  1. You are fully protected under consumer law, I wouldn't worry about. The only risk I see is if Lotus Cars Ltd goes under, which is far less likely than at any time in the last 70 years. 😄 Justin

  4. I think if you see a car and able to drive it and like it then you decide if you want to buy it whether it’s first or fifth car that you view ? to be honest if it’s a good car you know from first sight and drive don’t think you can afford to leave it for a week and expect the car to be still on sale ?

  6. @bogieI don't particularly disagree with the majority of your post. Yes the "senile" comment may have been a bit harsh but, actual 'having feelings' apart, he really should think before he speaks, some of his comments have not been helpful. What is the point of having a 'war of words,' it just detracts from what the US and the majority of the world is trying to achieve in getting Russia out of Ukraine by allowing Putin's regime to use them against the West I personally just wish that the US would elect a president who is younger than 60 and is not a delusional egomaniac like your former "peoples' President" as he likes to currently call himself.

  7. Why is it not good? We are starting to see mass graves of innocents, murdered children and whole families. There's now talk of it being genocide. Putin needs to go and all his little minions. If that means Nato being involved then do it! That's what they were designed to stop! The Czechs and Polish remember this all too well hence why they are so vocal and stepping up! And I say this from someone from Norfolk where we have American and many UK airbases that would be the first to be hit. I understand the possible consequences.

  8. Give those Polish MiG29s to Ukraine. Now that the Russians have pulled back from the North-Western areas of the country, it would give Ukraine more options for defending the South and East. It’s not as if the Russians are playing by the rules, so it’s high time we stepped up the military option. Financial sanctions are welcome, but won’t drive Russia out of the occupied territories, or keep them from invading further. These MiGs could at least help keep Russian bombers out of the skies over Ukrainian cities.

  9. At last, some 6 months from car delivery to dealer, my soft top if finally on its way to them. Can't wait to experience the car with roof off as the weather gets better 😀 Don't think I've seen any of these for sale, so be very interesting where the market is. Selling private or through dealer ?

  10. @Edinburgh 111s - I've been using social media for over half of my life and have over a million followers for my photography work on various platforms, I'm more than aware of how the internet works. Everyone can have an opinion, and that's great. Doesn't mean I care about their opinion though, especially when they haven't actually seen the car yet 🥴 I have built my car for me, and me alone, there are things on it that people won't like, I'm absolutely okay with that as I love it all. 🤗

  11. Hello all, I would like to introduce my new to me my 2013 Exige S in Chrome orange. I am not new to Lotus this been my 5th car, first was a 2001 Elise Racetech, a 2004 111R that got made into a Elise SC and a 2007 Europa S which kicked out over 330Hp and my last Lotus was a 2010 Exige 240pp/260, also my Dad has a 1973 Elan plus 2 130/5 which we restored in 1991/93. So why go for a V6 ? I have loved every Lotus owned but felt although different vehicles they are all pretty similar and the V6 itch just had to be scratched. Each one of my Lotuses i have pretty much fully rebuilt them, as well as constantly working on friends Lotus or VX220 but this is my first experience with the V6 so i will share my experiences and appolagies now for my ramblings. Anyway here it is first day after it was delivered January 28th 😀

  16. Thanks again for all the recommendations guys, ended up going with AdrianFlux with agreed value that I'll need to get sorted out before it begins on the 1st of May, almost ready for another summer of fun! It was about £900 in the end so all considered not bad for someone my age with 2 years no claims on the car. Haha I know I know, the cars only got just over 18,000 on the clock so I'm doing my best to keep it within the just under 2000 mile a year average it's done in it's lifetime. If it ever becomes too slow I know I'll be looking at a Exige to replace it, but I don't think I'm ready for the V6 territory yet. There's a few I know off in and around the Inverness area.

  17. That slotted screw is evidence of a previous repair, it would originally have been a mushroom shaped pin, peened into the arm. If you carefully pry up the seal, you then have clearance to tap out the pin that retains the paddle. You then at least can see if you can repair it. Drilling both parts and installing small steel pins might work. If you can find a good paddle, you can swap it over. A similar style of paddle is used on the Lancia Delta and someone has uploaded an STL file to Shapeways, so you can order one in 3D printed Nylon. There's no CAD file publically available for the Lotus/Toyota parts, so one would have to be created. I've had motorcycle alternator coil bobbins 3D printed by 3DPrintUK from CAD I created.

  18. Having to juggle this job with grandchild-care duties, so it's coming along sedately. I've cobbled together a new ARB bush insertion tool from bits of an old skool bush tool, a bunch of snubber washers, and a bearing race, and I'm very, very happy with it! I can install the bush in seconds using this tool and (did I mention it?) my evil Milwaukee impact driver - no press. It does take a huge amount of torque before that oh-so-satisfying pop. All the other stuff is now renewed on the lower arms, and the new upper kit has been prepared. New dampers installed. They measure slightly shorter than the originals at full extension; it'll be interesting to see where the car sits. It's now all ready for righty-tighty, some time in the next 48 hours... Time to renew my attack on the gin mountain...

I wanted Pete Buttigieg or Amy Klobuchar originally. Either one would have made a great VP/President or vice versa.

  24. Thanks Andy, must admit, I'm lost with that 😕. Wouldn't I just have two broken handles? In the meantime, I've spoken with Mike Taylor at Lotusbits. He may be able to fix or replace. Also, the good news is that he's planning have remanufactured door handles sometime soon - no dates yet, depends on how well the pre production samples go

  25. If Putin wants to fuel his propaganda war, whether NATO is directly involved or not he will just lie about it and say they are. The Russians just invent stories to suit their agenda and they are so brainwashed that they then believe their own lies. Doesn’t help when a senile President across the pond keeps handing the Kremlin the means to fuel their propaganda. Russian state TV reports all of the scenes reported in Bucha are fake and staged by the West. The town of Bucha was chosen for this because of President Biden calling President Putin a “butcher” so the significance rings true to the West Bernard Manning had more diplomacy than Biden.

  27. The deposit holder will have to pay the full balance 30 days before delivery. So unless he’s got £70k spare cash for 30 days (£80k OTR less £10k deposit from purchaser) he’ll be trying to get the £70k from the buyer before he physically has the car. Good luck with that!

  28. I decided to ask Aim technical support in Italy what the likelihood of a firmware upgrade for the MX Lotus dash was... Here's the reply: Hello Rob, this dash is produced under the manufacturer's specifications, and it doesn't support all of the functions that we provide on the aftermarket MX2E, both sold with Lotus and AiM brands. For any enquiry relevant to this OEM dash, the appropriate addressee is Lotus cars, despite I suppose they do not plan to have updates for such a unit. Regards, Stefano D'Andria Technical Support AiM TECH Srl Via Cavalcanti, 8 20063 Cernusco Sul Naviglio Milano - Italy, 8 So that's a bit of a bugger... but they clearly want you to buy their MX2E dash instead - makes perfect business sense. Next email will be to Lotus themselves...

  29. I was always thinking what is the time difference between the fast and slow shift or the one with the mechanical sympathy, as you nicely called this phenomenon 😀 Not sure whether those would be microseconds, I guess it half a second. Please note that engine revs falls a lot during the slow shift 🤓 But I fully agree that it’s nonsense for the road and not important for the trackday… until you meet some friend on a track with a Porsche, thinking P is the only vehicle for the track 😂 Than you lose a lot when shifting in parallel with the PDK (personal experiences here) 😂 But by the end of the day… Lotus is a track focused manufacturer. Not all of us buy Lotus because of the track. But when I picked Cup430 instead of Elise (which is a great car) or instead of Sport 390 (which has far the best price performance ratio), I paid the premium just because of the track, miliseconds or microseconds. Just want the car to shift as fast as possible. But yeah, some people buy it to be a garage statue… which I also understand and support. Better Lotus in a garage than no Lotus 😀 Hey, I was also educated that the synchromesh is not ideal for track use 🤷‍♂️ Great for the LSD, really want to hear your opinion about it. I am hesitating because Lotus engineers said that the TC wouldn’t like the LSD. So really wonder whether would you drive with TC disabled or in race mode. And how would it be in RACE TC 👍

  36. Ideally on track you want to shift as quickly as possible without reminding yourself to slow it down. Nonetheless the difference is micro seconds so unless you are racing, dun think you will really be too disappointed with your track times as there are other areas where you can improve to make up the difference imho. Watch this vid, and you see they experienced the same crunch going into 5th. They were able to minimize/ prevent it by showing some mechanical sympathy. I have to admit I have yet to take my car on track, so it will be interesting once I do if I still feel the same way about slowing down the shift…LOL. My gearbox is out atm pending LSD install.

  37. And another LotusRescue off to her new home overnight. Destination Market Drayton. Little cracker, went through a new MOT today and passed with no advisories. Not bad for her 1st MOT in 11 year's. Straight back home, then load up another rescue to go the South. This time an Elite type 75 to Linchfield. Looking at doing just over 2,000 miles over the next 4 day's. Two cars South and one coming back North. If we pass on on route, gives us a toot and keep me awake lol.

  39. That photo is actually the LH tank on my S3, the one that doesn't have the fuel sender. Sparky was able to pop the RH one out without a problem, with all the trunking and air boxes out of the way it took maybe 15 minutes, plus a few expletives. Mine is a 85/6 car and I've since noticed that the earlier S3 cars have a different shelf arrangement over the tanks which may mean that the tanks on both sides come out without an issue.

  40. Welcome! 2k miles a year is criminal, use it more haha! I've done more than that in my Exige and had it only 7 months. There's enough Lotus up here now to form a Highland club I think.....

  41. Well guys, I think I may have solved the issue. I initially ran the engine without driveshafts connected. When I installed the brake discs and connected driveshafts I noticed I had missed the bolt that holds the turbo oil drain pipe to the gearbox. Last night in bed I was lying there thinking what the issue could be. This bolt came to mind. I got up and went outside again. Undid the bolt, put the car in gear and rocked it. Engine is now turning. I believe bolt too long and had jammed onto flywheel. Will check timing etc later but I'm really thinking the problem has been found. Long evening ahead but things are looking promising.

  43. Despite a significant blip earlier in the week, on balance this still deserves to go in here. JENNIFER - LATEST UPDATE: A bit of a mixed bag this week again, with what was probably her best day to date immediately followed by her worst since she left the High Dependency Unit, . Monday started the week on a high. Being a nice day, I'd taken Jennifer out to the patio area to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. She was watching the aircraft passing over on their final descent into Edinburgh and started asking me what each one was, adding little comments such as "You always call them that, don't you?" when I described one as 'Queasy Jet'. In between, I was making small talk about the weather and the birds and flowers that were present when Jennifer suddenly came out with "That's all you seem to keep talking about. When are we going to have a proper conversation?" I almost fell off my seat at that, but then proceeded do do as requested. On Tuesday I went in all buoyed-up from the previous days 'successes' only to find Jennifer sitting staring at a point on the ceiling, completely oblivious to everything going on around her, she never said a word the whole time I was there and gave no reaction to anything I said or did. The medical team were concerned enough to send her for a scan in case she'd suffered another 'event' but fortunately the results came back clear so I can only assume that her brain was having an off-day to recharge its batteries. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday were all much the same - she was a lot better than Tuesday (not as great as Monday though) and was able to have a bit of a chat with me although some of what she was saying was not very coherent whilst other phrases and sentences were spot-on. Yesterday was dog therapy day and as before, it had the desired effect. It was a bit chilly out so the session had to be limited to about 30 minutes but that was still enough to give Jennifer the boost she was needing. After popping the dogs back in the car, I returned her to the ward and just at that, the menu for today's meals arrived. I ran through it with her, only for her to comment at the end of the list of choices, "Just tick anything as they all taste the same anyway". . That's more like the Jennifer of old - just maybe better not mention to anybody that she used to be a Catering Manager with the NHS, . Finger crossed for more of the same when I go in this afternoon.

  44. Here are some of the tools I have used to tighten K-nuts (10mm heads) on the gen 3 (CNC flanges) header. Most useful were ratcheting ring spanners, "ratchet-less" stubby ratchet handle and wobbly extensions. Most difficult were 4 top nuts in the milled "pockets" (real PITA!). They have to driven first and incrementally moving back and forth trough all cylinders.

  46. I have several Vegan friends and family. And I would never try and influence them to go back to meat (Wish they would offer me the same courtesy). But just recently I had call to laugh after a Newly Vegan Friend got ill. And for the next 3 months stayed ill and got worse. After spending thousands in taxpayers money at the GP and having tests at Hospital they were finally diagnosed with....... Veganism. They hadn't told their doctor about going Vegan as "Its a healthy lifestyle and couldn't possibly be the reason they were ill". It appears, like many (mainly older people) that his body just can't take a vegan diet. I have several friends who have gone vegan and suffered mentally as well. This because their diet isn't planned well enough and a shortage of Amino Acids causes imbalance in the brain and the chemicals it produces. But nearly all of them, when this is pointed out, say its not possible and Veganism is healthy and makes them happier. The upshot is that the Human body needs supplements to go on a Vegan Diet. Just how natural is it!!!?
