  1. For me I found that the issue wasn't the seats themselves in the 410, although I don't think they're as good as their looks suggest, but the angle at which they are fixed. As stated above, they really are very upright, too upright, and there is nothing you can do to adjust them if they don't suit you. With being fixed backs, I think they need to be a lot more reclined to be comfortable for the majority. I had a Cayman R with fixed-back carbon seats and had a similar issue although it wasn't anywhere near as bad a position as with the 410 seats. The newer 'lightweight' buckets that Porsche do are much, much better for me but I know others do struggle with them. So I suppose the moral of the story is that the only way to keep everyone happy is to have adjustable seats
  2. Have I stumbled on the playground? He had his views and opinions (not that I necessarily shared them), but I don't think anything he said justified abuse nor the threat of a ban.

  4. Do you know if these sit you lower, either by virtue of different design or different mount? I've come to the sad conclusion that the 400 with the Sparco seats is a non-starter for me but would like to investigate other options
  5. Other than the seats, was there anything else you weren't happy with? I had another sit in one at Oakmere yesterday and have come to the conclusion that the seat is just too high for me as my head brushes the roof where it curves down towards the window. However, looking at the seat runner I'm sure 'something could be done'. Bearing that in mind, what made you not persue swapping the seats for the Recaros?

  7. My S2 Elise was Burnt Orange and I absolutely loved it. I saw it on an Evora though and it didn't have quite the same impact
  8. NT (customer dis-service) was a **** when I had a problem with my Elise. Don't hold your breath...

  10. Yep, Volcano Orange and Volcano Red. A chap on the playground a while back bought an Evora S, fitted GTN parts and painted it Volcano Orange - he was going to go with VR until I pointed him at the VO. I had a brief drive in it - what a lovely car and a helluva paint job. The picture doesn't really do the colour justice
  11. Astons don't do it for me I'm afraid. Others love them and I respect their choice but they leave me a bit cold. Don't know why because they do sound great, but for whatever reason I don't "get" them I know what you mean about the McLaren options list but it is possible to keep it low - just pretend it's a Lotus! Not driven a 400 yet and hence why I say I'm disappointed to read about issues that would bother me and that I'd need some time in a car before I'd hand over the cash
  12. Comparing? To a point. Basically, this time next year I will have built my house and will be getting a new car. I've always wanted a Ferarri, Lamborghini etc and this was the opportunity. I'm also getting older so I suppose there is a bit of now or never in there. Anyway, the 570S/540C came out and my head was turned - this was exactly what I was looking for! But then there's a problem. Ideally I want to use it every day and put "miles" on it but I'm not sure I'd be happy putting 50k miles on one over the next 4 years or so. So then I start looking at the alternatives. If the 540/570 are out, then what fits the bill? It has to be cheaper and something I've not had before. I've had 5 Porsches, so not one of them. R8 maybe but I've been in my ex-boss's and wasn't that impressed really. I'll never be old enough for an Aston either. So now I'm struggling, but I do love my Elise! So, an Evora? Well, I'm not totally sold on the looks, but it is different, goes and steers well and is sufficiently cheaper than the Maccas. But it still has to do what a £75k car should, and that includes not annoying me. Rattles, from whatever source, really, really annoy me. I'd be happy to get an Evora still, but it would have to be free from silly annoyances - non-silly ones I can live with!!! And basically that's it. If the Evora can't do what I want then I am struggling to see past the 540 at the minute - even at 75k vs 130k. There might not seem much logic to the above but then this is nothing to do with logic - I don't NEED a car like this, I just WANT one!
  13. This is quite disappointing, especially coming from someone I know to be a 'Lotus guy' - your S1 is my absolute favourite Elise, Steve (more pics please)! My current plan is to get a 400 early next year but stuff like this really puts me off - I certainly wouldn't spec a new car (which was the idea) and I'd insist on a day with the car first just to be sure it didn't suffer from issues like this. Maybe getting the McLaren would be the better option after all...

Disinterested salesman (well, disinterested in me although it seems he'd found something that had piqued his interest on the internet), car still there, scuff on bonnet still present, but... the price has changed... £74k!!! When I said it looked as though they were an appreciating classic his face hit the floor
  17. No, it's almost in perfect condition.There are just one or two very minor things that should have been sorted before it was put in the showroom. An hour or so in the workshop and it would be as-new
  18. Probably no more than an hour. As I said, very minor things so I'm very disappointed that they've not bothered. When I bought my Elise from them a few years back the prep was pretty crap (and when I mentioned it to them there was little more than a shrug of the shoulders) so I can only assume it's not something they think is important
