"Triple" production. FFS. I am assuming the journalist who developed that headline is still in school and that school is somewhat worse than the comprehensive I attended. Journalists today, whose job is "words" after all, they can't even get the very simple basics right. Anyway, I look forward to seeing the trebling of production and to welcoming many new Lotus owners to this forum over the coming years.3 points

There was a chap on LBC this morning who runs PocDoc - 10 min test, costs a tenner and shows if you've had it after 5 days previous rather than the current 8. https://www.mobihealthnews.com/news/emea/pocdoc-launches-covid-19-workplace-testing-help-get-britain-back-work3 points

I may have mentioned before that Road and Track Magazine seem to like the Evora. They seem to have excelled themselves in this latest article.2 points

Hello all. Having quite often seen Essex 006 LHD back when she was in Austria with her previous owner I can 100% confirm that the chassis is as the car left the factory and as pictured in @Sparky ´s picture above and only touched up in a few minor places. As seen on a couple of other very early Turbos as well it seems that these early galvanised chassis were not painted black but sprayed with the same "bitumastic compound" that was also used on the non-galvanised S1 /S2 Esprit and Elite/Eclat chassis. Unfortunately I don´t know if that coating was also used on the S2.2 car range in between but may well have been. However, I´m aware that´s just another theory and as with all things "old Lotus" one can never be sure. Maybe MJK could know exactly? Georg @Lex Templar2 points

Yes it was my car that I had brought back to life. It's now Dan's car but I kept the registration number. Pictures were taken by me!2 points

Looks absolutely fantastic. But if they build 3 times the cars - they need to sell them. I’m really looking forward to seeing the building of brand awareness next 👍2 points

This post was approved by @Bibs before anyone asks 😁 Good evening everyone, I've recently started a reverse engineering business focused around faithful reproduction of legacy autoparts, called Novorota. With the help of some incredibly kind people on this forum we've managed to get our first products into production, this is an incredible community! We would like to offer you our billet machined rear hub carriers for S1/S2/S2.2 and S4/V8 models. The hubs will be made out of Aluminum 6061-T6. We took incredibly detailed 3D scans of C082D4142K and F079D4001F parts and recreated them in CAD, and then performed a number of stress/fatigue studies to then further improve on the design. The resulting improvements make the machined parts 3-4 times stronger when compared to their original cast counterparts. The design has been 3D printed and tested to ensure proper fitment, as will the final metal prototype seen in the attached pictures. To anyone interested here's our pricing list, final price depends on interest. The more pairs we can make the better our price. All prices are VAT INCLUDED [S1/S2/S2.2 Rear Hub Carriers] 1 pair - £1200 (£600 each) 5 pairs - £1100 (£550 each) 15 pairs - £1000 (£500 each) If there happens to be more interest an even lower final price will be set [S4/V8 Rear Hub Carriers] 1 pair - £1700 (£850 each) 5 pairs - £1600 (£800 each) 10 pairs - £1500 (£750 each) Again, if there's more interest a lower final price will be set If demand lands anywhere in between the given prices, a matching price will be set. For those who miss out on this initial launch run both parts will be available to buy at our online store at: £1300 (£650 each) for S1/S2/S2.2 £1900 (£950 each) for S4/V8 I believe there's at least someone here with their own parts shop, if you're interested to carry our hubs in stock please reach out to me directly. Our online store is novorota.com, however, 2 months ago when we started this project I was telling people our website will launch in the coming few days, and from nothing we got these parts made and tested and done all this work, and of all the things the bloody website is still not live 🤣🤣 I will update as soon as we go live with the website, however I won't say it's gonna happen or else it just might won't 😂 Anyone interested in the hubs leave a comment and PM me directly so I can add you to the list. This offer can also be found on High Performance Esprits Facebook page. All the best, Ignas Perminas Director @ Novorota Limited1 point

Lovely write up. Crying shame that the UK press rarely wax so lyrical, or if they do, they temper the positivity by saying that you should still buy a f**king, sorry, cooking Porsche.1 point

And I have to confess it has been sitting out in the rain and wind for 3 weeks with the battery disconnected. Reconnected the battery to move it back in the garage thinking this is never going happen. Started first time took it for a drive to warm through and now back in the garage. left my 2019 Mercedes Vito van for 3 weeks during lockdown and it needed a call out to Merc to come and reset some stuff to get it going. loads of trouble.......... Welcome to the Orange Lotus club. You'll never lose your car in a car park again. Burnt Orange just looks epic. Cingratulations. I didn't buy mine on the colour (it's the last consideration for me), it was just the right car at the right price. Was a bit of a change from my Carbon Grey S, but wouldn't go back to a more mundane colour again. Oh, and I much prefer the Evora without the "SR Look".1 point

Well today I receive an email saying I don’t qualify for the £500 payment for having to self isolate as told by the nhs track and trace when my eldest Daisy tested positive for Covid. Two weeks of self employment working lost - my mate dropped in the shit on a job - and me loosing out financially due to the whole issue. Frankly - they can feck right off if they contact me again. The phone will be chucked in the bin. Yet again us self employed have been fucked over. Those on benefits get paid, those in work get paid - self employed get naff all. Yeah thanks.1 point

in the 62 the lower half was vauxhall, the upper half lotus own head (that head became part of the 907 engine. the lotus 62 engine was called LV220 or LV240 (from Lotus Vauxhall 220/240 bhp) it was not a 907 engine, however it was the testbed for the 907 head.1 point

If the door aligns perfectly and window flutters, I think the "legs" of the window frame have rusted away where they should be bolted to the door beam. That's getting a bigger job (replace frame and re-glaze fixed part of window etc).1 point

Must admit, I tend to view these things in a rather different way: Do you like it? Is it worth the money to you as a chair? If yes and yes, buy it. If there is a "No" in there somewhere then don't. Am definitely interested to see what it's like. Don't post up till you've bought it though - you may find some competition1 point

@dr_jayhartI’ve just checked an early version of the register and it appears an error. Good spot. Dave may know if there is another one in Austalia but I’ll fix it up on the register and delete 11179. It makes more sense that yours is later than 11179. @LOTUSMAN33 so yours is A/C, standard radio from factory. (Given your mirror) and am I right is saying half leather from factory? correct me if I’m wrong..1 point

The window switches on my S3 N/A are identical and don't have bulb holders for illumination either. From the photos neither do yours. As per Henry's post if I were ever after doing this job, rather than running copper to them I'd fit a couple of extra strands of optic fibre from the central light box for the switch illumination behind the dash down to the window switches and make some sort of holders to keep the fibre in place at either end. While I was at it I'd probably fit a much brighter green LED bulb in that light box as well1 point

I couldn't disassemble the segment gear mechanism (as you can see in your vid, it appears to be held together by a giant rivet) so I sprayed copious amounts of brake cleaner into the pivot while working it against the floor of my garage. GRUNT GRUNT 😆 Eventually the action became much easier. 💪 Then I sprayed just a little light oil into the pivot. Too much and I was afraid the oil would attract dirt and bind again. Works a treat, 3 years later.1 point

Geely obviously believes in the brand, big investment Lotus as not seen in decades, the future looks bright. Can not wait to see what comes out of this facility in the next few years.1 point

That’s really good to see, genuine investment in the manufacturing facility with an uplift in available volumes.1 point

Yeah they look the same as mine although one looks as though it's been modified? Mine both look like your top picture. You can buy new ones from SJ. Are you aware that with the early hinges if you have the bonnet open and lift the headlight pods they will hit the back edge of the bonnet and there will be a terrible cracking noise!!1 point

Buddsy, now I've seen the full video again (thanks for the link) I can't really comment on Fuellmich's claims about the way the PCR test was developed. My daughter says that they have a lot of 'false negatives' - i.e they are treating people with COVID symptoms that do not test positive. Similarly, as Fuellmich also says, there are 'false positives.' What we end up with is a test that isn't very reliable. It's a joke to call positive tests 'cases,' because in the early stages of the pandemic, 'cases' were people presenting with symptoms. These simply cannot be compared to the definition being used today, so those charts that show the curve of 'cases' now compared to earlier in the year are almost as misleading as the 'graph of doom' presented by Whitty and Vallance that said we'd have 50,000 cases (i.e. positive tests) per day by mid-October. She tells me that patients do present with symptoms that are unique to COVID - the way serious 'flu patients, for example, present is quite different, so doctors can diagnose it positively. They can now treat it much more effectively so what used to be called the case/fatality ratio is significantly lower. Also, recent statistics show that nationally deaths from respiratory diseases are tracking historically normal levels, with COVID simply replacing many fatalities from 'flu and pneumonia. If you haven't come across them, I'd recommend the 'Planet Normal' podcasts which critically analyse the government's responses to the Pandemic. They make you laugh as well. Cheers, Richard1 point

This is one part of your post that I’m afraid I don’t agree with. Unfortunately I think that we have proved time and time again that there are (significant) elements of society that seem to be completely incapable of independent thought. Or indeed any thought at all and will believe anything and everything that their followers/people they follow put on Twatter.1 point

The difference is that the 360 Stradale and Challenge Cup cars were designed to be able to cope with the additional power. You are flirting with the idea of challenging your stock transmission to see if it breaks!! You should probably read that back to yourself in order to guide your decision.1 point

As a car nut I have been fortunate to own all kinds of performance cars over my 30 years on the road. Growing up in Australia and living there until we moved to the UK in 2012 meant I always owned Australian muscle cars, Evos etc. The most hardcore of the lot was a Giocattolo Group B, based on an Alfa Romeo Sprint it ran a mid mounted 400hp V8 in a body that weighed around 1100kg (which sounds familiar for Exige owners). What a crazy fun car that was! The move to the UK opened up a whole new world of affordable cars that were prohibitive in Oz – M5’s, Porsche, Maserati, imported Japanese cars etc but now that the kids are grown and compromises are no longer needed, it is time for a hardcore fun car. Until very recently I was keen on a 911TT, R8 V10 etc. but as I learned more about these cars and imagined ownership, I started to lose interest. They are complex and expensive to maintain and may prove to be a disappointment after owning nimble Evos for the past 15 years. So that leads to Lotus, a brand I have always had a distant respect for but never looked at closely because while I value small & lightweight, the cars never had the hp to excite me. Then I found out about the existence of the Exige V6 and I knew at that moment where my future lay. So here I am, a welded on future Exige owner. I have done a heap of reading on the forum but there are a couple of questions I couldn’t find answers for: - What is the ground clearance of the front lip? Our driveway has a bit of a hump at the entrance, its ok in our FK8 Type R but if anyone could point me to the measurement for lip clearance and front overhang for the 410 & 30 that would be great - Is the TI exhaust worth £5.5k? Its not worth it for a 10kg saving but does it sound that much different/better? My man maths needs some help My plan is to buy early next year when the economy has settled a bit (hopefully) and its clearer where the market is headed. My ideal car is a 430 Cup but realistically I am probably heading towards a 410 due to cost/availability and clearance issues. The new anniversary edition looks appealing with the included extras. It seems like Lotus has done current 410 owners no favours here basically discounting the 410 by about £6k with these inclusions, and makes the premium on a 430 even harder to swallow. I will watch with interest when the first anniversary cars hit the roads later this year and may even consider buying a new one. For now, I will lurk on the forum and live through others 🙂 Cheers, Simon (mondie)1 point

I don’t think I’ll ever be ready to ‘drive’ a car where I’m not in complete control of the throttle, brakes and steering. I worked for a software company and software is always buggy, it’s just that in most applications it’s merely annoying rather than fatal. Add in faulty sensors and it’s a recipe for disaster. edited to add - If a driverless car kills a third party who is responsible, the car manufacturer or the person behind the wheel?1 point

^^Which i far as i know is a proprietary design and can't cope with over 480nm according to Getrag its supplier. Geely group has developed its own DCT so maybe Lotus will be able to build it up for its own purpose... the other option being to purchase a unit from Borg Wagner or ZF...1 point

Remember this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_UK_petrol_contamination ? Only affected supermarket fuel. Evo did a review several years ago where they couldn't include results for supermarket 95RON because - by the supermarkets' own admissions - they used different refineries and blends so weren't consistent across the country or week to week. They do of course meet the minimum BS standards for 95; minimum being the key point. Agree the majority of UK fuel comes from the same base blends but each fuel company or supermarket creates their own variant when their tanker fills up at the refinery, depending on what additives they include. Tesco green fuel and Shell V-Power are the only fuels blended at specific refineries exclusively for those companies, so should be more consistent batch to batch. Shell say that there is some degradation on the higher RON fuels over time, but worst case it's down 1RON. Not sure what the other firms have said about theirs. As Bibs says, higher RON fuel is more relevant for forced induction engines (higher RON fuel is more knock resistant not more "powerful") and generally needs an adaptive engine management system to take advantage of it. The Hethel folks advised that on the Evora S it can take the ECU a couple of hundred miles to adapt to 98RON fuel after a period running on 95, so if you stick a single tank of V-Power in you may not notice much difference until near the end of the tank.1 point
