  1. Got my car back from being detailed today by Zenith Detailing. After being let down by another detailer before, Zenith really impressed me with their service! They picked up and dropped off the car in a covered transporter for a start, which is very useful. Then they did the full works on the car to make it perfect. The car is at 48k miles now, so having a proper detail has really freshened it up. To be honest, I can't believe how much of a difference there is, it shows how dull the paint had got over time, and although it certainly didn't look bad before, it truly looks brilliant now. Cer

  2. Lol Exige 380 + summer owners meet at mine then (epic roads to!) It’s a tad extravagant and wasn’t planned. But me and a mate got sh1tfaced when my wife and kids away with family and decided to build a lodge for her as an anniversary gift and got a bit carried away (as we do we have form for stupid drunk ideas). Never done anything like that before as an work in IT Delivery. But 4 weekends later we smashed it - Really enjoyed it to! Next up when I save some cash a toilet /shower block and a swimming pool.

  5. Back in March 2018 I took what I hope won't prove to be a miguided chance and bought a running S4s in need of tidying up. As one of my good friends aptly described it, the car has been "thrown back together" so while everything is largely there and working a lot of it hasn't been put back together with a great deal of care, so lots of things aren't fixed in where they are supposed to be. Seems this car was a topic of debate on here when it went up for sale last year, so I thought I would start a thread on the work I have and will be doing on it as time allows. Here it is all tucked

  7. Wastegate Rebuilt with new diaphragm and gaskets from this pic. Had to buy the mega expensive Wastegate adapter to get one with an intact valve seat! New studs. Should get full boost from this little baby! Still need to pressure test the Wastegate, in the meantime on to a few fiberglass repairs and the engine!

  10. Defo would not leave them off, they are made from a hard steel and spread the load of the bolt heads which are quite small. The boot holders are just thin mild steel. Its interesting that on the Esprit with inboard brakes the CV joints are loaded both directions. This is quite unique. Normally the advice on driveshafts is they should always be fitted back on the car the same way they came off to avoid reversing the load but this happens all the time on these cars! Doesnt seem to cause any problem though.

  11. I am pretty sure the CV joints are the same as on Ferrari 3x8, I can check this when I get back from holiday. If so, all the bits are available here: http://www.superformance.co.uk/308/driveshaft.html

  12. Lol Chantelle or ..... A few seeds in the green house of the herbal variety £16 (and wait circa 12 weeks) A bottle of Vodka (on special for £12) or crate of Stella A few steaks on the indoor BBQ (£12). Then some free sexy time in the in door BBQ for pudding. Whilst I love a drive that’s MUCH more enjoyable and it may or may not have been tested

  13. No problem. You laziness is costing you thousands but, it is your money and therefore your choice and I respect that. Each to their own and we all know what we are looking for. I bought my wife a brand new 4wd Qahqai, top of the range with everything for £24k. I could have spent 2.5 times that on a similar spec RR Vogue that woukd do the same job with better quality interior plastic and leather but much poorer reliability but luckily for me she isn't bothered by the cars label. So that gave me £30k towards my 410 sport.... Hehehe

  14. This is not a blip, the Chinese car market has been slowing lately... Geely's shares like all other Chinese carmaker are taking a bath right now. US-China trade war is/was not helping. However according to analysts, Geely remained a buy as of September 2018 https://seekingalpha.com/article/4203878-geely-poster-child-buy-blood-streets. Geely Group (ZHG) is still set for global expansion with Lynk & Co still poised to enter both the European market in the next four years and the US market shortly after that. Proton is gearing up for Asean re-expansion while the Geely 's own brand is

  16. I left my 2016 Evora 400 with Howards Lotus in Weston-Super-Mare today, as it's still under Lotus warranty 'till April and I'd like to get a few niggles sorted out. Specifically... 1. MOAR (Mother of All Rattles). I try not to notice the odd squeak or rattle. Almost every car has 'em, and I certainly didn't go into Lotus ownership expecting zero NVH. In fact, I quite like the raw character. But, the dash in my Evora takes the pee. It rattles really loudly, it's not right. 2. The boot lid very occasionally refuses to open. I hear the unlock mechanism do its thing, but the lid refuses

  22. I don't think that poll shows anything at all. I do agree though that generally the mood of the public isn't proportionally represented in Parliament. But that is nothing new. I'd say it was the opposite, the BBC is marginally anti-brexit.

  23. I see it is nearly 5 years since I took the plunge and fitted a LotusBits exhaust to the Excel. Nearly 13,000 miles on and it is as good as ever, in fact better than when installed. It pops on the over-run and cackles like spitting coals on a hot fire. The engine revs easily, I am sure the lightened flywheel helps as much as the exhaust. If you like a racy exhaust and want your engine to breath and can spare £3.5K, it really is worth it. I was very apprehensive about spending the dosh on something the car did not need (the old exhaust was in fine condition but the engine felt tight) but I can

  28. Kawasaki Green is another cool choice. The Exige is such a good design, seems to suit loads of colours, bright and dark.

  29. Yup, I bought one for my 410. Very happy with the fit and quality. One thing to bear in mind: I ordered the holdall to keep the cover in when not in use, but the cover comes with a stow bag so I don't really need it

  30. That chart is a bit misleading. The referendum vote is split in two. I think the advantage of a no deal Brexit is that at least it would provide some certainty. The issues will move to managing the impact, which at least will change the current climate. I don’t think it will happen though. If no deal doesn’t or can’t happen then we need a delay or ideally (in my view) no Brexit at all.

  32. I decided to revisit what I though I already knew and it seems that since I did my first testing my vacuum pump has ceased functioning correctly. When I did my previous testing I'd isolated the pump and proven that it would shut off when I stuck my finger over its outlet, hence the belief that the fault was in the pipes somewhere. When I tried the same test again the other day, the pump wouldn't shut off at all, so either a sensor inside has failed, or my my likely suspicion is that it was generating a very weak vacuum before and it wasn't enough to shut the pump off with all the pipes connect

  36. The door’s not shut so I’m not worrying about that. And I thought it was an Elite and Eclat design decision that the headlamps sat slightly below the bonnet line?! Mine always have! Anyway that sunshine is about twenty years old now. And the door and pop-ups are of little worry, they’re currently not attached to the car. Nor is the interior. Or the front suspension. Or the engine for that matter...

  45. Still deep into the complete rebuild of my Elite, everything takes longer than you hope and real life has a habit of getting in the way. But I managed to contact some of the previous owners and get some snaps of past glories. And these are my new inspiration. One day...

  46. Removed mine this arvo. Was WAAAAY easier than it was when I tried in winter (38 here today), but still a bitch of a job. Blisters on my fingers from pulling (it's strong stuff and stuck in well after 8 years)! Unfortunately left a few patches of sticky residue which actually took longer to remove than the 3M. Tried eucalyptus oil, goo remover, metho etc, but found WD40 to be the best. Paint is as new now! No more crazed, marked PPF. Will give it a good polish and wax tomorrow.
