  1. I know I started a recent thread talking about Evora 410s ... well it turns out I really wanted another Elise. Who knew. So, Cup 250 FE is now locked. Spec: Daytona Blue Black pack Carbon aero kit Hard top Black wheels Red calipers Silver interior Aircon Stereo Sound insulation, carpets & mats I thought it particularly odd that black interior & stitching was another £2200. I tried to get some photos from the Factory of the silver but with working from home rules it was not easy to get photos from the trim shop apparently. I got told it is more toward silver rather than graphite.

  2. Looks like the Type 131 is gearing up for a go. Thought I'd get in quick and beat Autocar to the latest "exclusive" rendering of the new Lotus Type 131!

  4. Go onto SJ sportscars website and order one. With delivery it will be £30.00 and you know it will be the right one for the job as they are Lotus specialists. Click on Evora parts and then Electrical parts from the drop down box and it is listed as brake light switch funnily enough 🙂 It is not hard to fit just awkward to get at. I adopted the Lotus position (upside down with head looking up from footwell and feet in the air gently resting on rear of front seat). Any mechanic should be able to identify it and fit it within 10 minutes or so if you say it's on the brake pedal.

  5. @Arregueti I think you'll see the Type 131 as a category-crossing play by Lotus, rather than a single model. Stopping Elise, Exige and Evora and also having aspirations to go up market mean they will want to take a platform approach. We already know the Type 131 launch will include a V6 manual at the (initial) upper end and a 4cyl turbo DCT at the lower end, with both being positioned as being "between" Elise/Exige and Evora. The partnership with Alpine will add a model too. The recent Type 131 teaser showed three hidden cars, so maybe there's a third or maybe that's the Alpine one. I imagine the model strategy will include adding more variants going up market and rounding out the middle. Exciting times, some more teaser shots due soon and the launch only 4 months away.

  7. Would be a good deal just for engine/gearbox and other spares. But a shame to let what seemed like a nice (and running!) car go to waste...

  10. I have to say I keep thinking about doing this coversion for no other reason than I think the standard gearbox and clutch really detract from the driving pleasure of the Esprit. The rest of the car is really tactile and has lovely control weights but the clutch and gearchange are just not a pleasure to use (in my opinion of course!) and results in a series of lunges rather than a flow when you're pressing on. There are now many higher powered versions of the Boxster/Cayman and even the 718S 4 cylinder versions put out over 300 ft lbf as standard so will support a higher load quite easilly. The problem seems to be a very high 2nd gear ratio, but different gearsets are available if the Lotus v8 torque doesnt mask the gap. The issues of driveshafts needing fabricting, mounts need fabricating and gear change/linkage are not really big issues. Any number of companies will make up a hybrid driveshaft if to take the old donor shafts to them and specifiy the overall length of the new shaft (Ive used DaveMac Propshafts in the past). The gearchange and (I think) cables will transplant directly from the donor Boxster/Cayman so that just leaves the simple fabrication of new mounts and cross-member. Not difficult jobs if you are into any kind of fabrication, or know someone who is. Still just musing, but I do dislike the standard gearbox.....

  11. No I didn’t watch the interview, but saw plenty of clips. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, but this is how I see it. C-List divorcee in a run-of-the-mill US TV show somehow gets a blind date with most eligible bachelor Prince Harry. Some time later, the couple get engaged and Meghan becomes famous around the world. They then enjoy a lavish Royal Wedding, broadcast live across the globe. The wedding is attended by only one member of her family, but several seemingly new “close” friends such as Oprah Winfrey and Serena Williams. They then have a baby, but complain about Press intrusion and step back from Royal duties. They announce a move to Canada to experience a quieter, more private life. Within months they make a second move, but this time to Los Angeles, the home of Hollywood and its 24 hour celebrity news machine, where nothing is kept private. The couple announce a new pregnancy and arrange a blockbuster big Bucks interview with Oprah, which is beamed around the world. Meghan plays both the mental health and the race cards about her baby’s skin colour, but cleverly doesn’t say who is alleged to have made this comment, presumably to protect herself from litigation. The next day all of her new friends are falling over themselves to support the Unhappy Couple. Serena Williams chips in, even Hillary Clinton mounts her high horse for some air time. I think that’s it.

  12. Everyone done it?/bothered? Supposed £1000 fine for not doing it. I’m sure I’ve done these darn things before but just can’t remember doing one. Filling in for a family of 4 takes around 30 mins but the detail of some of the questions is a bit why on Earth do they want to know all that. Do they really need/want to know how many O levels I didn’t get 35 years ago? - No Do they really need to know how on which mode of transportation my wife gets to work? - No And 3rd time in the last week (on different platforms) and most annoyingly I keep been asked - Do I identify as a male? - Yes I do!! - I have Bollox and a knob! - I’m going to start enclosing a picture soon!! 😡

  15. It would be A Massive Gain to have an epic engine! I'd like to buy one, I know that much. In truth, it's more than likely going to be the car that prises me out of my Evora.

  16. Fab in the quest for a perfectly smooth ride there is one thing you overlooked. Tire roundness, unfortunately there is always some variation due to manufacturing. I had my tire guy shave mine the least amount to get a perfectly round tire, made a huge difference in reducing the vibration. Along with your tire balancing it may help.

  23. There was a post on Facebook from a Peter Ha with an Exige V6 had the same issue, but then on the engine side. Fixed by his garage by cutting the rotten piece off and use high pressure couplers. Again, not at the same spot. No foam issue there... but a apparently road salt issue. Pretty poor design IMHO. (it's on the Exige owners group, so maybe not visible without membership: https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=957908428078939&set=gm.1670360346499187) He is on here if I am not mistaken, so pinging @ArthouseCompany

  24. Don't sell at present. The market has been down and values dropped significantly from March 2020 to about January this year. However the shortage of good used stock of "normal Cars" and lack of availability of used Lotus's has meant that classic car (and even original Evora) prices have started rising again. Monitoring the market is part of my job and I have sidetracked recently into used Lotus Pricing and because people haven't been listing their cars (its really difficult to sell at present as people can't test drive the car etc) there is a huge shortage of used classics on the market. Cars like my Evora NA have been selling at dealers for £26-8 but recently dealers like Silverstone have been pricing them up and I just saw a 2010 sell there which was re-advertised at £32 up from under £30k. The reason? In January last year there were 27 2009-2012 Evoras for sale on Autotrader. Today there are 2. Swapping that across to Esprit Pricing, Esprits had been increasing at a steady 7-10% per annum, especially the older stuff. However the blip of Lockdown 1 and 2 has meant people can't go out in their cars and as such anyone selling them has taken a hit. This is a false economy and we know no more will ever be built and they will only get rarer. 10-12 years ago I saw High wings selling at £10-12k. Today its almost "Ask your price" time. So the upshot of this whole Essay........... Your Esprit, if properly maintained, is THE BEST investment you can have right now. However if you have to sell it wait for the market to pick up again, say June/July to get best value! As a Professional, if I had the money and the Space I would be buying Classic Cars and especially Lotus's. I just wish I had kept my Esprit and bought the S1 I was offered 12 years ago, for £10k. It was rough but today the price........oh lordy!

  26. No Javascript blocking - I thought it might be this, but I don't block anything in Edge. I have AdBlock and Dark Reader as my only extensions Hmmm ... turn the Dark reader off then on, and the thread link reappears - or sort of on my screen (but not when I edit the post). Esprit Picture & Video Thread - Page 118 - Esprit Chat - The Lotus Forums #ForTheOwners edit again: I get the header, the text and a black blob in the middle I thought it was the recent update to Edge (last week or so) - now has vertical tabs - but maybe not. 28. What I never realised is that nurses pay must be controlled by those local councils. Because if it isn't, then the nurses pay is completely separate and should have no effect on who represents your views on local matters like bin collection, potholes etc.

  29. Surely the only reason there won’t be any FE Evoras is because the Lotus chaps scratched their heads before coming to the conclusion they couldn’t improve on it as is! 🤔 That’s what I’m telling myself anyhow.😁

  33. Amen to that. Attention grabbing in the worst degree and the news are lapping it up. Private life my ass, they just want more exposure and I'm ashamed that Harry (who I still have a modicum of respect for due to his service) is going along with it. I'm not a royalist but it's a very poor way to treat his family after all the privilege his status has brought him. Cut off? Only £40m in the bank and offended the tax payer isn't funding his security abroad? Meh. It's obvs very sad what happened with his much loved Mum but it seems Megan is the catalyst in all of this.

  36. HFL's New Race Car for 2021, Yes We're Racing a Lotus 😍 I am excited to announce that for the 2021 motorsport season we will be competing in the Lotus Elise Trophy Championship around the UK's best circuits and here is our new race car fresh from the Lotus Cars Production line, I may start a new thread but thought worth posting here first. I've owned Lotus's for over 30 years now, my first true car love was a Lotus Elan M100 back in 1989 and since then I have had the pleasure of owning quite a few Lotus Cars, so to finally get to race a Lotus is super exciting and especially so as Lotus recently announced that 2021 is the final year of Elise production after over 25 years so better late than never though I guess to finally drive one in anger on track. So thanks to the team at Lotus Silverstone for supplying the beautiful 250 Cup in Porsche Miami Blue, the car is now off to Hangar 111 to be converted into a race car which basically means pulling it all apart and replacing a ridiculous amount of parts. I will update regularly with how the season is progressing, just hope I don't make too much of a fool of myself, and hopefully soon motorsport fans will be allowed back to the track so feel free to come along to watch the shenanigans unfold. For More info please follow link - https://bit.ly/2Oyc8ve Some more exciting HFL Motorsport news coming very soon! Cheers, Paul.

  38. My dear Ma passed away last night in her sleep. She lives in Spain and this year has been in and out of hospital quite a bit. She did have a positive covid test a few weeks ago. This and complications with pneumonia I think weaken her too much and we were told a couple of days ago that her lungs were failed after she was rushed back in on Tuesday as she was unresponsive with a very weak pulse. Rest In Peace Mum.
