  3. Thank you @jonwat for the background knowledge of the europa. I only built the model from various pictures gained from the web. I will try and be a bit more specific with my research in the future 👍. I really enjoyed the Ferrari 641/2 (F190) build. It was the first kit of a car that used carbon decals. There was also a lot of detail missing from the original kit that just HAD to be added. I’m glad you like it. Thanks @Escape. Yes it does take an enormous amount of patience and a lot of lost little replica fastners banished to the carpet monster, though some bits do turn up months later when your on your hands and knees looking for something else you’ve dropped - the joys of small! 🙄

  4. You’re right of course Barrie but I was thinking from a design and ability approach to what’s available today. Is there anything that can match an S1 Elise available now? Caterham would be close perhaps but less rounded in ease of use. I’m not an investor Justin as I like driving too much so the whole retained value is very much secondary for me. I’m sure it will hold its own in the future market even with some well enjoyed miles under the wheels. No doubt an attitude that has cost me money over the years of Lotus ownership but worth every penny. T.

  7. Welcome [email protected] who visited me yesterday for a quick check over his lovely SE, on which I sorted out a couple of issues. It's fair to say he's had a rocky start to Esprit ownership, but it's all coming good now. And thanks so much for the lovely gift that arrived today! A firm favourite of mine; how did he know? And finally the request. I've seen some pics of Grahame's hobby, and they're pretty astounding! So, Grahame, get some posted here, as I know people will love them...

Goodness me, and this despite the fact I never used any of them due to becoming fed up laying on my back staring at a pedal box and a snake’s wedding of wiring, wondering whether I’d ever be able to extricate myself, or whether I would simply expire in that position and have to be buried like that with the car in an unmarked grave. No doubt I’ll be stripped of the Exotics franchise following the inevitable decision handed down by the Watford-based kangaroo court. It’s a witch-hunt, I tell you! Whatever happened to ‘innocent until proven guilty’?

  11. So, went to see this. Was not sure what to expect as had "bad" memories of the previous film with Sting iirc. Well, all i can say is after sitting through 3 hours of it in the cinema I can't wait for the next episode! Absolutely loved it! Thought it was very slick in production and the story went at a good pace to keep you interested, but really developed the characters. Nice one.

  12. Hi I recently took the plunge with an Esprit and went for an S4s, having been looking at later models like you. I am absolutely no expert but, as far as I found, of the V8s, the later ones are the 'ones to have' and that came from my Lotus mechanic, however the whole V8 maintenance and scary stories put me off those. I'm sure others with argue to the contrary though. So for me it came down to the GT3 or S4s and there were, and still are, a few GT3s about but no S4s's. I held on though as I just preferred the look of the S4s and found that the low down torque, with the extra BHP I guess, made the S4s feel faster, although I'm sure in the real world there is next to no difference. I understand that the GT3 is better for handling but I'm not going to be pushing a 25 year old car much in that regard, especially with my lack of talent! At the end of the day, they are all fantastic wedge-shapes, have pop-up headlights and look like the cars I drove on my Atari ST in the 90s, so drive a few, see what you think and I'm pretty sure you will enjoy whatever you decide.   18. Hi Grahame, your modesty around your models is totally refreshing in this day and age. I personally have absolutely loved seeing your models (so much so I casted the pictures from my phone to my sons 70" 4k TV so I could see and appreciate all the details in high definition). I just wanted to say thank you for sharing bud. I really appreciate you letting me in to what is obviously a passion for you. So, a heartfelt thank you. I've had a shit day so far and your pictures and models really brightened up my day! 👍

  20. I would say that Porsche is the Evil Empire, and Geely is like Jabba the Hut - big beast holding the Lotus chains.... The Dark Side is of course, an EV. Here's the Emperor charging his Tesla: Oh and to keep on topic, if my Emira was a GT/Weekend car I'd go V6 and MANUAL. A daily driver - then V6 auto or I4 DCT If it was a fast toy/track focused car I'd go I4 DCT (but in reality would probably spend my money on a manual Exige).

  22. Thanks for the link, that’s a cracker of a car. I don’t think it’s overpriced really given the tiny amount of miles covered and an opportunity to relive the past perhaps. Would I buy either of these cars? Yes if I could afford them then why not. I’ve just had an Apline A310 mechanically refreshed and it owes me more than these cars, with the benefit of hindsight I’d definitely have one of these two sitting in the garage. T.

  23. That's behind a paywall so can't read the full article, however, your headline is like the BBC, misleading! What it says is "supply chain disruption leading to fears of water treatment chemical shortage". This is different to the government apparently giving the green light! However, the reality is, I believe, that the Environment Agency (which is by the way a non-department public body so NOT part of a government body - so NOT the Government!), introduced a waiver to temporarily relax the rules until the end of the year (not forever!), on Tuesday of last week, so that some companies could APPLY (so no automatic right granted) for some waste to not go through the third and final stage of treatment which uses Ferric Sulphate to suppress (not eradicate) the growth of algae. There is currently NO SHORTAGE of Ferric Sulphate reported by an of the water companies in the UK, and so, to date, there has been NO APPLICATION for the waiver lodged by ANY water company. The Agency has taken this action as a precautionary action only. So surprise, surprise, YET AGAIN, we have fearmongering and scaremongering around what Brexit might do, BEFORE it is happened. This pattern of "news" has been endemic in many branches of our so called "free press" and the BBC ever since the Brexit result was announced (and actually long before it). I for one am getting fed up of the half arsed statements that are spread as in fact because people cannot read further than the headline!

  28. This Tamiya kit was MASSIVELY modified from the original after a visit to the beaulieu museum, where they very kindly take a lot of close up photos of the car (chassis 003). Second was the Lotus 72D, again another Tamiya kit, and yes modified…

  29. Hello from South Yorkshire UK. I recently acquired my 2010 Evora na having done a swap for an AC Cobra Replica I had. I must say as my first Lotus I'm quite impressed, although it's not the quickest car it certainly makes up for it with its handling, although saying that I find it plenty quick enough for UK roads. Having previously owned, Aston Martin Vantage V8, BMW M4, Porsche 911 996 turbo and a Jaguar F Type V8 R. The latter of which was way too quick for our roads and it would have been licence bye bye if I'd kept it. Just wondering if any of you are from my area as I spotted a nice white elise yesterday on my travels.

  30. Interesting. It does sound like Inversed's guess is probably correct. Certain old parts (not really sure what though, surely the ECU coding on all FE's is the same?) on some cars mean you might be able to use a switch, but on other cars not. I would like a switch a guess, but certainly not that bothered. I also like the Jekyll and Hyde nature of it. Sound wise the effect is like a vtec turned up to 11.5!

  37. Exhause valve wiring loom was already in mine, easy job to fit the switch. The ECU recognises it, and yes the digi dash displays exhaust valve open or closed too. Perfect!
