  1. For those interested, our position is explained here: https://bit.ly/3kAcjlS Dave

  2. Yes, as I understand it from PJS they put their last parts order in with Lotus on Thursday, so have secured an alternative source for genuine Lotus parts. A little perspective regarding the "whinging" quote earlier to add some balance. It's more a case of businesses that have worked hard to attain and maintain Lotus approval may feel very disappointed. I understand corporate business as I work for a multinational; the same elements such as engaged staff & high quality service leading to loyal customers and a profitable network apply however. PJS for one are very passionate about their business and they love the brand and won an award from Lotus for after sales service. I know they are extremely disappointed in having their approval terminated. I understand why Lotus has done what it has, however I believe there had been previous discussions about a "heritage" network being created, but apparently the plug was pulled on that around 8 weeks ago. I for one will be continuing to use PJS who are local to me; Paul, Louise and the team do a great job and are great ambassadors for the brand. It's a shame and I know that business is business, but I do feel really disappointed for the service centres losing approval not due to poor service quality. Those who are great at what they do servicing the legacy cars will survive if not flourish. My own feeling though is that there still is room for a "Heritage Lotus" network to support the pre-Emira vehicles.

  3. A little more on the project. Down on it's wheels for some final reference measurements for the custom front spacers. The rears are done.

  4. To bring this sometimes fractious thread to a close I got my hands on an Evora last week. 50,000 miles, recent Michelins, big service, brakes and pads for £28k. My view on the market is that Evoras may have moved a little but not as much as many other things. Anyway, I’m on your side now. Evora for under £30k mate? Keep dreaming.

  7. Once again I was photographed at the Nordschleife without noticing it. I only found the photos by chance on the Internet. Here are two of them. With kind regards Markus.

  10. Delay probably due to using the same 2 cars for all the promotional work and the same 2 cars being shipped all over the world. Surely it would have been a good idea for Lotus and its potential customers to have a few more cars for public viewing before now and ideally in different colours.

  11. Dave, thank you for posting what is a professional, balanced, informative, and FACTUAL account. It does credit to you and your team and I wish you every success for the future. Just a shame you are down there and I'm in Scotland..... Exactly how it should have been done... Well done

  12. Some of my mates girlfriends I wouldn't have driven with yours! For one you'd have needed a life buoy and a long rope, and the other was so rough you'd need 4x4 suspension!

  13. As a slight aside, there is a lot of popular wisdom and thought about what is the "right spec". Something that is kind of inevitable, and up for much debate. Don't think I've ever bought a car with a thought to resale. Too dumb, I guess.

  14. Absolutely. We also need to see some other colours desperately. A lot of us really do not need to see or sit in the cars again. We just need a truck load of more information on options.

  15. Danny’s been working in the pub / restaurant at the local posh caravan park. Daisy works there are well. They have had a new boss now for a few weeks - who’s a bit of a knob. He’s just come home early after telling the fool he doesn’t need to be treated like he has been for £4 something an hour and he can shove it. Nice one son 💪 - his sister says he was right 🤣

  17. This is the reason I’m cancelling my Emira order. I was so pissed off with the news I heard, I vowed I’d never buy another new Lotus. oh and don’t believe this heritage bollocks either… Watch this space….

  18. Ade I had the spacers, but they were 20mm dia with a 8mm hole and 12mm thick. I put 8mm repair washer above and blow spacer and got some longer screws. A 10mm nut would do the same as a spacer.

  19. Talk to the folks at Hethel on the number I posted. I'm sure they can sort that if you can get to the UK in the weeks after 21 Sept.

  20. Well, Switzerland is a small country. I'm quite glad about it, though - it will make Emira stand out even more in the sea of Porsches over here.

  21. Anyone in the UK who placed a deposit direct with Lotus and hasn't heard from a dealer yet, I suggest you contact the very helpful Emira team at Hethel on 0800 8044 577. They will line you up with a dealer and/or arrange for you to attend the nearest roadshow. @Evotion they've said provisionally UK test drives will start in Feb 2022.

  22. Thanks chaps. It's not really going to change much for us. Gives us a bit of freedom back with options for our customers - those who want genuine parts, fixed servicing schedules, etc can still have it, but we can also offer alternatives where appropriate.

  30. Hi Pete, yep all crap, but rather than weld up the holes and all the problems that brings , decided to purchase solid st. st. Dome head rivets And fix trim with the proper clips.

  31. Sorry to increase your trim woes, but there should be no holes in that stainless trim - they are held on with invisible fixings. I think there is a plastic "plug" that fits in the ends as well. Pete Edit - didn't see all the above posts - thought I was at the end of the thread! 🙄

  37. I tried out @C8RKH car on one of our IOM trips, my hip bone digs into the carbon seat on both sides, so short of surgery to remove a couple of chunks of bone not an option for me.

  38. I can't see how this can be deemed to be a good move. Yes, those of us in the know will hopefully continue to use these now disenfranchised garages, unless you have a full official Lotus service history, and wish to maintain that. For prospective newcomers to the brand, the reduction in the number of service centres could be offputting. I know two people who would have bought a Lotus, but for the perceived lack of a nearby official garage. Also, no matter how you dress this up with corporate speak, it must be a hell of a kick in the teeth for these garages who have, no doubt, invested time, effort and money in conforming to Lotus' requirements.

  43. I think they're using the Toyota V6 because it's very well known to Lotus so known reliability, less development cost, and probably cheaper to buy than a new V6 due to age and impending emissions non-compliance. Also a known quantity for the dealer network to service. Radford said they're going to 500hp and on to 600hp with the same Toyota V6 but with heavy modification. There are current V6 Exiges and Evoras running 500hp+ with the uprated supercharger and some strengthened internals plus different gearbox. Doable but £15-20k+. I'm sure Lotus will do hotter versions of the AMG in a couple of years. I'm not sure they'd go for a completely different AMG engine, as the development effort compared to upgrading the launch engine may not be justified if they've only got 7-10 years of ICE left to run. The £10-15k premium is for the First Edition compared to base own-spec, not the V6 vs i4 premium - that's not been declared yet and I'm guessing will be £2-3k.

  46. The badge apparently made up for the little, errm................................................engine. I think Lotus future is looking very bright to be honest. The Emira was a well executed launch and the car looks superb. I guess, rather selfishly, my issue is will this be at a cost to the "community" feel of being a Lotus owner? I get that Lotus needs to be profitable and drive numbers. I really do. But I guess I'm just being selfish.
