  1. Hi @Lotusfab, were you at Denbies in Dorking the other day? My wife and daughter were walking the dog and told me about a red/gold Lotus they had seen. It had Lotus written in big white letters across the back otherwise they wouldn't have known what it was apparently. That omission is quite disappointing since I've owned Esprits of one shape or another ever since I met my wife!

Will get some decent pics up soon but in the meantime here’s a few I took at the dealers and grabbing some fuel on The way home. ride feels very different and much more compliant than my 380 but only done 40 miles so will assess after a bit more driving Very happy.

  6. Agree. It's a nice bit of insurance and nest egg! Also any profit is tax free. I wouldn't break it down. You are more likely to use it or sell it if it's not been stripped.

  7. Not so much on the interior. Kept the theme of yellow green and black. I did get a quote for full alcantara dash but they wanted £2000 and a disclaimer signing to say if it shrunk In the sun it wouldn’t be covered. Not a chance I’m paying that. 1 thing I did insist on After viewing a number of 430s was that I really disliked the unfinished look that the harness bar gave with the bulkhead missing and the seatbelt real cover also missing so I opted for a aftermarket bar which Imo looks tonnes better and finishes the car interior. At the end of the day I’m not chasing milliseconds on track

  10. Defo not standard. Id have to check my paperwork as it was 6 months ago but I’m pretty sure it was no cost. Including all options I think I got it up to Circa £116000 but that includes the 4x 380 sport/cup front canards which Haven’t been fitted yet. the colour was circa £2500 and the carbon barge boards are circa £3000, add in rear boards, air con carpets, radio, sound proofing etc etc and it soon starts creeping up I’m having full ppf fitted to the front end on Tuesday so will fit the front canards after that’s gone on. I think the 430 cup will be viewed as an icon of

  13. Well, after what seems a lifetime my new Elise finally arrived: Down side is that I have 10 days straight of work and only had time to take a few phone pictures, AIM dash is being fitted at the 1k service and there are few small cosmetic changes I’ll be doing, very very pleased with it, if you want a new Lotus speak to Jamie at B&C a rare find in the world of car salesmen Will post lots more pics as soon as I have some.

  14. I hope not to get enmeshed in further arguing my following observations. I really wish to state my opinion and be moving on so I am not addressing the following to anyone in particular, rather to a more general audience. I hope!!! I think many of you are not keeping up with what is going on in the USA or are relying on questionable sources for your data. I also think many who have commented are either unaware of how oppressive the situation is for people of color in this country or don't really care. It's easy to disparage the "protestors" in sum but doing so suggests ignorance of

  17. Hi all, I have a complete engine that I acquired about 15 years ago. It’s sat on a stand in my garage. I’ve no idea if it runs. I did a compression test with a cheap gauge I borrowed. The compressions were low and varied a bit 80-100. On adding some oil to the bores 150psi++. (The gauge is not to be trusted the owner is convinced it under reads 20% odd). So I’m assuming the engine is complete internally and works with the cylinders sealing somewhat with the addition of oil What should I do with it? I could just leave it, I may never need it. I could rebuild it as a proje

  18. Hello there... Looked for sometimes now for a Lotus Esprit, I finally found a very nice 1987 Esprit Turbo HCI, a two familly car, with only 33.000 miles on the clock, never been driven in the winther.

  19. 17” is a good option, but spoils the shape and look of the beefy rubber 15” wheels. But do offer a variety of good street performance tires However, I much prefer the original 15” BBS. To me, the tires on the Green Esprit looks like these Toyo https://www.daekonline.dk/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?dsco=123&Cookie=aff_rd_dk_awin&details=Ordern&typ=R-155854&ranzahl=4&nichtweiter=1&Breite=235

  22. Congratulations. Welcome to the 430 club. I saw a new YouTube video last night which reviews the 430 and ownership brilliantly, different from JayEm’s old one in the yellow one at B&C a few years back. A closing parade of Cups sounds good when the doors finally shut on production, Edinburgh is an excellent location for such an event

  23. Yea. Ben And Tom are good guys although Ben has moved on now. Been replaced by mark who is a straight talker and gets things done. Defo recommend them and they did me a good deal including the px of my 380 sport. Some one gonna get a really good car there it’s just had a brand new clutch and flywheel at circa £3-£4K !!! happy to meet anytime. I’m at oulton park next Saturday! The Car is booked in for The running in service next Friday. I’m gonna be busy over the next few days getting the running in mileage sorted!!! thankfully the weather looks ok over the next few days!

  26. Yes. Ive done it. They just drop into the same holes. Lotus has even left the wiring in for the heating elements. I got a quote of around 700 to update the dash and wire up fully, but never bothered as I don't drive the car in the winter. 1 hour job. Mine You do however sit higher up which is a shame, and you're not as 'connected' to the car. But they are way more comfortable for me.

  29. Hi Tom, Not really a common fault as such, IMO, but after 25+ years in use, many bushes are showing a bit of distress. It's a fairly easy change and will be affecting your suspension/steering geometry slightly. A bush can pass if it's slightly cracked or perished but if it has lost it's functionality it's a certain fail if it's spotted. I think they're about £20 each for PU ones. They're always just around the corner Andy.

  32. Due to pressure from everyone to see skis on this car I am getting on with it. I have finally sorted the rear ski bindings. The fronts cant go on until the racks are fitted so I know the clearance. Metal is ordered for the racks so fabrication starting Monday. By end of July it should have skis! Just in time for summer and to confuse all the young people who havn’t got a clue who Roger Moore is or what the car is!

  35. I think your forum handle wonderfully and accurately expresses what seems to be your world view. Well done. There's no point dragging this out further, we'll just have to disagree about most everything but mutual admiration for Lotus. We can perhaps return to happier discussion in Evoraville. See you there.

  36. Head off to the thrift store and get the biggest counter top toaster oven you can find for your shop. Great for bearings, powder coating, welding pre-heat, curing paint and marital harmony.

  37. Bugger! Back to steps taken so far. Clutch was replaced with pressure plate and centre plate? Both slave and master now replaced or seals replaced? Air bled out with a pressure bleeder? Are there still air bubbles, after bleeding, leaving for 30 mins and bleeding again? if no bubbles you now need an assistant. One pushes the cluth pedal, the other looks for movement in the pipes flexing and for movement of the operating arm coming out of the slave. After that I'm lost. The pressure plate has to see enough movement to allow the centre plat

  41. I also have a huge issue with "taking the knee". Historically you "took the knee" to show your fealty to a superior, a ruler. So essentially, you were acknowledging that you were subservient to a "better" or "higher" being. Maybe we should have a discussion about irony? The decade that is the 2020's will be remembered in history as the decade when history in the UK was "whitewashed", it will not be a proud moment in history just like our involvement in the slave trade was not a proud moment in history. I struggle with the anger. How many of these "offended" people in the UK are actu
