Got some of alias23 side skirts and finished fitting them. Took me 3 hours all in (I didn't rush it) and had fitted similar things before. (You need a rivnut kit but they're cheap on ebay). Main time spent was just positioning them how I wanted and as I didn't want them so far out, (I moved them 3cm in from their designed position) as I wanted a more subtle look,, I reshaped the front end slightly, which was easy. I had fully planned painting them, to match the splitter and rear canards but once the protective film was peeled off, they very closely matched the rear canards and6 points

Just acquired this at the weekend off an old mate. Needs loads of work but chassis seems solid and body not bad but needs paint obviously. Planning a full restoration and if everything measures up then it will be getting a Lexus/Toyota 3UZ 4.3vvti V8 mated to a 6spd BMW diesel gearbox to help it get down the road 😎 A space that needs filling......2 points

Wallet's are overrated. Empty it out and invest the contents wisely in that Aquamarine Evora.2 points

Regarding the new owner's video above. What a strange guy. I think he was more excited about making his moaning video than enjoying his 1 day old car. Most of the "issues" he raises are laughable. He has a 400 specced up with the expensive lightweight c/f roof and c/f rear hatch and then he moans that he hasn't got a glass hatch! WTF! Next up he's worrying about things falling in the bonnet vents. There are so many more daft points mentioned, it's embarassing to watch. Maybe he's the one American customer who fell for the "It's not for you" marketing strategy!2 points

Evora passed MOT with flying colours, She's taxed and insured. However Insurance went up £80. After calling around I managed to get it £50 cheaper than my current cost, £130 less than AIB increased my policy to. Called AIB to cancel and they matched it, but with Breakdown recovery included. Sorted!2 points

Update: After hosing it down with WD40 yesterday evening, I checking it this morning, and there is a good 90% improvement, almost back to normal. Probably still worth booking it in as I can get this and a few other little things done at the same time. Got a 400 mile round trip at the end of April so best to know it's right.2 points

Isn't that the way to win? Even Chapman and Lotus used some of the best drivers in the world! The winning formula is as you said, but it starts with the vision, resources and determination to get to where you need to be.2 points

hi all, I done something similar to mine, black gloss on roof and sills, gloss black wheels and I replaced the mirror covers for gloss black also, thinking of changing the wheel caps and nose badge for black as well .....2 points

Another old and new theme... thatched cottage is a few hundred years old but only when looking at the photo did I notice the similarity between the curves of the thatch and the line of the Evora. Perhaps I'll have to reshoot that one and line them up... (Next shot will have silver summer wheels & tyres.)2 points

Finally got my PS4S's fitted and am most impressed so far. Noticeably quieter and the ride feels softer too. I also haven't encountered the 'skipping' that would occur with the Pirellis when manoeuvring on full lock at low speeds. I have no intent of using them on track but for road use they certainly get my vote1 point

I second Martin's comments....very good product at a very reasonable price. Thanks Imran. I went with the aggressive install...not worried about slicing any passengers or pedestrians. . Also decided to wrap the sills....this time with CF, maybe a redo in matte black when they get beat up on track. 3M (1080 wrap-film) makes several matte blacks, one of which is a very close match to the matte black painted pieces on my CupR. A few photos, not the best, taken right after the install was done in my garage. I will hopefully post some better shots once the car is cleaned up and out1 point

Interesting fact: This happens on the Ferrari F355 with F1 paddle shift, the hydraulic pump relay chatters, then sticks closed, pump overheats and burns out. replacement pump £6000.1 point

Did this US customer buy the car sight unseen, with no prior testing and no discussion with his dealer??? Why didn't he get a classic 400 with the glass lid that is still available... The comments about dropping his car at a "port" for a 2/3 week period is mindboggling. Would any of you guys leave his pride and joy and arguably second car at a carpark for that long? Anyway by the sound of it the next Lotus model shall satisfy the likes of him. In the meantime I found a 2010 aquamarine... lucky for me my wallet says no but my brain is so full of yes and YOLO.1 point

I know all of that! Agree 100% and thats why I am not running with this setup, I am looking for a switch with hysteresis. They are available, even with adjustable hysteresis: Example: https://docs-emea.rs-online.com/webdocs/14b8/0900766b814b8630.pdf But this is an expensive one and has a transistor output. Hopefully a mechanical one designed for this application will work and be simpler to exchange for the one I am using now.1 point

yes, really pleased with them, a nice finishing touch. Its not an Elise, its my daughters VX220 that's had a few light mods along the way. Martin1 point

Owning a Ferrari 328 GTS and an Esprit shows up how good the Esprit chassis is by comparison with its contemporary. You can actually feel the Ferrari twist while driving on uneven Surrey roads. You cant jack up one corner of the car as it starts to bend, you can actually see it twist. The Ferrari chassis is made from a flat ladder construction of oval steel tubes (no galvanising) with riser sections for the suspension made of thin square or rectangular tube. The front wings are supported only by outriggers of 20mm square tube so no strength at all and the floorpan is a fibregla1 point

Good news, but do get it replaced as it will stiffen up again eventually, and if you don't, you'll be worrying if it was going to go again.1 point

Very good point Steve But the added bonus with an alloy one, you could pick up two by having one under each arm lol. But i know what you mean that the chassis can be picked up, just one door alone weights a hefty amount with the door beam inside and glass fitted !1 point

A fool and his money were easily parted there me thinks. That guy in the video obviously had not done any real research before buying a car that obviously isn't for him. Bonkers.1 point

Hey there, It went really well. More cars then I thought. We had a nice display at lotus of Naples. We even got to meet the regional lotus rep, he flew in for the event. I made a thread on lotus talk forums with pictures named : SWFL lotus takeover picture thread. I will also post pictures on here . Check it out if you get a minute. Thanks again Joe Here are a few pictures I took from the event. Thanks1 point

I've just gone from PZeros to PS4s (not PS4S) on the rear. Great video on PS4 vs PS4S here:1 point

Great event, weather was good , took my youngest and he was amazed by how much quicker the F3 cars could take Craner. The winning Lotus also looked pretty good through there as well Thanks for the tickets1 point

OK, now Wayne's happy.....................…. My two-pennyworth - I used the same vacuum switch on many brake conversions now, and they worked perfectly. The only difference I could see is where they are mounted, which is well away from the engine inlet manifold, in the front luggage compartment. I suspect the vacuum pulses from the engine could somehow be causing the problem, causing the switch to cycle rapidly, and hence the relay chatter. I have no proof of this, and cannot confirm it will solve the issue, but I suggest a switch move is definitely worth a try, even just a jury-rigged af1 point

Conviction + financial, technical and human resources... 3 of the 4 drivers have one in total no less than 8 WTCC titles.1 point

A very noticeable nose dip on the nearside front on braking. Doing a 'bounce' test by pressing down on the wings offered no damping on that side - it was possible to bounce the front easily - whereas the right hardly bounced at all. Screwing the adjustment screw all the way in on both dampers as a test had the offside hard as a rock, but no change at all to the nearside.1 point

Just ordered the GPS sensor to upgrade the Motec dash to log info and support lap timing/predictive timing ETC. Does anyone know the location of the wiring connect on the 3Eleven to connect the GPS sensor too please??1 point

I wanted to order them in 8x17 ET25 and 10x18 ET33 as that should be the spec on the bronze ones on the pictures above. But on my cup r there were some spacers fitted for clearance at the rear and without them the wheel was almost touching inside and I did not understood what was the difference. I knew there were some different than standard ohlins springs fitted with slightly bigger outer diameter but the wheels I could try to fit (exige cup 380 10x18 ET32 with 285 tyres) were also very close to the top mount To make it short I think that the larger tyre (on the pictures of the1 point

And now for some good news... in the distributor department. It doesn't look better just because it's new. It's also better. Time to ditch the ballast resistor wiring and selectiom of worn and mismatched components from the elite/sunbeam crossbreed1 point

Interesting. Maybe the "NEW" manufactured material "Metallic Wood" would be interesting as the prices for new composites & exotic materials come down but of course Lotus is known for "bonding" different materials together so partial mixed alloys with ??Who know, I've always loved the Esprit chassis, way ahead of it's time & ready for new materials to be utilized to see it's full potential today ...... new Esprit? :))1 point

Gearbox All cleaned and vapour blasted. Like the engine I am going to keep some vapour blasted with ACF50 and paint the rest. I have a brand new third gear to install and have just ordered a new front pinion bearing. I figured I might as well put a new one in then the front bearings are all new. All The rears are very reliable on this gearbox. So with the new third gear I just need to reassemble. I have ordered a spring balance for calibration. I'm enjoying the challenge of the gearbox so far it's straightforward, with only two shafts.1 point
