  2. Club Team Lotus open day and evening dinner at the Trust House hotel Norwich 1982. The Esprit outside is the one recently restored by Lotus as it was Chapman’s last company car. The éclat parked under the entrance was driven by Andrew Ferguson. The Team Lotus photos include the recently arrived Renault engines and the first type 93T in the body shop. These photos were taken about 3 weeks before ACBC died. I remember walking past him when he was talking to someone, and my wife said to hang around to get his autograph, but I said I’d wait until next year…. I have scanned and redu

  6. Another piece of the jigsaw arrived today so I can now cross that off the list. I swapped this for a louvred panel which came with the car and was no use to me as I'm going to put it back to S1 spec with glass in the tailgate. I'm told the louvred panels are incredibly difficult to find so I was happy to swap one rare item for another, fair exchange is no robbery... This is for the spare wheel as I didn't fancy driving around without a spare. The wheels are all date stamped and this is actually a 78 wheel whereas it would have had a 76 or 77 originally but these are so difficult to

  8. I get this when I turn up at cycling events and pull a bike out of the back seats. And when I pack up at the end, word has spread and there’s usually a bigger crowd watching who don’t believe I’ll get it back in again!

  10. Andy I have and it now has its own folder in my office, that is not even half of it, the most disgraceful service I have ever come across. Jill from The Sunday Times is brilliant so we are going after them in a pincer movement. I have the FCA involved as well. The thing is I love stuff like this I spent 7 Months going after HMRC after they over charged me £1.37 on my VAT bill. I won 😀

  11. Can I suggest you all go and have look at your elderly parents accounts. My 91 year old MIL who is registered disabled, blind, deaf and immobile with carers coming in 4 times a day (nightmare) Her boiler died on Monday with British Gas HomeCare insurance which she has had for over 25 years this year the premium was £824. So phoned them up and got told I need to phone the “local Hero’s” yes me not them. So call them up and get told you can’t book a visit over the phone but only on their website. She doesn’t have the internet (like most) so forgot my phone in the panic to get over there

One day soon, hopefully this will all be unboxed and the excess, stored in the loft. Then it will be time to cover the walls in Lotus regalia😎

  24. All sounds interesting. We might be able to add some Value. ValetPRO are always looking for barn finds or project cars that just need a good detail to revive them. We could do a car for you no charge, which should add Value. For us its about being able to create video content for YouTube and demonstrate our products. If your interested please let me know.

  26. So after following the GameStop debacle, and thus becoming more interested in stock, thought I'd dip my toe in to the markets. Subscribed to Motley Fool and invested in some of their recommendations, all US stocks. Also did my own research and invested in some UK stocks. US stocks have soared, UK stocks in the doldrums. Yeh, yeh, investments should be considered a 3-5 year commitment but lessons I've learnt so far: I don't know diddly squat about investments, so I listen to those who do Factor in trade charges. If you're just investing in the low £1000s, they will take a ch

  27. As mentioned I'll be moving to the Aim dash. One of the downsides is its an ugly binnacle, I have the earlier version of the binnacle so its doubly ugly. As all the interior was being retrimmed it would be covered so not an issue, but I had these buttons to deal with: With the trimming I had three options: Cover them and they exist under the material - ugly, and just a rubbish solution Trim around them - would need to expand holes Move them Option 1 was out, I thought option 2 most likely but option 3 as a backup as it was more work First up remove th

  28. To be fair though, the countries that have gone 'over the top' are the ones who have managed to control cases and get some freedom back. The ones who try to track and trace individuals without anywidespread response are the ones who end up missing lots of cases and it runs rampant. I can see Australia's point. Once it is widespread there is an argument of economic damage vs health damage but if they can keep cases near 0 then they have the best of both worlds with just occasional citywide lockdowns

  29. A couple of interesting extreme views on lockdown. Australia had one coronavirus virus case in Perth last month and locked down the city for 5 days. It was a security guard in a quarantine hotel, so not exactly surprising. They have now had a similar situation at a quarantine hotel in Melbourne leading to another 5 day lockdown there. Again the fact that the outbreak occurred in a quarantine hotel is not exactly surprising. The UK recorded 13,500 new cases yesterday: well down from the peak of a month ago, but still significantly higher than in Australia and yet many UK politicians a

  32. So Covid has cocked thing up a fair bit for LotusRescue, as it has done so many other business. It hs delayed work on a clients S4 and meant hat all my own cars are about 1 year behind what I had planned for them. Over last couple of weeks I have been stopped twice going to my workshop and told that I wasn't a full time business, I should not be traveling. So, got round that by having some business cards printed, which I received the other day, so now if I get stopped I will just give them a business card. I fully understand and endorse the rules. But my workshop is about 1.5 miles from the ne

  33. TBF the Evora was meant to be an Elise plus 2 - a basic sports car. Along the way it morphed into something with a bit of comfort with air con and a soft interior for launch and then eventually almost an Esprit replacement with the latest models. I bought the plus 2 initially because I thought I could take my friends to a pub lunch. When I realised I don't have any friends I swapped it for a plus 0. 🥺

  35. Wheels are done... took three months in total! Thanks to this forum I managed to get the black hat washers too! Not cheap but a great result! These were done by Voodoo wheels - great guys and experts in 3pc wheels. They genuinely moved mountains to figure out the best way to redo the wheels including finding a new supplier to properly machine (not diamond cut) the face of the centres, like originals are. Cost was around £1000 - not bad at all considering the work involved.

  40. Picture #1 is how far the bumper was "loose" Picture #2 is taken from inside headlamp pod after removing large grommet from the inside (this is the top grommet of two per side) Picture #3 is the threaded bar that screws into the bumper plate utilising a locking nut to hold (?) in place. The other end of the threaded bar is another nut with a large washer to prevent it from going through the hole. I just "wound" the bar into the bumper further, relocked the fore-nut and tightened the aft-nut from the pod end. All tight and bumper secure. I'm a little surprised that th

  47. Again, I'm a long way off of needing one of these but whilst I saw it I thought I might as well buy it. I've gone for a red version of this stainless steel braided hose so that people can keep telling me I need to change it So that's a bit more of the kid's inheritance I've wasted. I have a shopping list which I keep adding to that at some point I will place with SJ Sportscars. It's currently at about £8,000 but as the engine is a bit of an unknown at this point I will probably leave any engine bits off the list for now.
