  1. As I will shortly be having a go at rewiring my 1974 Lotus Elite and the existing wiring diagrams are killing my eyes. I thought I would recreate the wiring diagram in a visio type format. I will attach it here in case its of use to anyone else. This is a draw.io file so you will have to save the file locally then go to the draw.io website to see it. I have also split the various parts of the wiring diagram into different layers so you can just view the part you are interested in without all the noise. Please bear in mind I did this in a bit of a rush so hopefully there wont be too many errors!! Lotus Elite Wiring 2.drawio

  3. I don't see anyone for Hamilton to be scared off in car number 2. Certainly not Russell. Verstappen has the car to beat Hamilton who just seems better at eeking out his tyres, managing the car. I really do think it is time to recognise we are seeing the greatest F1 driver of the modern era in Hamilton. He deserves credit. By the way I was never a big Hamilton fan, but his driving in the past few years has just been on another level in my very humble opinion.

  9. Hamilton is doing to Red Bull what he did to Ferrari in 2017 & 2018. I’m not convinced the Merc is a quicker race car than the Red Bull, Bottas can’t get close to Verstappen and while he may not be in Hamilton’s league (or Verstappen’s) he is a very quick driver by any other measure. The difference is Hamilton, and I still don’t think he gets all the credit he deserves. If he has the best car, he just runs away with it. If he doesn’t have the best car he stays in the fight. It’s his ability to manage his tyres better than everyone else, whilst lapping more quickly than everyone else that sets him apart.

  12. Where have all the people gone who say it’s all about the car?. Bottas is a good driver but not a champion. If it was not for Hamilton, Max would have be on a easy road to the championship already. Let’s celebrate we are watching something that is never going repeated in our life time and probably never. I do appreciate you can not compare different eras, but come on if Lewis is not the best British sportspersons ever who is ?

  13. Wow, did not expect Hamilton to win that after losing the lead on the opening lap. Driver+car+strategy=win. Just wow. Hamilton seems very "quiet" these days whilst driving compared to Verstappen. Great drive by Verstappen but Mercedes really pulled it out of the bag with the strategy. However, very mature interview from Max with Jenson after the race and even a smile! He's maturing and will surely be WDC soon.

  16. I think this is a good thing. Just like the 7 lives on in Caterham (and others) and is still considered a reference in its niche. This could be an answer for those who want a pure driving experience and would find the Emira too big/complicated/comfortable/... It light not be a Lotus, but the spirit will live on. Just imagine if someone had bought the rights to the Esprit and had continued to evolve the platform and shape with modern engines etc. Different price range to a 7 for sure, but no doubt many would dream of such a car. Which is not to say it would sell well enough to be viable... Filip

  27. Not on a Lotus, but I’ve found them to be brilliant on heavier things. (M3’s, Porsches) They can be noisy, and the do give off dust but it’s very easy to remove and not aggressive. I never found the initial bite to be too high, or the pads hard to modulate at different temperatures so I can’t see why they wouldn’t work on the lighter Exige.

  29. I agree. However, whomever becomes that figure will be a labelled a bigot, a fascist, a racist, etc. For some reason it is OK for the Celtic countries to "hate" the English, or to be passionate about independence, but heaven help the Englishman who hates them back, or yearns for an independent English state. Actually, if Scot's really understood their history, they would recognise that it was the Scottish King, who at that time was King of England too, who unified the crowns. The unification of parliaments came about as Scotland tried to establish a state in Central America, forged and based on greed and envy. After they bankrupted the country the unification of the parliaments happened and Scotland was bailed out by the English. The rest as they say is history.... However, it's all really because a an Australian American wee actor painted his face blue and was hung drawn and quartered by the dastardly English AFTER he was betrayed for english coin, by his fellow Scottish countryman. Oh the irony...

  32. We had our mutt at a BBQ in the Workshop earlier this week. Meeting some new people and his first time around a BBQ. Of course he was very interested in all that great smelling meat, but he behaved himself, waiting (reasonably) patiently at the table for scraps. My better halve was worried he'd be a complete hooligan, instead he made new friends. He did try and make our chef trip a couple of times when carrying the meat platter to and from the table, luckily without success. 🙂 No pictures I'm afraid, still wanted to share. He also tried to help us change dampers, but backed off when the impact was used. Bit too loud I think. Today he'll get a nice long walk in the fields. Filip

  35. But surely it will not be called Lotus or Elise and will be restyled and even have a different engine. Just as Caterham and Kia have done in the past.

  38. The list of fixes on your car seem extremely familiar to me! 😂 Although I've also had brake and throttle sensors replaced, upgraded the head unit, put metal oil pipes on the bottom of the engine and replaced the tailgate struts as well, plus cat-bypass pipe.......I think I'd better stop there!

  43. Why bother rendering a car under a cover? My guess is that both cars were delivered from Hethel in that truck and parked up there. One was covered up for the photo and one wasn’t.

  45. BHP is something many folks do seem obsessed with - I’ve been very guilty of that for sure. However - lotus has never been about chasing big bhp numbers - so if they were to go that route it wouldn’t be following the DNA of the company would it. The best esprit I ever had was my first one which was the lowest HP one. The Evora never felt like it was lacking - would another 200bhp have been nice ? Maybe - but I’m not sure it would have made it that much of a better car. Let’s see something beautiful, unique that handles like a dream that’s what it’s all about.
