  1. Lol, I know of one [email protected] who was waxing lyrical about how he would never sell his red NA and then blew £80k on a brand new 410 sport - didn't even have any seats in the back. Bloody numpty. Complete knob.

  5. Don't worry, there are examples on here of individuals who have posted that they quite liked the look of (for example) a brand new racing green Evora 400, but had no intention of trading up from their NA. Then followed it up with their next post 2 days later which just said "Bugger I have no self control"

  6. It took me a grand total of 48 hours from first even thinking about an Evora, to seeking one out on Autotrader, going to view/test drive it and then handing over the deposit on the first one I looked at. I could have ummed and aghed for another 8 years and still not saved a penny.

  9. The Car article specifically says they don’t want to be a pseudo Porsche but would like their volumes (and profit I’d assume) . Equally given Porsche’s success from near ruin it’s not unreasonable to compare the brands and the press always need a comparison, and frankly rather they mention a brand who is successful than one that is or has failed. Now more importantly where’s the 131 spy pics ... give Rob Borrett and James Andrew a nudge Bibs 😁

  10. You beat me to it Colin. I'm getting tired of the is it worth this/not worth this debate. It's worth what you are prepared to pay for it. So if you don't want to pay for it don't buy it. There is little "logic" to the prices as you are talking about a car than even when new sold around 200 models a year. It is not a mass market piece of shit from some common brand that sells each year in tens of thousands as a supposedly premium, exclusive, product. It is an almost bespoke custom model with hardly ever two cars being identical. I wish you all the best with buying one Charlie, but ju

  11. On a short fuse today as feeling unwell. Just posted this elsewhere. Frankly, anyone selling an NA sub £30k is an idiot! Why would you do that when both Market research and supply demand says £30-35k is where the market is!! On an aside, I deal with over 100 dealers in the UK and have just sent an email out asking them to call me with any Evora they get offered. As a Professional buyer, If someone's stupid enough to sell sub £30k I want a piece of that action. As an example, Peugeot Boxer Long and High were £14000 for a 12 month example a year ago. Now they book at £1800

  12. Today's Windle interview, about what he learned at Tesla. Some interesting snippets about the Roadster and why Lotus is going straight to electric. Hard to think of a better qualified bloke to be in charge currently. I'm very hopeful for the future. https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-news/industry-news/lotus/matthew-windle/

  16. Hello. Just joined. Have owned an 88 Stevens NA Esprit for a couple of years and having been keeping an eye on this site - thought it a good idea to sign up! Based S/E UK. Car lives in storage over winter - picking it back up end of May.

  17. Pick a place, pick a date and time and people will without doubt come along and talk to you about cars. And not James Bond, unless you ask about him. Before you know it you'll have a few new Lotus friends in real life and enjoy a regular meet with them. That's how it works

  18. Feck me on paper then I've made just shy of 10k in 9 Months of ownership ... I'm liking this Evora thing ... Not selling the thing though just lets me tell the boss what a good idea it was 😅😅

  20. All taken in good spirit! I'll be with you lot and talking the prices up as soon as I've got my hands on one anyway. I'll report back when it happens and you can all laugh at me for having to spend £32k...

  21. Then you will get lotus people on here and seloc saying that is too dear. Lotus no longer sell to just lotus people and the new buyer will pay the right price for one without a quibble

  24. I agree @scotty435 - they briefly dropped as low as £25k but do certainly now to be £30k again which is where they have sort of been around for the last 5 years. Indeed, @Kimbers as he stated was quoted £1500 more for his car than I paid for it with half the mileage 4 years previously! And that is for a +0!!! That is a truly remarkable performance and testament to what great cars they are.

  25. I used the polycuramine epoxy coating. Seems very durable, and a little slippery when wet. I do like it better than concrete. Much easier to clean spills!

  26. If only they had realised they could increase efficiencies by sacking themselves. Ive also noticed HR never downsize their own departments.

  27. I genuinely think you are incorrect here. Lotus announcing the phasing out of the Evora has whipped up a fury and folks are hunting out cars. Wish I’d kept mine - but it was 18 months of free motoring and I loved every minute.

  30. I'm not sure what you're angry about or why it's caused a vent but Dany moved to Hereford recently to start his own Special Forces Atelier company, ARSAS. Perhaps it's that. Where you talking about this thread? I've made a reply for you in it

  32. It was in a new house. The concrete had been poured months before, but no spills yet. I did have to grind the floor, since the new concrete crust isn't great for adhesion. I rented a concrete floor grinder, took a few hours. I washed the dust off. The pouring of the polycuramine epoxy is fast and simple. It comes in two parts of a pouch that you squeeze one part into the other and then mix for 15s. Pour it out and spread with a roller. I have a 3 car garage and it took approx 3 kits of the 2.5car garage to get the coverage that I wanted. I also sealed the seams with Sika sealant. I used

  33. Hello people of Hereford and Worcester. I want to revive this thread because, being from Herefordshire, I don't feel well served by the current, um, regionalisation of meets. I feel like we fall between two stalls. Midlands meets feel very far away and I don't feel Welsh enough (or brave enough) to venture over the border. Plus it's totally illegal now. So (now that my car is back with me and on the road), I wanted to see if there is any interest in setting up (just like this thread has tried to do previously) a mini sub region, to allow those of us in the Marches (plus anyone else,

  34. You nailed it! I'm definitely implying the article is written in manner which leaves that impression, and the repeated reference, could be many things, to include the Author's SEO staff trying to draw traffic to the article. Or even a directive given in a Board of Directors meeting. Either way, I'm not a huge fan of how the article is written. Or the picture it paints. I, like you find the idea preposterous, I like Porsche plenty, but it's not a Lotus, you have my concurrence for sure.

  36. Useless fact - the first series of Line of Duty was filmed in Millennium Point in Birmingham in the offices where I worked. My claim to fame (such as it is) is that the AC12 offices were actually my offices. The interview room I have used many times for "interviews".

  37. It says a famous engine manufacturer - Cosworth? Although strange to think they might develop a bespoke engine when electric is going to dominate in a few years time.

  38. I just sealed my concrete floor. Stops it ‘dusting’ and makes spills easier to clean up. I did consider a 2 pack floor paint but it’s relatively expensive and mine’s a working garage so good enough for me.

  39. I was curious as to what colour combo you would be looking for.. I'm not sure if i'm relieved or gutted that you don't like my Ardent Red LE with oyster interior..! Good luck with the search mate - I admire your patience, when I sold my Elise i was determined to wait 6 months and have a rational approach - I crumbled in 12 days.. Got a PM from a member selling through a forum - Took one look and that was that.. I have the self control of a puppy...

  40. Far too late here -sorry! May help in the future. This is the tool I made to hold the hub while undoing/tightening the nuts on my Elite: It made removing/tightening the nuts pretty easy with no damage to the studs. The end of the bar sits on a suitable block of timber - one side or the other depending on whether removing or tightening. Pete

  41. My method for reinstall of the bearing/axle was to heat the hub carrier in the barbecue - carefully - to sub 300 F. The bearing, which had been in the freezer, was given a quick smear of Copaslip IIRC and just dropped into place.

  47. Sorry, I've just come across this thread... Better late than never! I was one of the engineers at Lotus who worked on C875 CCL back in 1987. I designed a twin-display electronic dashboard system to replace the standard binnacle; the prototype was installed into C875 CCL and worked reasonably well. The whole process was documented on a video produced by the Design Council, called "Living By Design". This was part of a series of educational videos made for students of science & engineering. I left Lotus in 1988, no idea what happened to the car - nice to hear it still exists, even
