  1. Started fibreglassing in the frunk this morning. Due to the number and nature of the cracks/holes I'm going to have to do the repairs in two stages over the next few days. I've rebonded the first portion of the bonnet support structure (not sure what its officially called) to the frunk floor. The clamping looks a bit heath robinson, but its about the only way I could hold everything in place with what I had at my diposal. Hopefully the repair will hold; I'll find out in another couple of hours! I used some of the West System epoxy I bought for the repair mixed with some of their fillers t

  2. Today is a good day - last night I looked at taxing the car - however the mot expired on the 22/03/20!! Wash the car off - take it for a quick spin. Turn it round in the lay-by down the road - boot her hard out of the gravel and she ran like an utter bag of spanners. Limped home and upto the garage. Some brief head scratching - and grabbed the airline and blew all the water out the spark plug wells and off the leads. Never wash an esprit without the engine cover fitted!! anyway - she’s now back home - having passed her mot just the geo to get set up now

  4. Meanwhile here in Denmark, many of the same talks were similar. But when schools reopened, there was no rise in affected people. Then most of the working people returned to their jobs, there have been no rise in affected people. It is also found that children are pretty good in handwashing, in fact better and more often than grown ups who now are getting sloppy because "they know better". I have been on work during the whole time, and I have found children to be very worried about getting ill and I've had to have talks with them to ease their worries, and to be honest, they are

  5. Seems the Esprit S1 owners always think their cars are the most valuable, must be something to do with all the wannabee James Bond types that buy them. The "JPS" boys seem to think theirs are the most valuable....lots of wannabee World Champion owners. The Essex Turbo boys are sure theirs are the most valuable...lots of Essex boy wannabees driving those around. Doesn't seem to matter what Esprit we drive, we all think our car is the most valuable. At the end of the day it comes down to the market and what actual cars are selling for. My "JPS" is the most valuable as it will never be for sale a

  6. Care about you too Andy and everyone else here too I do apologies also for coming across insensitive sometimes. I am just absolutely petrified about our willingness to give up hard earned freedoms at the drop of a hat. Even Boris joked that taking away freedoms is easier than giving them back. Once you understand the Tavistock institutes work on controlling by social programming you can see it being employed every where and that really scares me. I hope I am wrong and everything gets back to normal. Last thing I feel we need to do is to give the government, polic

  7. Can't get my wing mirrors to play ball! The drivers side works on only 3 solonoids so I get some movement and the passenger's side stopped working altogether as I was testing it! This brings me back to the modern wing mirror motors I brought! Driver seat is now in and I have sat in the seat for the first time ever! Now I'll get the engine started tomorrow to test the clutch as this feels funny! Perhaps I'm just not used to it but to get it moving under its own power would be a big step forward.

  8. The template has been removed from under the rear body mount repair and the edges all tidied up. I'm not going to paint this area right now because the areas all around the boot floor need attention, but I want to get it back on the road and running before I tackle that. I need to leave it supported off the chassis for another 24 hours before I can put it under load according the epoxy desctructions. Overall I'm very happy with the finish and the area around the bolt hole feels rock solid now. Serck gave the chargecooler/condensor pack a pressure test when they re-conditioned

  13. Thanks for all the replies! One poster asked what was wrong with my black S2, it went a few years ago as part exchange for a Porsche (we had kids on the way and reality struck me that without a 2+2, my sports car days were temporarily over!) I ran the S2 alongside an SE for around four years, my Esprit ownership in total was around 10 years (which equates to several lifetimes in Lotus years and I hope qualified me as some kind of enthusiast!) They were everyday cars at one point in my ownership. The car I miss the most is the S2 though. I really wanted an S1 but was guided

The resistor mount for the flashing light : Gopro support : The rear gopro support works well but we need a little adjustment to make a final release : box in black and the lotus logo in red. 26. Agree! I was just discussing with my partner if I’d have traded the latest 911 I have for the Esprit (she used to drive the Esprit) or bought it back outright if the price had been right, but it’s moot now. Glad to see it went eventually to a good home, someone needed to take it by the scruff and lift the body, sort everything and make it good for another decade and it looks like it’s been done. I think while I wanted to be that person reading the blogs on here, deep down I was happier driving it than being under it (don’t get me wrong, I did a load of work such as tank swaps etc on

  30. Thanks Paul, Think it’s my old car, ten years owned from 2002 to 2012, dealer was going to restore it but flipped it himself a month after I traded it to him. I can still see some of the leather repairs in the images and the alarm LED someone had mounted in the binnacle before my ownership. Passed a message on if the new owner wants to contact me to discuss the period of my ownership, as it was an interesting car (in a good way) and I have old photos of it I can send them plus other assorted details. Would have loved to own it again, but it’s grown in value 10X since my days, no

  34. I went from a S2 Exige 240 to a cup 250 and have to be honest the cup was a little disappointing in comparison with the S2. Cup a great car but never put a smile on my face like S2 could especially when you it the 8500 rev limiter getting there use to make the hairs stand up on the back of my neck and the supercharge wine was unbelievable, the supercharger is nearly impossible to hear on the Cup and lacks the frantic nature of the 2ZZ engine from the S2. Cups are much better built and and quality of materials much better. It’s a hard choice between the two but have to say if it was my money I

  36. In my opinion and I will base this off my rebuild. I dont have full trust in it yet. I have 1500 miles since rebuild and I have gone thru several oil changes. Now i'm mobil One 15-w50, when I pull my dip stick I can see something troubling on the tip, but everytime I have changed my oil it has been transparant. Although my 100 micron oil filter does continue to trap particles. I'm hoping it will end soon . They only place I may have screwed up during rebuild was the intermediate shaft in-board roller bearing, I saw someone here put on a lot of grease before install which I would never

  37. Having a daily with 847nM (625ish fout pound of torque) I can honestly say I've never felt disappointed with the Cup 250. It feels lively over the whole rev-band so I can assure you, lack of torque won't be an issue! I actually love driving mine, even in city traffic. My modified C63 is only fun at high speeds, hard acceleration or when making ridiculous noise while I enjoy the Elise even at slow speeds due to the steering response. I've driven a lot of high-end sportscars and supercars and for me personally Lotus really was an eye-opener. Less really is more! Have you considered test

  38. I put my name down here in Geelong as well and nothing ever came through. The restrictions and lockdowns have worked. My son and daughter, working as nurses, have also said that they are not seeing many cases, but they know as soon as restrictions ease, that will change. The relaxations began here and Victoria has now had to close two schools. 80 new cases in one of them. This up and down of infections will continue to occur until a working vaccine is available. If anyone tells you any different, I fear that they speak with forked tongue.

  42. Well you’ve got to hand it to Millennial Couple. They’re ahead of the game. They had been away for a couple of days and returned yesterday with a boot full of suitcases and one of their 60-something Dads in toe. He now seems to be living with them! All I can suggest is that they needed a light bulb changing, so they felt it necessary to ignore the lockdown rules yet again. Unbelievable.

Part of the plan was to do 430 Cup louvres, which I sourced from @Seriouslylotus (he sells them on his site). They arrived and would work perfectly, but I had an idea and got talking to a mate who does carbon work. So I sent them to him... He made a mould... Then with proper prepreg carbon (not crappy skinned!) he made these This is how it looked straight out of the mould without any work, quite impressive. I decided I wanted the weave to

  46. The Evora has barely gone beyond 50% depreciation in 10+ years, I'd say that's fairly safe money. I'd expect to put mine up for sale for what I paid for it 2.5 years ago and even if I lost a couple of K, that's ridiculously cheap thrills.
