have silencer add ons on their way from 2Bular to hopefully get the noise down for a couple of particularly quiet track days I have coming up with a 98db static. I think I'm at that level anyway, but I'd prefer to be totally safe. I believe they'll be the same as these: So I'll be at Abingdon on 12th October in both the Caterham and Exige. I'll mainly be driving the Caterham to shake it down and learn to drive it hard again. On November 19th, I've booked onto the Silverstone GP day (run by Silverstone), it'd be great to see some other Exiges there. In terms of the car, not much has been done for a while now and I haven't been using the car as much as I used to as the Caterham is normally first choice for a drive! Having said that, I've booked the car in for a full detail with Miracle Detail. Paul at Miracle Detail is one of the first detailers and really is top notch. The car has some orange peel and is looking a little faded compared to how I know it can look, so paint correction, then a Modesta Ceramic Coating on all the car will really freshen the car up. Some photos from a drive down to Goodwood yesterday, it needs a clean!

  37. Yes, that attitude is common. Mostly from folks who are behind the curve and late to the party. Prices are still reasonable, just slow. Mainly due to folk asking too high a price for the current market. They need to get real. Or hang on.

  42. ‘I’ haven’t, but on my specialist’s try to remove the lower link stud it snapped :( the snap was two shades so think it may have had a hairline crack to start. Mike at Lotus bits is on the case, seems lefts sides aren’t a problem but right are rarer but he’s confident he can get one. Just hope it’s not to expensive
