  1. New ad from Mercedes... this time official In my opinion one of the best ads in last few years http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLwML2PagbY

    My Mondeo Mk3

    2003 Ford Mondeo, 1.8 16V petrol engine. :)
  4. Great choice IMO We also have 1.0 Yaris and we have no problems at all with it. And believe me - engine is WAY better than some 1.2 engines on the market (even if we're talking about torque). The interesting thing is, that after facelifting (2003) those cars have 3 BHP less power (and over 1 sec. longer acceleration to 60 mph), due to environmental considerations... But it's still way better than actual model - over 15 seconds in 0-60 mph acceleration Merry Christmas!
  5. Maybe Croatia? Rovinj is a beautiful city (I can send some photos if you want), but there's a problem - the nearest airport (for example in Pula) is at least 35 km from Rovinj. I also really can't say anything about hotels, because we were in guest house. But if you check maps.google.com and type "Rovinj", you can read there some opinions about hotels. One tip: most beaches aren't sandy - they are... hm, don't know how to say it. Rocky? Stony? Anyway, it's recommended to have special "shoes", something like this: http://img.bazarek.pl/111894/9319/586917/12687936544ae85967ce2fc.jpg - also because of sea urchins.
  6. Yup, I know, just wanted to give any possible details to let you know, that I'm not only waiting for your replies Thank you for your opinion about Ford vs. Proton
  7. I'm sorry for the double-post, but just wanted to add something (as you know, post editing is inactive after some time). I've registered on Official Satria GTI Club (it's the only Satria GTI Club I've found, and it't Malaysian), and the problem is like that: I haven't received validation email, and after few days my account was deleted. So, today, I've registered again (with other email address), but the validation email hasn't come... again. I've checked the members list. And you know what? EVERYBODY from 16th Sep has "Validating" status, older accounts are deleted. The last "accepted" account was registered in... March What is more, validating users can't even send PM or email to other users! And I'm sure, that in few days my account (and many other) will be deleted... again -.- I was really angry... and the problem is, that, as I said, it's THE ONLY Satria/318 GTI forum Maybe some of you have friends, who're driving this Proton or know, who can help me? I just want to ask about some parts (mostly suspension parts). Also, I'll be very grateful for more opinions in "poll": Mondeo vs. Proton As I said, Mondeo could have engine in better condition, but it has made 120.000 kilometres mileage on Polish roads, so it's pretty similar to >200.000 km mileage on for example German roads, so Proton is possible to have suspension in better condition (and probably also cheaper to repair, because it doesn't have multilink rear suspension). Peter
  8. Those S3 Esprits from AutoArt are great, I'm looking for them on eBay, but it's almost impossible to buy them in MIB condition, or to buy them in good price (production of those models have ended some time ago). Great collections!
  9. Paul, maybe you'll come also to Cracov? I'm studying there And Wawel Royal Castle is really worth to see And about many stunning architecture and stunning women in Poland - true! Poland is known as country, where live really beautiful women But, for car's owner, there are 3 big problems in our country: - horrible roads (often highly damaged) - but I must say, that even if roads contain many "black holes" it has better tarmac than, for example, Croatia (there the tarmac is in really good condition, but also really slippery, especially when it's raining) - expensive petrol (and I suggest to gas up only on known gas stations, such as BP, Shell, or local stations Orlen, Bliska) - some impolite drivers (be REALLY careful when you see small vans, such as VW Caddy, but also van versions of Focus, Fiesta etc.; their drivers really often are going too fast - they're almost always late ) The problem is, that Cracov is quite far from Warsaw...
  10. Thank you for your reply! Even it is not a "Satria GTI Club Forum" (maybe I'll register there in few weeks/months), you helped me much faster than... guys on polish biggest Mitsubishi Club Forum (which also has separate section for Proton and Hyundai). Also, your help is really invaluable (hope it's the correct word, I'm using internet dictionary ). Of course, my dad isn't wanted by local police And the car rarely reaches 4000 rpms (5000-5500 - reeeeeaaally rarely). But on the other hand, it has 120.000 kilometres mileage on polish roads (one of the worst in Europe...), so it's similar to 240.000 kilometres on german roads And almost all Proton's which I've seen on www.mobile.de are looking really nice, and it isn't a big problem to check engine condition before buy I'll for sure consider your opinion, one more time thank you very much Peter
  11. I'm sorry for posting so long after the last post in this topic, but I think, that it's better to post like this, than make second, almost identical topic Here's my 1:18 collection (I have also some 1:24, 1:43 and other, but I like 1:18 the most): Bburago models: 1. Alpine A110 1600S Tour de Corse 2. Dodge Viper GTS Coupe 3. Ferrari 550 Maranello 4. 1961 Porsche 356B 1600 Cabriolet 5. Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet (993) 6. Porsche 911 Carrera 4 (996) 7. Shelby Series 1 8. Volkswagen New Beetle Maisto models: 1. Aston Martin DB7 Vantage 2. Audi R8 3. Audi Supersportwagen "Rosemeyer" 4. BMW Z4 5. 12. Hello everyone! I'm not as keen on car's technics as I should be so I have a question. The Proton 318 GTI (LHD version; RHD is known as Satria GTI) has suspension tuned by Lotus. But, the car itself is almost the same as Mitsubishi Colt GTI 1.8 (there was also Colt GTI 1.6; Proton GTI has always 1.8). There is a possibility, that I will have this car as my first one (the Yaris you see under my nickname is my mother's car) in 1 or 2 years from now (well, this Proton is my dream for now, I'll wait for "real" Lotus "few" years longer ), and I know, that most parts (engine, gearbox and other) is available in my country (in Poland there aren't any Proton dealers), apart from body kit (but I'm not going to crash the car, so I hope that I won't need new bodykit ). The question is... SUSPENSION. I don't really know, how to understand "handling by Lotus". Does Proton have exactly the same suspension parts as Mitsubishi, only "settings" are different? Could I use for suspension Colt GTI parts, or it would ruin (well, maybe not ruin, but decrease) car's grip and stability? If you don't know answer for that question, maybe you could help me with finding an email address (from Lotus or Proton), where I could get an answer? I have also another question. My dad wants to change his '03 Mondeo (pre-FL) 1.8 16V 125PS to the new one, and there's possibility, that I could get the 2003 one. I really like this car, but... I have really really big dilemma, what would be better for me: Mondeo (>120.000 kilometres mileage) or 2000 Proton GTI (<100.000 mileage)? It would be much easier to choose, if the Mondeo would be in perfect condition, but it really needs rims sand-blasting and re-painting (we have only one set of rims, they're aluminium), I should also buy steel rims (for winter tires), new spark plugs and high-voltage wires (sorry, don't know their english name... ), so... what would you choose, if you were I? Of course, I know our Mondeo quite good and it's muuuuuuuuch bigger than Proton, and handles great as well... I would be very grateful for all support! Oh, and I'm sorry for all mistakes I made above Thank you! EDIT: If it would help you to help me here is Proton's and Mondeo equipment: - air conditioning (Proton - semi-automatic; Ford - full-automatic) - ABS - airbags (2x in Proton, 4x in Ford) - radio (with CD player in Proton, with casette player in Ford ) - this isn't a problem for me - 1.8l engine (135PS in Proton, 125PS in Ford) - this isn't so important, I'm not driving 100 mph+ in the city For me even 1.0 16V from Yaris is quite adequate (0-60 mph acceleration time is impressive for 1.0 engine; under 13 seconds in brochure) - I like Proton not because the engine, but because it's tuned up by Lotus and I really like its design - 5 gear manual gearbox (both)
