  3. Really sorry to be so late to the party - going back to the question on page 2 about the front spolier, here is another pic. Basically it was just masked at the line where the section from the front wing narrows to the point where it flares back out to from the splitter. To me the front end doesn't have much definition without it: And here is the pic I got the idea from all those years ago:

  6. @geartoxThat almost sounds like a challenge! 🙃 @JackMaybe we should start look at planning our 202X trip to the UK. I'm sure our wives won't complain as long as they get to spend as much as we do. 😉

  7. There's nothing at the front of the chassis strong enough to take the stresses of the car being towed. You could mount an eye on a spreader plate to the ARB support frame but I personally wouldn't use one for anything more than a gentle winch onto a recovery truck or trailer. A good recovery guy will have J hooks that can be used on the bottom arms. As Dave said reverse onto a trailer seems best, not least for trailer nose weight too, being a mid engined car.

  12. Around 30 years ago for my S1 I used a common industrial pedestal mount bolted to the existing 2 lower holes in the chassis with a steel base plate and needed spacer to keep the engine at the correct height as it was a little shorter than the original mount and base plate. Alloy body, light, cheap and all very in keeping with what Lotus would have / should have done ! The original arms from the engine needed a small cut out to enable the bolt to be fitted with the engine and mount in situ. The engine did not need to be removed just supported while i took out the arms one at a time to drill the hole for the new central mounting bolt and make the small cut out in them. The ones I got came in two stiffnesses and I got the ones rated for 6mm deflection at 90 kg. I tried the stiffer ones rated at 180 kg for 6mm to see if this made a significant handling difference but these stiffer mounts transmitted to much vibration to the body and any handling improvement was to small to notice in a road car. They have lasted perfectly since installed all those years ago. This type of pedestal mount is common to many manufacturers should be able to be obtained cheaply from any industrial anti vibration mount supplier. cheers Rohan

  14. The William Walker has contacted me to let me know that we cannot dine there on the date agreed (which we knew!) but they did offer that we could go to the Bishop on the Bridge and use their outside dining space. Even though they assured me that it was heated, I thought that was a bit optimistic for mid-December, so I have told them to hold onto the booking until we can arrange a date when we can all sit inside again. You never know, we might be able to have more than 6 at the dinner!

  18. Thanks Steve your right of course. I am trying to get the basics as per the book before I put the car on a rolling road. I have just put the distributor back on and run the engine. I can’t explain why the idle setting is 10 degrees BTDC and at 2000 rpm it still shows 25 degrees with the timing light on zero adjustment. it should be 18+/- 2 degrees with an idle setting of 10. The advance curve on the distributor is correct. All I can think is the rpm gauge on the dash is misreading. I have an electronic tacho coming tomorrow to see is the car gauge is correct. Any other ideas?

  19. Fabian, In regard to tuning the carbs and spark curve do be mindful of the likelihood that fuel has evolved substantially since the time our cars were engineered. Pinpoint adherence to either original jetting or timing is not necessarily the correct answer. Well proven tuners in the UK capable of setting up what your engine actually wants are identified in these forums from time to time. Cheers

  20. @Bibs Thanks for the contact info. Still by the time I drive 4 - 6 track days, I have paid for transportation for my car. What I do like is that they will provide transportation and track support. @JackLooking at this for down the road when you kick the bucket and I do not have access to Spring Mountain! 😜

  21. @C8RKHI would have to agree with you. If Max does NOT win this weekend where the Red Bull race pace is better than the Merc, what is going to be his excuse? He has proven that he can beat Bottas but if Russell beats him, is he still going to say it is the car? Many people have pointed out that Russell is always out performing his car.

  23. I see Max is "whinging" already and getting in some early excuses re the "blind" corners being too dangerous. Bloody pussy, especially after his comments after Grosjean's crash about sacking drivers who would not get back in the car. I really am starting to dislike him immensely.

  25. Hello Rohan, Your advice is much appreciated in this and I'm pleased you've checked in once again with that update on your results. It's remarkable that such a simple and straightforward alternative wasn't pursued by others, particularly in light of the price demanded by vendors for the Turbo mount conversion. Best regards

  31. So while this post is out there here's an update on my little business I started. It's going so well I will have to do some accounts next year. Because I buy right I can sell right and many of my pieces, vintage Jewellery etc, is very well priced against buying something from a shop or retail! If you don't see it please ask as I do have several thousands of pieces from Silver cutlery to Silver salts, dishes etc. Then lots of mainly silver, jewellery. Please feel free to let me know if you fancy anything as a stocking filler or a gift. I am happy to withdraw from sale as long as it hasn't got a bid. I will also be putting lots more on this weekend! https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/kimbers34/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=
