  1. No I didn’t watch the interview, but saw plenty of clips. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, but this is how I see it. C-List divorcee in a run-of-the-mill US TV show somehow gets a blind date with most eligible bachelor Prince Harry. Some time later, the couple get engaged and Meghan becomes famous around the world. They then enjoy a lavish Royal Wedding, broadcast live across the globe. The wedding is attended by only one member of her family, but several seemingly new “close” friends such as Oprah Winfrey and Serena Williams. They then have a baby, but complain about Press intrusion and step back from Royal duties. They announce a move to Canada to experience a quieter, more private life. Within months they make a second move, but this time to Los Angeles, the home of Hollywood and its 24 hour celebrity news machine, where nothing is kept private. The couple announce a new pregnancy and arrange a blockbuster big Bucks interview with Oprah, which is beamed around the world. Meghan plays both the mental health and the race cards about her baby’s skin colour, but cleverly doesn’t say who is alleged to have made this comment, presumably to protect herself from litigation. The next day all of her new friends are falling over themselves to support the Unhappy Couple. Serena Williams chips in, even Hillary Clinton mounts her high horse for some air time. I think that’s it.

Here you are. https://media.lotuscars.com/en/blog/the-name-game-the-story-behind-the-signatures-printed-on-the-elise-and-exige.html Started in 2016 so potentially after some cars early 2016.

  6. I've not (and won't) watch it either and based upon nothing more than what I've read in the media, can't help but agree with all the points made here thus far. Many of her 'claims' made during the interview have been fact checked and found to be wanting in the truth department, so just how much of what she says can be believed? I may be going out on a limb here but any question pondering, before it was born, about how dark her child would be doesn't actually seem too unreasonable to me. Let's face it, most of us who could be bothered, probably wondered the exact same thing. When I first heard that, my immediate thought was Phil, gotta be Phil who said that but it seems they were quick to deny that, despite his previous form in that direction. To me though, any such question comes under a similar category of ..............will he have his fathers or mothers nose/ears/eyes/height/hair colouring/temperament/skin tone etc etc and has probably been wondered about the first child of any new parent. Agree totally with C8RKH that they should just be thanked for previous service, wish them all the best and wave goodbye - forever, if that's what they want. It's all just a look at poor little me thing of a spoilt child and, as such, should be ignored.

  7. Harry used to be loved by the great British public. now he is just a whining, entitled, self obsessed and pathetic "celebrity" I reckon the Palace should just ignore the interview, and not get involved. Once you reply, you are forced into further discussions and conversations.

  8. I find it all rather sad to be honest. I do believe that Meghan is playing several "joker cards" to get the sympathy vote and this is pure Hollywood / Celebrity positioning. If I was the head of the family, I would just issue something to say that we wish Meghan and Harry a very happy and successful life. Thank Harry for his service. Explain that a life of "service" is not for everyone and not compatible with outside celebrity interests. Then just close the door and not look back. And ghost the calls.

  10. I’ve only seen a few short clips but Markle is bound to be nominated in the BAFTAS for “best performance by a female actor” category. I’m no royalist but they said that they respect the Queen. Words mean nothing, their action in giving this interview shows total disrespect for and undermines everything that the Queen stands for. A couple who say they want a quiet private life but are forever attention seeking and allowed Winfrey to talk them into playing the race card. They know full well the protocol that defines why their son could not be given a title but she tried to insinuate that it was because of his possible colour. Total lies being told in the interview. I see that Piers Morgan’s remarks that he didn’t believe a word of it has cost him his job on GMB. I totally loathe Piers Morgan but this time I have to agree with him 100%

  11. I'll have to double check I have the Delta 800 ECU in my car and I thought the OBD reader was operational? No idea as there haven't been any faults so I haven't had the opportunity to check. But also it's possible the aftermarket ECU could be easier to debug as it uses standard serial port which many garages may be able to interface with and the software is freeware. As apposed to the Lotus specific diagnostic software which as far as I know costs quite a lot of money so unlikely to find a garage with this thats not a Lotus main dealer or specialist.

  12. 2016 Evora 400 don't have the plaque. It was introduced later, perhaps on 410s but others will know. It is in my view a tad naff, as one man did not build said car. I don't mind the 'handbuilt' aspect but personally I would use Mr Chapman's signature on all Lotus if we are going that route of plaques. Justin

  13. Tick over has been tamed. Big thanks to sailorbob for giving me an afternoon of his valuable time to nail down the offending issue. Turns out it ‘may’ have been self inflicted while trying to chase down other niggles. Either way tickover is now playing ball again so a steady list of jobs can commence with the target to be a return to the road for the full April unwind. Just a quick spin round the block brought a huge smile to my face 👍

  15. What the news is also forgetting is that this is a Guy who is saying the UK is Racist, from a country that has atrocious racist issues AND just a few years ago dressed as a Nazi and called 2 soldiers horrendous names because of their skin colour! He has absolutely no right to criticise the country he has abandoned.

  16. I know the type well, having once had a daughter in law with very similar traits. Fortunately our son came to his senses before any children happened along, so was able to extricate himself without lasting damage to us or his old friends. If she wants to talk about ‘toxic environments’, the one created by those with this disorder is far worse, in my view.
    2 points
  17. Completely agree with Spinney above. All parents comment on what part of each of them will show in the baby, what colour hair, what colour eyes. If the two of you are different skin colours, you'd obviously talk about that too. It's natural, and not racist. Because there's nothing pejorative about it. As for Meghan, she's classic NPD (narcissistic personality disorder) - she's isolated Harry from his family, friends and everyone else close to him and now made everything about her. Its textbook. She couldn't handle being part of the royal family where she was less important/special than the others (imagine Trump if you want an example of how this behaviour manifests) so she had to break away and then create an about turn so that she could be the important one again. Harry will be in a living hell in that marriage. Don't ask me how I know.

  18. Not watched it or clips, don't intend to. Couldn't give a fig. So, they say it was a toxic situation and moved half way around the world to remove themselves from it. I understand that, fine, no problem an dno problem with any commentary given or not given at the time. But whatever the truth of it there are now only 2 people (or probably actually 1) perpetuating it. STFU, stay out of the media and move on with your lovely new lives free of whatever it was you wanted to escape from. Beginning to believe her dad, chip off.

  20. I find it hard to believe the swindon engined motor is still unsold for so long. I would have snapped it it up if I hadn't already sunk a load of cash modifying my car and also formed an attachment to the car. My car gets serviced my ES Motorsport and every time I'm over I have to tell my self don't ask for a test drive!

  21. I think you make a good point @AK70 and maybe that is why Lotus decided not to do a final edition Evora in that they wanted to create a "demand" for the new 131. Makes sense to me and should build up some anticipation and potential demand ahead of the launch. Also, it seems that the GT in the US seems to be going down well. I notice that Naples just got a bunch of new stock in (some amazing colours too!).

  24. While I wait for the ECM situation to get sorted out I'm doing some of the little odd-jobs on the car. First up was to clean and straighten the rear wheel heat shield and replace the shock absorber heatshield which was crumbling away. New alongside what's left of the old shock top heat shield. The new one required a little trimming to get it to fit. All back in place after a little panel beating to straighten out the main heat shield. I also fitted the tinted indicator lenses that my wife kindly bought me for my birthday Then after nipping up a few weeping brake unions and re-bleeding the brakes I fit the front wheels with their nice grippy new rubber. My sparkly calipers show up quite nicely behind the Futuras Shame the state of the rims let it down 🤦‍♂️ Almost ready to land back on the deck again...

  26. Thanks, yes ... it's still an occassion to drive the car! The suspension is still mind blowing, as is the sound. ☺️ The guys at my local detailing company were surprised when they started her up to move around at their company and heard the rev-up. They thought Lotus only has 2liter engines and were a bit shocked to hear it is a 3.5 + compressor. 😆

  27. Fitting the liners , People have different ways of fitting liners, but this is the method I have used for years without issue . Once all the liners have the nip heights set / adjusted to required spec and are in correct orientation dry, mark them up so they can be removed and placed back in exactly the same position when sealant applied.. I do this by simply applying masking tape up the center line of the decks.. see Pics's Next jobs is to remove all liners and prep all parts ready for next stage, this is done so you are not looking for any part in the middle of a procedure ... Wipe all mating surfaces on liners and block with a spirit wipe to remove any oils etc. Prior to fitting liners it is time to refit all the block/head studs and locating dowels .. important to note these are torqued in with oiled threads , i also apply a small amount of blue thread lock. When all fitted prep area where liner # 1 is installed by first wiping with tack cloth , then smear the surface with your chosen sealant. Then prep the # 1 liner with tack cloth and apply sealant to the contact area. Carefully slide the liner into place . When fully down give slight twisting action side to side to ensure fully bedded . You will find this will be quite stiff to do compared to when dry.. Whilst doing this ,using a long straight edge align the datum marks on the decks to ensure fully straight in position .. Failure to do this now may cause alignment issues with the flats on the liners not being square to each other or even touching on the points. By the time you have prepped and fitted liner # 2 it will be awkward to re orientate # 1 , as the sealant will have already grabbed .. Repeat the same procedure on all 4 liners . You should get a nice bead of sealant at the base and all around the liner if fitted correct. Next job is to remove the masking tape markers and fit an old compressed but very clean head gasket, followed by the cylinder head. Torque the head down to 40 ft lbs in the recognised sequence, ( remembering to oil the threads) . This will compress the liners into their final position. Leave like this for circa 12 to 24 hours .. Before leave to fully cure, invert the engine . You will see another bead of sealant on the base of the liner. Remove this with a cloth and spirit wipe . Because the sealants used here are mostly anaerobic they will not fully cure in that environment. To prevent the sealant polluting the oil it is removed from that area, it is not an issue in the water jacket where it will dissolve and disperse . This conclude the fitting of the liners. Next job will be to match the pistons to the bores and gap the rings ..

  28. I’ve posted these elsewhere, but for us classic lotus owners, decided to post here too. Had my engine to JS Motorsport for some work I wanted doing, prior to me taking the car on a Swiss Alps tour next year. There wasn’t really anything wrong with the engine apart from a slightly noise cam follower, but I decided while it was being opened up to do everything. Head although ported previously, was finished off by JS. Fitted Forged rods and pistons, all bolts are now ARP, valves and guides also done, along basically with everything else. Used JS “special” cam followers too. Full engine balance, flywheel skim etc etc. Engine then run in on the dyno and a power run performed. Have to say I have been exceptionally impressed by JS, very very knowledgable and more than that, very good to chew the fat with, spot on in fact 👍 So here are some pictures along with two dyno runs, taken 10 years apart. I am exceptionally pleased. One thing I did do after speaking with JS about this was to fit an updated oil pump, primarily due to my tour next years and lots off continuous motorway driving, plus all the ups and downs of the mountain passes. I hope you enjoy...

  30. Is that £400bn spent on literally anything COVID related eg heath services, track and trace, furlough etc etc ... ?? As per @andydclements comments, I'm not sure you are looking at the correct statistic. If a nation does well at reducing deaths then it's going to increase the cost per death as there are less deaths for amount of money spent. I'm not saying the UK has done well just that a high cost per number of deaths could be considered a good thing. But there is the deeper question that is raised; How much is it really worth spending to keep people alive is it all worth it? I literally don't have a clue how I would start rationalising where I think the bar should be set. I think the government and other agencies have had a reasonable attempt at keeping the data as accurate as they can. It isn't lies, its just how you've chosen to analyse and interpret the data. Thats the trick with statistics, its easy to calculate random stats based on the data and come to a conclusion but it takes knowledge and skill to understand what the correct statistics to calculate are and what conclusions they are really saying. You've assumed it's a zero sum equation when it might not be. Have you factored in any trends in the number of deaths year on year eg they may be falling 10% each year, have you factored in people in general are not out and about and doing stuff they normally would and dramatically reducing probability of the deaths that would normally occur etc etc... So it's quite possible for there to be an extra 100K deaths accurately and truthfully reported due to COVID but only 77K extra deaths compared to the previous year.

  32. @kimbers what mods have you done! Yours is +1 bhp more than mine ☹️ I'll have to chat to Dave to see if he can find an extra HP for my car. For anyone concerned about a modified car from ES Motorsport, for sure there is always increased risk by modifying it but also in my opinion I think they look to build a reliable car too. They dissuaded me from doing certain mods to my car as they would give little power benefit for a lot of risk.

  33. Quick sketch on the vital points: cooling system must be supplied with chemically sound coolant for corrosion control; thermostat or some more complex method mandatory in ensuring temperatures approach design targets; the Lotus water pump is of conventional impeller design, altogether typical. These are not delicate engines, rather Lotus did a reasonable job of engineering robustness overall through the course of initial development. Therefore if the fundamentals are properly seen to in build and operation of the car, one may be confident of satisfactory reliability and durability. Cheers

  34. I just wanted to sat thanks to the various posters on this issue. I had the traction control light come on on my Evora 400 whilst out on Saturday and it go into limp mode. LIke other owners, I couldn't operate the sport or race modes or the traction control. It seem to reset after a quick restart of the car but the problem came back shortly afterwards, this time with the MIL light and the spanner symbol as well. After reading this forum I bought a replacement brake pedal switch from Elise Parts (£28, including fast shipping) and fitted it today. I used my OBD device to reset the codes (which referred to some malfunction of the throttle actuator control) and boom, problem solved. I've just been for a 30 mile drive with no issues. Before I replaced it I could barely drive 5 minutes without a fault appearing. Fingers crossed that's the problem solved. It's a simple job to replace it. A couple of points I noted - you have to make sure the grey plunger is set to 5 clicks (push it all the way in and carefully click it out 5 clicks) and secondly I noticed how much tighter the new switch fitted into the slot than the one I removed (it was easy to remove the old one but quite hard to turn the new one the 90 degrees to lock it into place). I reckon that with time and use it had become slightly loose in the slot and that had caused it to become erratic. Special thanks to 2011 Chrome Orange for the pics. They really helped. It's a GM part and has three numbers 09132299 / 09175172 / 09/175185

  35. So its the CAI. I checked the above and all values looked ok, I reset the ECU by pulling the power and and the car has been ok since. The CAI has been on the car for 6 months so I'll have to see if the 'bad values' return or not in the future Thanks all for the help!

  36. With mine (Evora S) it is also the mud flaps just after the front wheels that have ocasionally made some contact on sharply inclined garage ramps taken with some degree of turning angle. (Says the guy who needs to put two wood logs each time he wants to take the care out of the garage, much to his neighbours' amusement)

  39. Amen to that. Attention grabbing in the worst degree and the news are lapping it up. Private life my ass, they just want more exposure and I'm ashamed that Harry (who I still have a modicum of respect for due to his service) is going along with it. I'm not a royalist but it's a very poor way to treat his family after all the privilege his status has brought him. Cut off? Only £40m in the bank and offended the tax payer isn't funding his security abroad? Meh. It's obvs very sad what happened with his much loved Mum but it seems Megan is the catalyst in all of this.

Funny enough trucking it from the seller’s garage to the Port of Felixstowe seems to be the hardest logistical hurdle. 45. (one side filling is a nice option btw,) I am going with an in-tank full pump, the return fuel will be dumped into that same tank so it is nice when fuel can flow easy between the two tanks if it can not, 1 tank will have all the returning fuel from the pump and might overflow as the pump will flow more than that silly 8mm hose can transport to the other tank. I'll have the fuel pump in the rhs tank, the tbfi is on the rhs as well so I'll have very short fuel lines, I don't like the current set up with fuel hose going everywher well, I am more happy with 2mm wall thickness but knowing lotus I'll assume it was just 1mm LOL

  49. Strategically it would make much more sense for Lotus to use Volvo-Polestar engines. Cross-development (Lotus Engineering do lots of work for engine manufacturers), no negotiating a deal and royalties with another manufacturer, and a simpler path for a hybrid/EV option during the model lifecycle.
