  1. The New Wilson Audio SabrinaX Speakers Now on Permanent Demo! Hi All, So it is always big news when Wilson Audio launch new speakers, arguably makers of the best speakers in the world, but when it is a new version of the brilliant Sabrina then for me it is even bigger news as the Sabrina is one of my favourite speakers ever. Now I know that I love big speakers but from a design perspective there is something magical about getting a really big and musical sound from a small speaker and for me this is why the Sabrina is so good and loved by so many which is why I am really excited to say that we now have the new SabrinaX on permanent demo. I have been listening to these a fair bit lately and I have to say that in reality no one needs more than a Sabrina, it gives you a huge slice of the bigger Wilson's but in a form factor that will fit most peoples living spaces, whenever I set up a Wilson demo I have to stop and listen longer than I normally would as they are so engaging and musical and the new SabrinaX's really does take the Sabrina design to a whole new level. So what is different? firstly the whole cabinet is made from Wilson's X Material seen in their much higher end models to give a much blacker background, the same tweeter as the Wamm and XVX, the same 8" woofer as the DAW, also the same binding posts and spikes from the XVX + much more, so as you can see Wilson really have gone to town on the SabrinaX to deliver a small speaker with no compromise that sounds so right and really does pull you into the music. Hope I don't sound too enthusiastic but for me the original Sabrina was one of the best speakers ever designed and the new SabrinaX really does take this design to the next level. If you'd like to come in for a listen and any point please feel free to book an appointment. Please find a few pictures of our demo SabrinaX's in the stunning metallic Crimson Red. Cheers, Paul.

  3. Nothing yet mate, will upload once I get it back, hopefully this month 👍
  4. Thanks Andy, the XI has actually now passed it's IVA, just waiting on Westfield to extend the steering rack a little as I bought an original XI steering wheel but it isn't the best fit, can't wait to actually drive it, only had it 3 years 🙄
  5. Hi All, PMC Ci140 Speakers So we've had this week off, what do you do on your week off? Yeah play with new speakers and amps for our home system, a real busman's holiday, first we installed the new Epic PMC Ci140's for rear speakers, they are not exactly small but are the perfect match for our BB5 SE's and really do sound incredible, a huge step up from the PMC Wafer 2's we were using beforehand. I actually wired them up to test for 2 channel and they really are quite incredible, just like having a pair of 25.26's on your wall which is great as up until now I would say there haven't been many on wall solutions that work really well for music and cinema and not everyone wants floor standers in their room so I can see this new Ci Range from PMC being extremely popular for Cinema systems and a more discreet 2 channel system, it really is great to have a real musical on wall solution, good job PMC 👍 Bryston 28B Amplifiers Then it was time for new amps, so owning a pair of Bryston 28B’s has been something on my to do list for the last 10 years+ so once again due to Covid 19 and the attitude of ‘what am I actually waiting for’ I am really pleased to have finally installed a pair to our system at home and I am really happy to say they have really been worth the wait, they have really woken up our PMC Speakers BB5 SE’s, everything has more space, air and separation but also everything feels faster and more rhythmic, Wendy uses Radiohead's ‘How to Disappear Completely’ as her system test track and it threw her a bit last night as it sounded so different from the 7B3’s we were running before, she had never heard separation like this before at home and took her a while to adapt but eventually she really began to appreciate it. Next job are some longer legs to give a bit more ventilation and that will also allow me to add a Bryston BP173 preamp then I think we done with our Covid 2020 upgrades. I should also mention that we put a Solid Steel isolation platform under our REL Acoustics 212/SX Sub and that has really helped tighten up the real low end giving it more depth and impact so that was a really nice little tweak. Right we have really got into Game of Thrones over the last few weeks, only 2 episodes left so time to crank it up and enjoy. 7. Hi All, So way back in January, yes before we knew how Covid was going to change the world, I decided that it would be cool to have a so called resident 'Reference' system in our Highend Room so I placed a load of orders for a lot of Highend kit to create this system, then Covid hit and I thought Bugger as lot of it started to arrive during lockdown and needed paying for, but we are through that now and the system is complete and up and running and sounds incredible and was worth every penny. When it comes to a digital front end then the best in the world has to the the 4 Box dCS Vivaldi system so I am really excited to have this now on permanent demo at the heart of our Reference system, if you go to any Highend show then inevitably it is Vivaldi that is being used, I remember when I went to Dave Wilsons house to hear the Wilson Wamm's he was running Vivaldi with D'Agostino so we have created a mini version running into the Wilson Alexia 2's. So the system basically comes to over £300,000 and comprises of the dCS Vivaldi fed by the Taiko SGM Extreme, I have to say that the Vivaldi system sounded incredible but when we added the Taiko it really did take the Vivaldi to another level, the Extreme really is an incredible digital source, this is then fed into the Audio Research Reference 6 SE Preamp then into either amps from Constellation, D'Agostino, Audio Research or Chord Electronics with their Ultima Mono's, due to weight we keep the Constellation Taurus and D'Agostino Progression Stereo permanently in the rack, these then go to the awesome Wilson Audio Alexia 2's which are underpinned with a REL 212 S/X subwoofer, all connected with Transparent Reference cables with all the kit sitting on Quadraspire X Reference supports. How does it sound? in all honesty incredible, when I first listened to it trying songs I always use to try new kit I got a little emotional as I have been playing these same songs over the years but I can honestly say I had never heard them like this before, it really is incredible, so much insight and tangibility, there is an air of realism I have never heard before with HiFi, it is such a shame that we can't do any open days at the moment to showcase it all but if any of this system is of any interest please feel free to book an appointment to come in for a listen. Being a HiFi enthusiast I already have plans how to take this system to the next level when funds permit, as a lot of people will know speakers are my favourite part of a system, for me they give you the biggest upgrade so I'm definitely eyeing up a bigger pair of Wilson's next year all being well. Please find a few pics below but to be honest as nice as it all looks it can't convey the magical sound quality, one thing is for sure I'm glad I did order it all before Covid hit as I may not have done it with the world we are living in at the moment but I am so glad to now have this system on permanent demo. In order below is the Vivaldi Upsampler, DAC, CD/SACD Transport +Clock. Cheers, Paul.

  9. Hi All, So this is a big one for us, over the years I have always wanted to add Dan D'Agostino to our portfolio, for 2 reasons really, one for the looks, I just think they look beautiful although I am aware that they do divide opinion and also that when it comes to Highend Hifi, especially amplifiers then Dan D'Agostino is up there with the very best and arguably the Relentless Monoblocks, at around £250,000 for a pair, are considered the best on the planet so is it is a great honour to add D'Agostino to our portfolio and finally when building our so called 'Reference System' it didn't seem complete without D'Agostino amplification in the lineup. For those who don't Know Dan D'Agostino was the founder of Krell but in 2011 he moved on to start his own company bearing his name and has really taken amplifier design and to another level creating amplifiers that will drive any speaker on the planet and that look like nothing else. Unfortunately we couldn't afford to start with a pair of Relentless Mono's so have gone with the Progression Stereo Power amp and the Progression Integrated, as soon as funds permit I will also add the Progression Preamp then start looking at the Momentum range. As for sound quality, well for me I find them fast, amazing separation and clarity but always with enough warmth, I remember one demo I did recently with our Wilson Sabrina's using the Progression Stereo amp and I really have never heard them sound better, one thing is for sure if you are looking for a new Highend Amplifier then you really owe it to yourself to give Dan D'Agostino a listen. Please find the range on our website below and a few pics of our new demo models. https://hifilounge.co.uk/product-category/brands/dan-dagostino/

  11. Big Tick On The Bucket List This Weekend! Hi All, So life really is for living in my book and last weekend was a huge tick on the bucket list after spending 3 days racing in our Radical SR1 at Silverstone on the Grand Prix layout, only a few days after the F1 circus left and we had a new HiFi Lounge Livery on the car to celebrate. The event was a Radical invitational so we didn't score any championship points but we joined the back for the Radical SR3 grid and gatecrashed their race weekend really, they are about 15 seconds a lap faster than us so there was no way we were going to be racing them but it meant instead of our normal 2 x 20 mins races we had 2 x 50 minute races with pit stops and also a 20 mins sprint race with a standing start, normally we do rolling starts, it turns out that I love the longer races, you can really settle into a rhythm and on Saturday the car felt particularly good and I did some of my best laps ever in the Radical, my SD card played up but I am hopeful I can upload my quickest lap, LeMans next year Please find a few pictures below of the new Livery and from the race weekend, Brands Hatch GP next, another layout I have never driven before, next year I really do need to give Spa and Nurburgring a go. I'm never going to be the quickest but it isn't through a lack of trying and it certainly feels quick to me. Cheers, Paul.

  13. New REL 212/SX Subwoofer Installed At HFL and at Home! Hi All, So I have been banging on for years how all 2 channel systems benefit from running a dedicated REL Subwoofer to underpin the front left and right speakers and it looks like the word is really getting out there now as we have never demoed and sold so many subwoofers as we have over the last few months, infact REL have seen unprecedented demand so it looks as if Covid has helped people see the light somehow, for me adding a Sub is the best pound for pound upgrade there is to get more from your system. So at home I just installed the new REL 212/SX subwoofer to underpin my PMC BB5 SE’s, now a lot of people would probably think that if you have a speaker with 2 x 15 inch bass drivers there would be no need for a sub but I can assure you once you have heard the difference you would be really amazed as it isn’t all about adding bass, in fact you set the sub to a very low level so it is hardly noticeable but it adds real weight and depth to the bottom end which in really frees up the mid range and adds more depth and width to the soundstage. I became really aware of the importance of good subs for 2 channel when I went to Dave Wilson’s house in Utah to hear the incredible £700,000 Wilson Wamm and they had a sub running with each speaker and that really is a big speaker so if a Wamm needs subs then suley every speaker out there does. For me it is almost a case of any REL sub is better than no sub, in fact I struggle to listen to a system nowadays if there is no sub installed, but it is a little more involved than that but REL offer such a comprehensive range there is something for everyone really and for me it has to be a REL thanks to their Hi-Level connection designed for speed and integration for 2 channel, I won’t go into that here but feel free to give me a shout if you’d like to know more. We have also now installed a 212/SX into our so called new Reference system to work with our Wilson Alexia 2’s, again these are a £65,000 speaker that really do benefit from the addition of the 212/SX, I should also mention that the new Wireless modules from REL really are quite exceptional and actually work better than running the normal Hi-Level cable, it is put down to the fact that the wireless technology is so fast now that it is actually faster than a hard wired cable. If you have still not experienced the benefit of a sub with your 2 Channel system please feel free to book an appointment to give it a try, I know you’ll be impressed. Please find a link to the REL range on our website and a few pics below – https://hifilounge.co.uk/product-category/brands/rel/ REL 212/SX at Home with the PMC BB5 SE’s and At Work with the Wilson Audio

  15. Hi Giorgio, I've been running a Radical SR1 for racing for the last 3 years but I guess their road car setup will be a little different from the race side but they are good guys, you really need to speak to Dominic Lee at Radical, he is their top sales guy and is a good bloke. Very tempted by the Rapture myself to be honest but have a couple of cars on the hit list before then. Any questions feel free to shout. Cheers, Paul.
  16. Full Range of the New PMC Twenty5i Series Speakers now on Demo! Hi Everyone, Just wanted to say that we now have the full range of the new PMC Twenty5i Series speakers on permanent demo, these were announced sometime ago and where due to be with us much sooner than this but obviously a little thing called Covid 19 decided to come along and ruin our fun but the good news is that they are all now here and are sounding excellent. I don't know how they do it but it really sounds like PMC have made even more gains with their Twenty5 range, now on it's 3rd generation, listening to the new 25.23i's there is definitely a more open and airy midrange with a more refined top end, these really are awesome speakers and it is easy to see over our time as a dealer they have been our most popular speaker. Anway if you'd like to come in for a listen anytime please feel free to book an appointment. https://hifilounge.co.uk/product-category/brands/pmc-speakers/twenty5i-series/ Cheers, Paul.

  19. Focal Scala Utopia Evo Speakers Now on Demo, What a Stunner! Hi All, Another day and more new demo stock, this time I have to say this is one of the prettiest speakers we have ever had at HiFi Lounge, the Focal Scala Evo Speakers in the new Noyer Natural Finish, I nearly went for blue but took a gamble on this finish and I'm so glad I did as they really are gorgeous, they look good in the pictures but are even better when seen in the showroom and the great news is that they really do sound as good as they look. So far I have run them with Naim, Chord and Accuphase and all 3 give very different presentations, all great but just very different. Priced at £29,999 they certainly aren't cheap but in all honesty you really could argue they are worth every penny when you see and hear them. If you'd like to come in for a listen anytime please feel free to book an appointment. Cheers, Paul. Focal Utopia Scala Vs Maestro!

  21. Accuphase E-800 Pure Class A Integrated Amplifier now on Demo! Hi All, Just a really quick one to say that we now have the new Accuphase E-800 Pure Class A Integrated amplifier now on Demo, this is my first foray into Class A solid state amplification and I have to say I can see why people like this kind of amplification as it really does give an extremely natural presentation but with great control, it really is very engrossing. The E-800 is basically 50 watts into 8 ohms which at Class A is pretty much enough power to drive any speakers out there, it's certainly not small but if you are looking for an amp to get the best out of your speakers and prefer your HiFi more on the musical side then I would highly recommend giving the E-800 a good listen. Cheers, Paul.

  23. Taiko Audio SGM Extreme Music Server Now On Permanent Demo, This is A Quantum Leap For Digital Music! Hi Everyone, Now I am super excited about this new product we have just taken delivery of for demo. In 8 years of HiFi Lounge I would argue this is the most groundbreaking piece of HiFi we have had through our doors. I’m sure Taiko Audio isn’t a name everyone has heard of but I’m pretty confident they are about to change the digital music landscape with their SGM Extreme, for those who don’t know it is basically a £25,000 Music Server and a Roon Core and End Point all in one rather beautiful chassis, but what I love about it is that it has been designed with a no compromise outlook where it ends up costing what it costs but it will be the very best that is possible today and it really is a Quantum leap for digital music playback. When Taiko was first mentioned to me I really was unaware of them and the rep suggested he bought it in for me to listen to and I’m always happy to try something new but I did tell him upfront that there is no way that I am going to bring on a £25,000 server, I mean who on earth would buy that, and then I heard it and I’m sure you can guess the rest, yep I placed the order there and then and have been waiting patiently and excitedly for the last few months for it to arrive, lockdown couldn’t have come at a worse time. It really isn’t very often we get something ground breaking in this industry, everything is generally a refinement on what has gone before, but I really feel this is something very special and if you have the system to benefit from a Taiko I cannot urge enough that you give it a try, not necessarily to buy one but just to experience how good digital can be, it is amazing in just a few short years we have progressed from using NAS drives and computers for digital storage to the Taiko Extreme which shows it is still early days for digital and we’ve probably still got a long way to go but with products like this it really does take it to another level. It has been said that the SGM Extreme can compete with the best turntables and Reel to Reels out there and at last gives something to people who have struggled moving from analogue to digital, I couldn’t really say but for me it was the air, space and naturalness of the sound it gives that drew me in, it really is totally captivating and it is great that there is a company like Taiko willing to push the boundaries and take digital to the next level. So this is another step towards us putting together our Reference System that I planned out earlier in the year, just one more product to come, well 4 boxes really making up one product, what could it be? Then the listening begins. But really I can’t stress enough please do come in to experience the Taiko, this is not me being a sales man, if you love your music you owe it to yourself to give the Taiko Audio SGM Extreme a listen to hear digital at it’s very best, I really wish we could do an open day this year to showcase the Taiko but obviously that is not possible at the moment but rest assured as soon as we can then this will be one of our first open days. https://hifilounge.co.uk/product-category/brands/taiko-audio/ Cheers, Paul.
