  4. Great to see the Emira is going to be a proper 2 seater - and not a pretend one like @C8RKH has I just hope there’s a decent amount of space in the front @windymiller knows his Evora is big enough - but it’s a comfortable fit in the Esprit - it never ceases to amaze me at how practical the 2 seater lotus are

  7. I have joined the Sport 410 club with this beauty. 2019 registered, done 4750 mile and I'm the second owner. It came from B&C where I think Jamie had it in stock for some time hence the late reg. Sorry about the uninspiring pic, was at Silverstone on Friday and Saturday. It's a fabulous car, although I expected more revs from the Toyota engine. I assume the soft limiter blips around 6500 and it's all done before 7000? Will have to work at getting the best from it! But was busy in the garage today sorting out a cup holder in alli to attach to the side of the seat! Happy to be in the fold! In the picture is the Revolution A1 that I was driving on Friday. Wow, what a car! Graham

  8. Another thing that’s been niggling me for years. Considering the S4s cost £52K when it was new, you’d have thought Lotus might have put a bit of carpet up front at the time. Well, at least I did. Unable to put up with it any longer, I made up a pattern and sent it off to Steve Margary. The original Esprit colour carpet is NLA, so wouldn’t quite match the boot, but it’s as close as possible. In any case, you can’t really see the two areas at the same time. Steve did a really nice job on the horizontal bit and vertical bit at the front, Shan and I cut patterns then fitted the spare carpet around the sides, which was not too bad a job. I’m pleased with the result, maybe a couple of areas that I could have done better but without removing half the mechanical bits and bobs, that’s as good as it gets. My thanks to @Steve V8and his boss, Sharon, for another quality job at a great price.

  10. I've fitted Powerflex bushes to various different cars over the years, and taken them off as well! My overall findings are that proper sportscars respond well to them. Big heavy fast cars not so much. In bigger cars you need a bit more give in the suspension. I put them on the front and rear of my Evora S last year and been pleased. (ARB bushes) (Powerflex do 2 for the Evora. A black harder track one and a purple road one. I chose the purple) Hope that helps.

  11. Yep my old car. I’d say that’s a good price as it’s a proper Lotus motorsport built car and the fella that converted it wouldn’t have cut corners on the RHD conversion. Trevor.

  12. The auto braking is active. It shows you how hard it's braking on the dash and to be fair on hard braking I've seen 150kw going back into the battery as it brakes with regen 99% of the time*. *apart from the time I was 'testing' the car and the hazards came on as it thought I'd hit a wall

  16. Having owned the Elite for 18 months, bought as a rolling shell, I new it’s first owner was Mr. John Allen a man who has more letters after his name than in the alphabet. Today while looking for my prescription sunglasses, which I’ve had for around two months and as the weather has been wet or wet haven’t needed them. Well I started looking in places that no way they should be there, like in the microwave or jackets for extreme wet weather, I decided to look in a box which came with the elite containing Club Lotus magazines. After removing all the magazines the base of the box seemed rather think, turns out it was a clear wallet folder, in side was the early history of MPC92P and an account of a 1978 road trip by Mr.Allen across Europe. Don’t think I could say my car has never raced or rallied.

  17. If I may just add to the my learned friend's post above, a plastic bag secured with a cable tie over the end of the driveshafts and the yoke cups at the gearbox, will keep them all clean. If you need to move the car, pop the lower arm bolt back in temporarily and tie the driveshaft up with cable ties to the top arm pivot, or any convenient point.

  18. I re-discovered this thread whilst trying to identify turbo core number. Nice to have all numbers in one place. Interesting piece of history: Cliff Garrett founded a company in 1936 which came to be known as Garrett AiResearch or simply AiResearch. Garrett AiResearch designed and produced a wide range of military and industrial products for aerospace and general industry. It focused on fluid controls and hydraulics, avionics, foil bearings, turbochargers, aircraft engines, environmental control systems for aircraft and spacecraft, and other products. In 1968, after a merger with Signal Oil, Garrett became part of Signal Companies. In the mid-1980s, Signal merged with Allied Chemical & Dye, and became AlliedSignal, becoming an automotive, aerospace and engineering company. The Garrett Aviation division was sold to General Electric in 1997 and is now part of Landmark Aviation. AlliedSignal merged with Honeywell in 1999, where the turbocharger business resides today.

  23. This is getting so fcuking absurd, the BBC somehow manage to surpass their idiotic ideals once again. Why not just permanently obliterate all UK history & start again in 2020 Really is time to call time on them Note that, as yet, they haven’t had the balls to report this on their own news channel https://news.sky.com/story/last-night-of-the-proms-rule-britannia-and-land-of-hope-and-glory-face-the-axe-12054958

  28. IMHO, you would never compare a GTR to the Exige.....totally different animals. Grand Touring car vs Sports car. The GTR is a fine touring vehicle. As for track duty, while you can take your GTR to the track and have some fun, my friends modified GTR (and he is a very good driver) gets routinely spanked by either my 211 or V6 Exige. And, when I say spanked, I mean the GTR is 6-8 seconds a lap slower, even on tracks with relatively long straights. Don't even ask about consumables.... what a nightmare.... he's constantly replacing tires, brake pads, rotors, etc.

  29. Running in… don’t be too sympathetic, it’s not good for the long run. It even says that in the manual. Some people stay below 4K but again, it does say occasional short bursts at wider throttle and engine speeds will be beneficial.

  32. Can't help but think that we will see the "performance" on run of the mill electrics start to tail off as the focus shifts to range through smaller, and therefore less weighty batteries. Tesla strated the "performance" angle on EV sales and everyone else seems to feel as though they need to catch-up/be at the races but you have to ask why? Previously people where very happy with 10sec 0-60 family SUV's and now all of a sudden everyone needs a a 5 secs 0-60. It's only going to end in tears, and fitting tyres that spin/slip so easily just seems moronic to me as the buyers of these cars, unlike @Bibs, will not be familiar with high performance. We've already seen the comedy pictures of people getting confused with the one pedal driving, the Taycan that launched itself up a drive and over a wall, etc.

  33. This is utterly brilliant - and illustrates the vision Chapman had for the wedge generation. Pace, grace, space with high MPG and (relatively) low emissions. When will Governments learn, they need to tax cars on weight to encourage manufacturers to lose bulk and therefore reduce the carbon impact from source to showroom to scrap and local pollution (large brakes and tyres cause excessive dust in the atmosphere). ACBC so ahead of the curve. Again. Justin

  37. A little girl crashed her bike because she was busy staring at the car today. 'were you looking at the car?' said her dad ' we always admire that car' says her sister. Cue long discussion about the car. Love the interaction this car brings it's nice to propagate some car passion in others.

  38. "Add lightness" the good man said so who am I to argue? It's a bit of a heavy old lump when compared to its smaller siblings, so I thought I'd see what I could do to follow ACBC's vision. However, I think that I may have got a bit carried away and added too much lightness, or at the very least added the wrong lightness. I can't help feeling that any gains I might have from the reduction in mass are far outweighed by the even greater reduction in aerodynamic efficiency, . One thing on the plus side though, it won't half make night-time cross-country blasts a whole lot more exciting, .

  39. Many pups are not selling at those prices @windymiller - we have a litter of pups from our other bitch - we had to reduce the price from the standard advertised price which seemed level across the board to get them shifted - just one left now 👍

  42. I've driven an 18 plate GTR. As others have said, night and day difference to the Exige. The Exige has one purpose and that is to directly connect you to the road and the feelings of acceleration and speed. If you are even considering "practically" then look else where as it's a purpose built tool. The GTR is essentially a modern mass production saloon car with a lot of tech and a very powerful engine to allow it to go very fast. But in my opinion it's a disconnected experience. A bit like the difference between being on a Zoom call or meeting in person.

  43. So I wasn't gonna go to Goodwood FOS. Bit far and all just to see the Emira whizz past, but then Lotus announced that they are this year's central theme/advertiser/interactive thingy wotsit, and I decided that I can't not do this year if Lotus are doing many things. I can always not go next year! So, I'm ticketed for the 8th and I've booked myself into the West supercar park 😁. Am excited. Took the car to Silverstone and back today, which turned into a great fun drive. Every kind of road (and road user) and just sublime. Man, I love my car! This coming Wednesday morning (2nd Jun), I'm going to head over to Caffeine and Machine and check it out. I think the cross-country journey could be pretty awesome. Which brings me to - next meet, and I'm thinking something like w/e of 24/25 Jul ??? Local, like Coco's, or a drive to something like C&M (or similar). It's the weekend after the GB GP. What do we think?

  47. I find it extraordinary that in the internet age I’m forced by law to subscribe to the BBC in order to be to watch ANY live TV. I can’t think of a single thing I watch on the BBC. It should be forced to privatise and either go commercial or adopt a subscription model. The whole notion of a national broadcaster is out of date and the BBC has completely lost its way. Hopefully it will be on the governments agenda when Covid and Brexit are sorted.
