  1. I don’t think the extra panel actually secured the roof, it just tidies up the inside. I’ve never not fitted it to my roof though.
  2. I will be going. I hear bilster berg are asking too much this year so that might not be one the cards ☹️
  3. Thanks for some insider knowledge. Do you track the car often? If so, has it been a problem??
  4. Having started this thread and since driven a new 250 cup I can’t see it being a problem in track. I’m still unsure whether to fit a larger fuel tank to my v6 or get a cup for a year and store my v6. If I’m buying one for a year it wouldn’t be a new one - I was considering buying a new 250 as a keeper. no decision made yet. edit: they are both great cars
  5. Don’t joke, I am considering storing my exige for a year whilst I play with an Elise cup!
  6. Yes they are very expensive. I like the idea of carbon sills and heating surrounds just to make the cockpit feel different. But the external carbon is very nice, little worried on how much it lasts.
  7. Damn it, I’ve been talking myself out of a cup and keeping my exige, this doesn’t help. what carbon mods do you have ?
  8. I just hope I remember correctly and he fitted some in the end.
  9. I've seen an Exige V6 lifted off the ground just using 2 jacks (plus 1 person counter-balancing the engine - wheel swap) so I'd think the solution with the rears on the blocks would be ok. I'd be worried at how well the rear bar used to lift the rears balances as it doesn't look very wide - but if it's in the correct places (I have no idea about the rear points) it should be ok. Also, I think the wooden blocks are no necessary if you buy yourself a low-profile jack. PS: I'm no expert! I jack my car a side at a time.
  10. I owned an Exige Sprint (240PP) for 5 years before getting the V6. Great car but was feeling a little worn, don’t feel I could replace my v6 with one. I’m also wondering how many more drivers cars are coming out of lotus and is securing the last Elise cup a worthy trophy
  11. Your 2p is worth a lot to me - your findings are very much aligned with my thoughts - thank you. I've decided that I'm not going to use the car much over the winter so I'll make a decision in the new year. My options are: swap the V6 for a brand spanking new 250 Cup (one of the last great cars from Lotus), keep the V6 and fit a larger fuel tank and keep it, store the V6 and buy a 2nd hand 250 and run that for a year and then maybe sell one of them later.
  12. I’m really thinking of this for track. I know my lap times will be quicker in the exige but I was hoping I’d have more fun in the elise.
  13. That’s good to know. What would you recommend? I’ve had the v6 for 5 years now, I think it’s a compliment to the v that the brakes are so good rather that the Elise being bad. for sure the Elise can eat up the miles across Europe in the same way my s2 exige or my VX220 did but the large v6 feels more relaxed. Maybe this is down to fewer rattles or just progress I don’t know but I worry the Elise will be too alive. That v6 can just chug along the roads without noticing. my head is saying keep the v6, is fantastic and I cannot ask for more. My heart is saying get an Elise cup for fun. My heart is also saying don’t get rid of the v6. ♥️
  14. Nice the meet you at Newlands Corner Nathan - to elaborate on my drive of the 250 Cup. Roads were busy with Sunday drivers and MAMILs but when I found a few open roads the Elise was good fun. Really feel that it's a car you can have fun in without needing to be going crazy speeds. The carbon seats were surprisingly more comfortable than my leather ones (maybe because mine are heated?) and the are set so that wearing a helmet will be good too. Driving it I didn't miss the V6, the steering when pressing on was fantastic, clutch was light, gear change was great (4th-2nd was not quite as sweet) the exhaust was noisy but I have to say the brakes were appalling. For me the 4 pot standard exige brakes are spot on, great feel incredible stopping power (I notice this a lot on track gaining so much ground under braking). Normal road driving I couldn't tell the difference. On track I think that the 250 Cup will be a great laugh, just can it compete with the larger Exige for longer European trips or will it become tiring? However, when I got back in my Exige and put my foot down it was like I engaged warp drive - man these V6 exiges have some push. Can I live without the Exige/V6 for "just" an Elise, I'm not sure. But I've owned Exiges for the past 10 years so I a change might be good but I can't think of anything other than a Lotus. Maybe the Elise Cup ticks that box, wonder how it's for long euro trips. My other option is to fit a larger fuel tank to the V6, will be the cheaper option! - was surprised that after an hour I hardly saw the Elise fuel gauge move!
  15. Sorry if I wasn't clear, it's tomorrow, I'll let you know. Ok to be fair, the tank wasn't full to empty in a 20 minute session, however from full down I used more than 50% which meant that if I didn't refill I would have short session or be watching the fuel gauge. Circuit was Oulton park.
  16. Very true, however, filling up after every 20 minute track session gets very wearing.
  17. Thanks @Nathan Pitman for your repsonse, the Exige drinks just as much as the Evora (one of the reasons I'm thinking of switching) on track it is just a pretolholic! I'll see tomorrow how much I miss the sounds and power of the V.
  18. Are you not happy with the Elise Cup? I'm heading over this weekend to drive the 250 Cup.
  19. Thanks but none of the posts state the colour 😕
  20. Just half-pop the front access, it will beep every time 😂
  21. No can do, I have to make my choice - but what a choice to make! Toxic Green, Fire Red, Liquid Yellow - it's a tough call.
  22. Afraid not. I’ve got a test drive booked at the weekend (will go after newlands corner meet) and see what I think. Trouble is I really love the v6 but the appeal of a light car is there. will se what is on offer and what options are available / prices. Also colours! Really tempted with a bright colour to accent the black bits but am I that bold??
