  1. Picked the car up today after having a set of new Pirelli’s and two NOS Dellortos fitted and had a fantastic drive home - the engine sang and I will never ever ever tire of the turbo whistle😊

  2. Evening folks! So a guy I know from a Jaguar XJ-S forum (apols in advance for cheating!) has sent me through some behind-the-scene on set shots from TSWLM he has which he doesn't think have ever been published - they were from a private collection from a friend of his who used to own the Cars of the Stars Motor Museum. I certainly haven't seen them before, so thought I'd share a few of them as some of you might be interested

  8. That Allegro estate looks like a Hearse! Sooo much glass.......... I have MPW75V as being Passed to Sale (leaving the factory) on 4th June 1980. As mentioned it was a Pre-Prod car. Its also listed as being used for a Demo at Le Mans that year. I also have its now in Japan but no other info on that.................

  17. Hi Imran, I fitted the air intake that I recently bought from you. Great high quality product, easy to follow instructions although I managed without jacking the car up and taking the wheel off. My next order will be for a pair of those side mirrors as I hate the standard ones. I assume the installation is pretty straight forward again.

  21. Hi Dave, Mini will be running a 1310 with 10.5 c/r based on a 1300GT engine, A+ rods, Nural pistons, Cooper S head, 276 cam, light steel flywheel and clutch and full balanced bottom end, lightened steel duplex timing gears with a SC box with Abingdon ST ratios. Will probably go with 1.5" twin SU's, if only for the looks as I find a single 1.75" more friendly Going for the Nick Swift 'racer' look so rose petals will be the order of the day. Tweed Grey with a black roof Shell is currently away for paint and due back in the next few weeks - looking foward to the build now, good to

  26. Sorry about that Mark. I was made redundant in 2011. Went on my own for a couple of years (IT consultancy) but, like you, it was up and down. Maybe we should go into the hydraulics business together? Good luck

  27. Cheers for your comments chaps. Much appreciated and some good advice there. It’s a real kick in the teeth but they said they couldn’t afford me anymore. Glad to be leaving though, hadn’t been enjoying it for the last year. I was made redundant in 2013 too, after 14 years with the previous company, I was gutted. Yes I will phone up a few old work mates. Think it will take a while to find another job.

  28. Mark, totally feel for you and see this all the time in ship building, directors change on a monthly basis while the front line are dealing with a massive trade shortage with SQEP being a rare breed these days. Trevor is right now is the time to draw on your friends and years of contacts, people pull together and doors do open, remember experience and life skills count for far more than paper qualifications. Good luck for the future and only hope the redundancy has given you room to adjust and seek future work. All the best Dave

  29. I've had to admit defeat on trying to get the inboard Jag brakes to fit within the confines of the Lotus chassis, especially the handbrake, as there's just not the room to do it. So plan B went into operation today when I picked up a complete axle from an X300 XJ6. These used big 305mm outboard discs with an internal handbrake drum. Apparently, according to google, these can be retrofitted to the earlier XJS diff / arms / shafts to move the brakes outboard. It will mean an increase in unsprung weight but it does seem the best option and will let me add strength back into the chassis again wher

  32. OP, try the 400 then . It's great when "on it", its good in traffic. It's not so brilliant when stuck in a cue of traffic at 40ish MPH. I've had both, for a daily the Auto all the time, fast road use probably also the Auto, Track, probably not. I've had both and done upwards of 20k miles in each, so feel I have a good handle on it. The 400 is a step up from the S IPS that I drove.

  34. Don't worry about stuff you can't control or influence, you'll die of a heart attack that way! This is what drives the hysteria. You know, people can catch a cold, the flu, then another cold and then finally a flu virus all in one season. Most live. A small number don't. And that has been happening every year since millenia. A neighbour of mine who smokes 40 cigarettes a day, and has done for over 25 years, told me this morning they were worried about the health implications of the Corona virus. I just laughed in his face and said WTF, really? People really are silly at times. Just be s

  38. Parks are getting the full franchise as I understand it - no doubt news will be broken soon now that they’ve taken the first step above.......this is probably the best news we could have hoped for in Scotland. I would imagine there will likely be additional site/sites in the future once things start to move forward in a couple of years......when there’s more demand for the product and the subsequent service requirements🤞 For now this is a positive step forward for Lotus in Scotland after a time of serious uncertainty......

  39. Why? Do we put up with a child telling us what we should and shouldn't be doing and spreading Alarm by using rediculous catchphrases that everyone uses as headlines. Also why do we accept children going on strike to avoid school (lets face it. it's why they do it) yet fine Parents when they take them on holiday? Greta Thunberg Bristol climate strike: 'The world is on fire' https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-51663632 Oh and BTW, after 2 weeks of solid rain, I don't think we'll be on fire any time soon!

  42. They should perform DNA tests on cars. Could be bad news for Porsche Cayenne owners. And quite few other 'prestige' wagons that have little to do with the expensive badge. Aston Martin.... Toyota MR2 Mk1....DNA would be Lotus heavy. Justin

  46. Only P1405 is related to EGR, P0447 and P0453 are related to the canister purge / vent and P1311 is the rough road sensor. The service notes state these are all for USA spec. cars so I suspect your chips are for federal spec. engines.

  48. The Excel chassis is a tempting sounding conversion that has been done often, and I would personally love to do, but am willing to bet it's not as easy as just saying it.. You do need to modify the rear tunnel, the rear body mounting points, and the petrol tank. Also need to convert to a hydraulic clutch. Lotusbits have the conversion down to a tee, but you will pay for experience. You may also be disappointed if you expect it to perform like your Corrado; manufacturers had pretty much nailed the drive-ability/reliability conundrum by the 90s, whereas the Elite is a product of the 70s
