  1. Thanks with all the issues I have had with the engine rebuilds 1200 miles and 10 hours in plus 30 degrees gives me confidence its finally sorted.
  2. Car has done over 1200 miles. Operated for 10 hours in 30 degrees to film the above with no issues.
  3. Just completed filming for a youtube video on the Bondvivant channel. Why is it the Turbos and 2 CV are always left out of the Top Gear Bond episodes and all the others? Quick snapshot during a break.
  4. Hi Rolls, good to see your still progressing. That doesn’t look like Marcasite to me. Heres an old post that might help.
  5. Makes no sense to buy a car for full restoration and outsource the work. Better to buy one done and know the full cost when you buy it. I have learned that after my experience with two restorations.
  6. So did I, someone got a good deal if the pictures look as good as the car. Maybe £70k for a S1 is unrealistic? They still seem cheap compared with many lesser cars out there selling for over £100k. I think they should have a much higher profile than they do. Maybe we need to arrange some Lotus meet ups, like the Lotus day at Mercedes Benz world.
  7. As good as when it went on, but it took serious effort to get the application correct. I had to spray each section continuously in metal prep to keep, it wet for 20 mins I seem to remember. This is to etch the metal and thats after all the other prep! I painted the gear selector rod and didn’t prep it with the same attention. The coating started to peel! Unless you are going to apply it absolutely as per the instructions don’t use PoR 15 because it will flake and make a very messy problem!
  8. You can topcoat it to stop uv degradation. Probably not necessary for a chassis but I top coated mine.
  9. Hi Bibs, the company that made me them shut down, so I don’t have anything. If you scan the graphic from the manual and send it to stickers international the6 have Graphic Artists that will copy it and produce decals at a very reasonable cost.
  10. Its only got one more MOT. I may give it a go as is, sometimes the pipe falls out of the exahust!
  11. I was disappointed I hadn’t picked up on the throttle issue, especially considering how many times I have been messing around with the engine. Obvious now to check full throttle movement before connecting the cable! What I was pleased with is the ignition timing and jetting was almost spot on and was all done by me through trial and error. It goes to show if you don’t give up you can achieve good results.
  12. Mmm, thats interesting. It did cross my mind that the throttle could never have worked on my car, as I installed the bracket as it came off - a bit of a mystery! If you buy a project car that hasn’t run in many many years and has been tinkered with these are all the issues you can expect. My advice to anyone is unless you have deep pockets and know these cars well, buy one that has been running. It should have a history of continuous spending, maintenance and check the mot for the miles driven every year. One that has been standing for years and never moved will need a lot of spending and work to bring back to life.
  13. Thanks Dave. Yes, crazy design that you have to bend something out of shape for it to work!
