  1. Count me in although getting it right with the gold thread won’t be easy 👍🏻
  2. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Lotus-Essex-Esprit-Travel-Bag-/133657521711?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292 Can’t be many of these about and for sale on ebay 😁 Dave
  3. Still not sure I’m going blue as never seen one and photos always make it look like quite a dull colour. Matt Watts blue S2.2 was a really nice shade of blue and I did like. Lagoon blue just doesn’t quite do it although this could be just poor photographs. I will get the paint shop to do me a test strip then decide after. This blue looks better but more a royal blue I think? I think Red and Marcasite will be the way Paul goes which will look really smart and not many red ones about these days. Dave
  4. Paul This is going to be a fantastic journey saving possibly one of the biggest S1 projects I’ve seen other than a fire car. It makes mine look pretty simple but with everyone’s help should be a stunner like your white car. My vote is red everyday but I have a thing for red S1’s as you know. The body is certainly more hacked than I thought and we have been talking offline so that’s going to present a few challenges along the way but all fixable. The chassis looks excellent so that’s a massive bonus and being a matching number car definitely makes the project worth that extra effort. The parts are out there hiding in peoples garages and come in handy stock so it will all come together in time. Looking forward to seeing that body come off so a full assessment can be done then the rather costly parts orders can commence. Good luck Dave
  5. I’m down your way in Plymouth if you need any help, what colour is yours?
  6. Yes the JEX plates were Norfolk cars and as Lex said it was ex-Lotus company car and spent some time in engineering as their development car, the engineering team described it as one of the most balanced cars they had at the time getting lots of attention. SWLC looked after it and said it was a good car. Dave
  7. Come on Barry spill the beans..? Something cool? Dave
  8. 😂 I don’t even know who she is Stephen 😊
  9. Development Essex 002 also seen in the Lena clip I posted earlier 😍 Dave
  10. Welcome back Andrew and well done for keeping the car with all your travels, now that is a true Esprit love affair 👍🏻👍🏻 Dave
  11. Looks like you put your car in the middle of a jigsaw image 😁
  12. Excellent Richard, I knew they would get identified on here, it must have been a nice example or I wouldn’t have photographed it 😉 Dave
  13. I was chatting to Matt Watts about preservation on Esprits earlier last week Fabian, I was just saying the ice cold weather caused condensation on my JPS and some of the new plated bolts have gone slightly cloudy. Things aren’t made like they used to be, he coats all his fastenings in a form of hand paint lacquer. I can find out which brand but he swears by it. Like you the painted stuff out lasts other items so I’m going to revisit mine and paint my fastenings I think. They need to be used but also maintained so you can enjoy knowing your investment isn’t disappearing beneath you. 👍🏻 Dave
  14. The scavenge pump failed Lex seizing the engine at near top end speeds, one of the crew had to remain with the car when everyone left and await a recovery truck from the U.K. The engine was ruined so yes totally agree that must of been the V8 development car there after. Check out the first 5 seconds of this clip and see if anyone can guess the number? 😂 Dave
  15. Good stuff Fabian, it’s this attention to detail which sets apart a good car from an excellent one on the road. 👍🏻 Dave
  16. A couple of the pre production Essex cars at Le-mans where one blew its engine during testing. Rare to see them both together like. Dave
  17. This is unfortunate and clearly this individual should not own a classic car, you did him a good deal and sold as seen is just that. A regular classic owner would now welcome the chance to get his hands dirty and start improving the car he saved nearly £500 on the asking price. I would ignore him and let him do his worst, frustrating but these people are out there 🤬 Good luck getting it sorted Barry Dave
  18. I think GCF may have had a roof at some point as full of filler where the Cant rails were blended in. I can’t confirm but like you said probably a different car, shame you never see bronze ones now as I really like them. Dave
  19. GCF had several previous plates and the new keeper is on here with all its history, doesn’t sound like it’s your fathers car but was bronze then painted red. I don’t recall it having gold wheels mind. Dave
  20. Any they say the classic car market is slowing down 😂 £6500 already with 6 days to go! 😲 The damaged S3 Esprit went for £13600 which was way past my expectations so looks like we are hitting a boom! Mind what goes up always comes down eventually so interesting times. Ive watched Mini’s hitting really big figures over the past couple months as well. Dave
  21. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea but you have to admire peoples vision and from what you can see from the photos that body shell is excellent GRP work. You certainly couldn’t build one for that money so someone’s going to buy an interesting project and pretty dawn fun end result 👍🏻 Dave
