  1. hmmm...And they have 116 set left... I gess they didnt maked as many non c/c car as they bought pistons to. And this pistons/liners will fit all the 1987 and newer 2,2 turbo cars,,But there is a difference compare to the charge cooled cars. This pistons have a shorter gudgeon/crosspin in the pistons and are not coated/chromed.
  2. Did pic up the part list, and its for the non charge cooled turbo. Its actually the same as in my car..and then its Mahle..the best there is.. And in the part list its a set of 4 on that part number. Can some with inside info comfirm this is a set with 4?
  3. Hi. Is this a set of 4 piston/liners or 1? List price on
  4. I did post this earlier in the tread: This is gona be a serios engine..no question about that. What gearbox mod are you gona use? Are you gona use a aftermarked ECU? And a purpose build engine like yours is gona be usable with 600bhp+ for track use.May be not for 24hour,,but who knows? When Lotus raced 24h LeMans the engine lased 9h and 16hour before headgasked failure do to heatsoak when in the pit.And your engine parts are tested to withstand 900bhp+. I have maxed out my engine with a 3076 turbo with racefuel (1,65bar of boost and hige timing) on a stock crank, pistons, rods and crank.May be 480-530bhp, so you will be more than fine with 500bhp on your engine. It looks like the biggest problem is the headgasked problem do the the stock liners.Witch is more than solved in your engine now. I belive this is what we all should have done...you can probably stay flatout on the autobahn for a long time now
  5. Why not go for brand new liners? Lotus sold this for a low money earlier.
  6. Al. Is the tubes in smaller diameter since you get faster spoolup? If so its a good idea sinse the biggest restrictions is always the turbine section. And the stock exhaustmanifoil is not the restrictive part even at 500bhp.. For 3-400bhp this manifoil might be perfect?? But I think you need 1 more bracing to support the turbo. The stainless steel cracks easy.. I would have made 1 from the gearbox/engine and up to the turbine outlet.
  7. "Different stokes for different folks" Even if I had 6-700bhp it would probably not be enough after some driving... http://www.autoscout24.de/Details.aspx?id=bd4vtdtvx1fo There is some cars in both autoscout and mobile if you prefer LHD. I would have bougt a S4 or S4s, or a 99 GT3 because of the new interior. http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/c...mp;max_mileage= Nice GT3 with the new type interior.
  8. Its like having other peoples opinion of what women you likes...you have to find out that by yourself..haha.. Anyway if its ok with 240bhp for you, then go with the GT3...if not go for the V8... Keep it simple, then its easier to deside.
  9. That crank is pretty big heavy... Its probably why this stock cast crank can take 500bhp... I asked a buddy who work with ourhauling engines/restroking cranks and he sayd that was the most solid 4 pot cast crank he had ever seen.He sayd that he would think something else would lett go before that crank would snap. Ligher pistons and rods will also help to get less stress on that crank. So you will be goog.. But as I have mention earlier this engines weakest point is the loose liners and zero suport/open deck. I belive we might can get 600bhp out of this engine with out spending big bucks on it....Nobody knows...since nobody have tryed...I know this forged Malhe pistons is used in other type engines up to 800bhp. And we know that Garry have got 850-1000bhp with the new blockcastings.
  10. I have been on only one F1 race in my life and can only remeber how they wonna suck money out of your pocket. This is not a sport anymore its pure business.Or may be 5% sport at max..
  11. esprits4de. Hi havent reply on my toughts obout liners.May be he is aiming for 350-400hp?? I dont know. Closed deck is by far the best solution but require a lot of more advanced work. Block, liners and the frame need to be CNC milled togetter to fit 100% or doing this by hand...is loads of work. This solution is for +400bhp in race environment..And probably not needet before 500-550bhp in a road car. We need some feedback from Artie what his hp goal is..
  12. Its heck lot of people on this forum looking at this shit?? I gess its the reason for not being able to run in USA? Probably the biggest motorsport country in the world. F1 is doing strange things on regular basis. I was a huge F1 fan earlier....The time when Mika Hakkinen use to win...
  13. When I bought mine it hadnt been in use for a long time and the wastgate was stuck and corrodet fast. Needet to put WD40 on it to get loose. If you disconect the wategate arm,it should move easily. Can be several other things: -hole in the lines/ bad conections with airleak. -broken wastgate clock. -el.solenoid Put a new line direct between turbo and wastgate and test.his should give you 0,5bar or 7,5 psi boost.
  14. Why not put in cast iron liners? Custom build with aprox 8/100mm bigger so you have to heat up the block to squise they down. That will solve headgasked problem forever. Or use stock iron liners from G cars? Or use Iron liners from QED. My stock liners had moved and I could see on the alu witch was black that this had happend. There should be some cheap stock lines around now to get a hold of if you stay with them. If you put in lighter pistons and rods (i gess you do) the force on the liners will be redused and headgasked will survive better. My experience says that the very bigest problem is to get the headgasked to last with hige hp heavy load (track use). The other parts in this engine seams to be very strong and I think the crank might be the next problem. It looks like this engine will survive up to 450-500 bhp with stock parts and getting the headgasked to last. If we gona use it for 24h race or long speedrun we need a lot more mods to it. I never run more than 7-12min on the track at the time and never use 5th gear..,let everyting cool down and then go out again. To get this engine/gearbox to last at 500bhp we need to have good mechanical feeling and knowledge of whats the weakest links. Nice thing with the Esprit is that it have masive potensial with the right mods. And even a quick car in stock condition.
  15. Here is a article I made about the my solution: http://www.lotusespritforum.com/forums/ind...ticle&id=39 I have tryed cobberheadgasked without luck.I gess we need to O-ring the liners to get it last then..
  16. Hi Artie.. Whats mods are you doing now? Did you get aware of my cheep headgasked mods?
  17. My plan is to put this Esprit more back to a street car and delite the rear aircooled IC i have in it now and put a Watercooled IC (CC) on it.Take a look on the link in the signature.. My plan is then to put the new CC in the right side of the engine bay and make a new entry of the plenum and reruting of the tubes.. The easier way is to use the stock one or get a bigger aftermarked one in the stock location. And get the SE front cooler system. HMMM...I see... you have bought the one on the pic? I would have cut of on the end tank and reweldet it 180 degree around so its like the stock SE. Easiest is to use a complete ic and plenum from a SE..
  18. Thanks for the info folks. I have send a mail to Mike Haynes about this,,may be he will answear. Does any have more info about race Esprits?
  19. I have a plan to come down to UK and take a look at a Race Esprit or 2.. And my plan is to build a proper race Esprit to do circuit racing with. I have tryed to contact Mike Sekinger but with out luck ( who was adverising this car earlier). Its not the GT1 replica I`m interesting...Its the real GT1 car. Is there any that knows where the orign Esprit GT1 car is located or who I need to contact? I was very interested to take a look on this GT1 car because of my plans...If possible..
  20. Calibra 450bhp and mk1 Mr 2 400bhp... Its my best buddy with the Mr2....and me that have tuned/mapped the engine...good that I at least beat this gays.... That Mr2 have a incredible stong gearbox and weights only 1000kg/2200lbs...so the 60ft is very fast on street tyres.
  21. Have some sound from the brakes..the front disc was warped. Also doing a "streetdrag"..
  22. This is gona be a serios engine..no question about that. What gearbox mod are you gona use? 24. This track is 3753m and I have 137km/h in avarage speed.Having litle bit above 200kmh 3 places on the track. Did got the brake/vehicle balance better that weekend so it was going 3 sec faster/lap and did set a new personal record with 1.38,7 and won the Time attack later that weekend. This video was under a show race. There are several full racecars (GT) that wasent on the track this time. And some of them barley drive faster than me with 600-800bhp cars...I think they are mad at me since my street car is as fast as theyr
