  1. Shiny new Amp and Sub fitted, Kicker CompRT mated to a KX400.1 Amp. Amp was slightly to big to easily fit beside the sub, I couldn't be bothered to built a custom mount, so fitted it into the boot instead. I'm still tuning the system, but sounds amazing. Tris...
  2. Ohhhh Carbon Fibre, we like CF, where did you order them from, what sort of price are we talking? Thanks for the responses guys, I'd forgotten I'd posted this. Tris...
  3. Have you tried practicing Clutchless shifts? Does involve a lot of practice, but on Down shifts you are forced to blip the engine to get the Revs/Gear match up. Makes for smoother shifts and with a bit practice can mean that apart from starting in first gear, you never have to use the clutch. Which given the stated replacement point for Evora clutches is probably a good thing... For down shifts I have noticed on my NA unless you are in Sport Mode the revs don't instantly climb. Which is causing me a bit of challenge and missed shifts at the moment. Upshifts are a lot easier, just about got those suss'd now. Still practice makes perfect. Or a knackered gear box I suppose. :-/ Tris... Tris...
  4. Have you considered jump starting the car to make sure there is nothing more serious. At least then you will know the car itself is running properly. Tris...
  5. Flat battery? I've accidentally flatten mine a couple of times working on the ICE. Very similar symptoms. Tris...
  6. Does anyone know what the second power lead on the positive battery terminal on a Launch Edition is for? Has what looks like a 150amp fuse box attached to it. Logically it would be for a Sub Amp, but given the standard Lotus amp is so puny, and this lead doesn't go anywhere near the Amp I'm trying to figure out what it could be for, it is the same guage as the primary Battery Feed. Fitting a new Sub and Amp so need to run a new power lead and I'm just wondering whether I can get rid of this other lead. Thanks Tris...
  7. Hi, noticed yesterday that the Black external A-Pillar cover had cracked on the Drivers Side near the top. I'm sure I have seen a discussion about this somewhere but couldn't find it. Presumably I can order a replacement from Lotus or are there nicer after market ones available. Any advice on where to look gratefully received. Tris...
  8. That's scary, My EP-3 Civic Type R did 130,000 miles before the clutch needed to be replaced. Only cost £250 to replace. The mind boggles, don't suppose they mention how long for a N/A Car's clutch? Tris...
  9. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/road-and-rail-transport/11537964/Bentleys-are-the-least-reliable-cars-says-survey.html Not entirely surprisingly they are saying it wasn't a fair comparison.
  10. Did you source the tyres from Williams? I've only recently moved into the area so am trying to build a picture up of who to use and where they are. Tris...
  11. Just had MOT done and the testing garage pointed out that all 4 tyres had different wear patterns, and the alignments could be out. Took it to Pro Tyres in Bristol who very kindly tested the car for free and confirmed that all 4 wheels are pointing in subtly different directions. They quoted £585 to replace all 4 tyres and another £150 to do the Alignments. They said they'd never seen an Evora before so I thought I'd ask whether anyone used them for another car, or is there somewhere else you would recommend in the Bristol/Bath area? Thanks Tris...
  12. So more poking around done. As far I can figure it out for a W-505 with Imprint (And presumably any HU using Imprint), the head unit passes its sound signal to the Imprint via the Ai-Net connector. The Imprint unit is under the Dash on the Passenger side (UK Car). Imprint processes the sound and then outputs it via its own RCA Connectors. They are Split between Front, Rear and Sub W. The fronts go to the Front Input/Output on the Head Unit, and the internal amplifier sends the sound out through the standard wiring loom to the Component Speakers. The Rear outputs are redundant (There are no Rear Speakers) and the outputs are just cable tied out of the way. The Sub is wired up to the Sub-W output from Imprint. So setting the Subwoofer to on, and then using the Subwoofer Level to suit your tastes on the Head Unit, should work for that set up. (Worth setting the Balance to fully to the Rear to shut the Components off if you are unsure whether it is working or not.) My new Components are much better than the old stock ones, the improved bass response on them renders the stock Sub ineffectual. Even turning it up to its max, its effect can't be heard and it is distorting even at a low sound level. Just as well I was planning on upgrading anyway. All I need to do now is figure out where the Sub Woofer leads disappeared to. In true Lotus style, the RCAs just disappear into a Black box embedded in the Chassis and it isn't obvious where they go. Looks like I will need to take the Dash apart again. Tris...
  13. Going to do some more pocking around tomorrow, but have been looking at the Head Unit and Imprint Manuals this evening, and noticed that the RCA Connectors in the back of the HU can act as both input and output. So I might have it the wrong way around, could be they are acting as the input from the Imprint, and the signal is then going out via the standard wiring loom to the Speakers. This would make sense as the wiring for the front speakers looked like it was from the normal head unit wiring. Sub should be run direct from the Imprint unit, according to the wiring Diagrams. Still doesn't explain why the Sub apparently isn't working, but at least I might have a better understanding of how the system is put together. Might just be that the Sub is total [email protected]*p, and the new Components are just blowing it away. As you may have guessed I'm not an Audio professional, this is just a pet project. :-) Tris...
  14. I've been upgrading the Speakers in my Launch Edition (INV-W505 Head Unit), Phase 1was replacing the Components in the front. New speakers are excellent, but highlighted that the Sub wasn't apparently working. So I pulled the Head unit to check it was wired in properly. So the reason that the sub isn't apparently working, is... all the sound is driven through the Front Speakers Pre-Out, including the Sub. Which came as a bit of a surprise, given there is a dedicated Sub Pre-Out. This explains why turning the Sub On in the setup menu doesn't make any difference, and it also probably explains why the Imprint unit actually seems to make the sound worse rather than better. Just as well Phase 2 is to fit a new Sub and Amp system. Just have to wonder why they would wire it up in such a strange way. Tris...
  15. Evening of 26th at about 18:15.
  16. Not having done a Track day in my own car, what do you need in place to be able to do one? Safety gear? Insurance? Castle Combe is just down the road, so could be fun. Tris...
  17. The current buzz phrase around things like this is "Treating Customers Fairly". As a customer should you reasonably expect your transmission to last as long or longer than it already has. Is it fair to expect Lotus to take some responsibility for what has happened to your car? It probably isn't unfair to expect your Transmission on your Lotus maintained car to last longer than it has. So if Lotus were treating you fairly they should probably make some kind of good will gesture. I work for a motoring services company and you wouldn't believe the loops we have to go through to avoid falling fowl of those magic 3 words. Tris...
  18. Thanks for getting back, greatly appreciated. I had the door panel off, but in a fit of stupidity in the dark failed to notice that the reason I couldn't my arm into the door space was...... I had the window wound down. Funnily enough yesterday in the day light noticed that, wound the window up and could get my arm inside the door to retrieve the Anchoring point from the bottom of the door, clean the Sifaflex off it (Which by this time was rock solid and not sticky) And reset it. On the plus side I now have a new set of Speakers, dynamated doors. All I have to do now is get to the Cross Overs, and replace those, so out comes the rest of the Interior... Tris...
  19. Reminder to self, when doing something in the half light and while tired, aways check that you haven't got the window wound down and that isn't what is blocking your access to inside of the door... Does this site do a Donut of the year award? If so I'd like to nominate myself...
  20. How do you get access to the inside? I lost the anchoring point for the door handle in there and need to get in there. Thanks. Tris...
  21. Hi, so there I was happily upgrading my Speakers... doing a bit of Dynamiting etc. All going very well until I was putting the door card back in, I hadn't realised that the fixing point for the bottom main bolt behind the handle, inside the door was only held in place with Sikaflex and Duct tape. Given the car is few years old, the inevitable happened and the anchoring point came loose and has now fallen inside the door moulding. So my question is, is it possible to get into the door mould to get the Anchoring point back out, and put back into place? Or do I need to practice my gynaecology skills? Thanks Tris...

  23. Hi, Been hunting around the Internet for this, what size is the Sub size on a launch edition Evora? It seems to be either 8" or 10". Can anyone confirm which it is. Thanks Tris...
  24. Cruising up the M3, quietly minding my own business in the left hand lane when I noticed a silver golf slowly coming past in the middle lane. Noticed the passenger winding his window down, and lined himself to take a photo of himself with 'Ethel' in the background. I had to laugh.
  25. I have fitted a Dash Cam with impact detector, after being hit the office car park. (Person who hit me owned up fortunately). I'm just trying to figure out how to fit one to the back windscreen as well. Seems the only way to protect against this type of behaviour. Tris...
