Hi, I think I should offically say hello, as I can finally stop being a serial lurker! I have always loved Lotus cars and grew up an easy cycle ride from the factory. My friend and I were caught on a number of occasions by security peering through the then wooden fence on the tracks hairpin bend. That was back in the days of the Camel v12 F1 car. After a visit to Cringleford school fete from the Esprit with the skis on the back I was hooked. I had my dream car! Having a "toy" in my garage has always been an ambition, but life has always managed to halt that ambition. Until now!! I always wanted an Esprit but only having basic spanner skills I decided the newest Lotus I could afford would be the best idea. The Evora ticked all the boxes. I wanted a car to tour in and one that could fit luggage. As a lurker of all the Lotus forums I had done all the research possible on the Evora. Once the green light was given by my wonderfull wife, the hunt was on. Within two minutes I produced the advert from Hendeys of Exeter of a blue Evora S (sr). At this point I had never been in an Evora so a quick trip to the Lotus garage in Long Stratton fixed that. They had a 400 and an S, but one was to pricey the other not my colour. So ignoring any advice about test driving a few cars and never buying the first car you see, I bought the car from Exeter. It came a few weeks later on a transporter and now it was mine. It was November. The weather was awful. I waited and waited for a dry day to actually drive my first Lotus. OMG. There are moments in life that can't be described to others.....this was one of them. I was taken to a heavenly place. Its awesome. Im still an absolute novice at driving it, It scares me and makes me smile at the same time. Its the fastest car I have owned and in my world it is a super car. It is a masterpiece. And I have never driven a Porsche so nothing to compare it with! Long live Lotus! So Hello TLF and thanks for the years of reading!22 points

Well today - Danny has officially entered the fold as a proud Lotus owner. We saw this today after waiting for some weeks to see her. She’s a lovely wee thing and has been off the road for some time. In the coming weeks she will be serviced, cleaned and returned to use for him to enjoy. She runs and drives but does obviously need some new tyres and love. I am so chuffed for him17 points

I've just had the Evora freshened up at the front, ridding the car of the stone chipped front bumper. Sprayed at M-Tech in St.Leonards-On-Sea. I think they've done a wonderful job and it's back to looking immaculate. I got a couple of lucky shots also just as the sun was setting, showing off what an amazing colour burnt orange is ❤️16 points

A young pretender has finally arrived after a 21 month wait! Only driven back from Bristol (25 miles) and weather wasnt good. Its a nice place to be and the quality is very good and a few steps up from my 2010 Evora. Going to keep the Evora for a while ( maybe longterm ) and see which I prefer. If I do part with my Evora that I have owned for 12 years I will advertise it here first. Should be an interesting comparison.16 points

JENNIFER : LATEST UPDATE I had originally intended to post this over a week ago when a 'landmark event' was first witnessed but I then thought it best to hold-off until I was sure that I had something truly significant to report rather than what might ultimately prove to be simply a one-off flash-in-the-pan happening. Well, the initial event of last Monday was indeed repeated last Friday and then again today so I now feel it worthy of broadcasting to the world. What is this Earth-shattering piece of news? I'm sure you're all desperate to know. On all 3 occasions, Jennifer spent the entire day without once being in her wheelchair. All her movements around the nursing home throughout the day were on her own 2 pins, assisted by either a zimmer or somebody steadying her arm for balance. I'm not ashamed to admit that when I first saw her up on her feet, my eyes did become just a trifle moist. All those days and weeks of reminding Jennifer of the importance of keeping taking her medication and of keeping getting the maximum nutrition into her, along with all those exercise sessions which were not always met with total enthusiasm if she was having an 'off day', have now paid dividends. She kept saying that she wanted out of the wheelchair and now her dogged determination has produced the result we all wanted to see. I just need to rein her in a bit now. When I was in this afternoon, they were playing Scottish country music in the background and Jennifer suddenly announced that she wanted to get up and dance. Whoa there girl! Little steps, little steps.15 points

I will start this one off. Not just because my father was Project Manager but because it is, without doubt, the most beautiful car I have ever seen. From it's sweeping lines to the Studded body panels (no welding here) I think it is without a doubt, stunning. Please take a sec to listen to MJK talking about it, especially towards the end when he talks about the G he suffered while trying to take notes.13 points

So I have now collected my GT430 and driven it for about 200 miles. What a difference to a "normal" Evora! I loved my NA Evora; it was like a puppy; always happy and playful but maybe not fully developed. The GT410 was what the puppy became when it grew up; a working-line Labrador, brilliant at everything and wonderful to live with. The 430 though; it is like I've taken delivery of a pet cheetah that's permanently "hangry" . The engine is angrier (the pick-up is amazing at all revs), the steering is immediate (is the wheel smaller, or does it just feel that way?), the ride is a bit stiffer but again it does that fabulous Lotus thing of improving with speed, the turn-in is amazing and the grip.....oh wow. It feels much, much quicker than the 410 on acceleration and corners bring out the g-monster in me. It just feels so special; much more of a race-car, but amazing on-road as well. Maybe this is why guys wax lyrical about GT3s? I don't know (never had one), but goodness me the 430 is much more than just a halo car; it's a helluva car! I'm blown away by how different it is to both my previous Evoras, but also how much better it is, too; incredible. As you rightly described it on your excellent YouTube buying guide Dr P: "a masterpiece".13 points

Singapore National Day classic car meeting today. Good turnout. I was chatting with a few of the local 911 guys. First thing they asked me if the esprit is reliable.. well, turns out that their 88’ onward cars had 2 or respectively 3 engine rebuilds. My 83’ LTE is still on its original engine and running strong, bulletproof. So much for reputation 🤦🏻♂️…13 points

The original 900 Series Engine Block & Cylinder Head castings were produced by Aeroplane & Motor in Birmingham eventually part of the AE Group. Both were from Die Cast tooling. In the Mid 1980s Lotus was informed by AE were terminating production of these Die Cast components. A new source had to be found for the Block & Head. The original Die Cast Tooling had to be discarded. The new source was Zeus Aluminium Products (ZAP) who produced new Sand Cast tooling. Cant remember the exact location but from memory (nearly 40 years ago!) it was in Dudley. Both the Block & Head were redrawn to incorporate improved design features. The Zeus components can be identified by a 'Lotus Logo' on the casting.13 points

Last weekend we did the Gentlemen Drivers Rally in the Ardennes. I was there with my Excel, running tech support for the entire group so could use all the storage available. There was one other Lotus, an Esprit, and much to my surprise just after starting the Saturday run I saw it parked on the side of the road. I feared he had trouble, but then noticed another one next to it! I had to squint a few times, but was sure I didn't had that much to drink the night before. Sure enough, the other Esprit had seen him, followed for a bit and then they both pulled over for a quick chat and some pictures. I do hope the guy gets in touch, I gave him my card and told him I'd post on here. Great weekend, both Lotus performed excellent!13 points
