    Hi Everyone,
I’m not really one for blowing my own trumpet but if you’re bored at all there is an article on HiFi Lounge in the summer HiFi Pig magazine, around page 30, please find a link below, talks a bit about our Radical racing also 👍

    Hi All,
For the eagle eyed amongst you some of you hopefully noticed that we have put a direct link to our eBay store on the navigation bar of our new website so I just thought I’d mention this in a quick blog as we do quite a lot of trade ins and some kit is listed on our site under the Ex-Display / Pre-owned section but all of it is listed on eBay, this is updated regularly so please keep an eye out.
So if you are after any new HiFi and have anything to trade in just let me know and I’ll see what I can do, I’d like to think we offer very competitive trade in prices.

    Hi Everyone,
So Valves or Solid State? that is the question that a lot of audiophiles are faced with when looking to buy a new amp or pre-amp, well and now DAC’s thanks to PrimaLuna.
PrimaLuna have always been one of our most popular brands, even people that don’t come in to buy a valve amp are always intrigued to have a listen and in all honesty I have never had one person say that they don’t like the sound, it is impossible to not be cast under the spell of that tube sound so I am really pleased to say that we now have the new PrimaLuna Evo range on demo.
We have normally focused on PrimaLuna’s integrated amps but as we now have a new range it seemed a good opportunity to expand on this so as well as the new Evo 400 Integrated we have also decided to put the Evo 400 power amp and Evo 400 Preamp on demo along with PrimaLuna’s new valve Evo 100 DAC which is a intriguing proposition, can’t wait to have a good listen to that.
So why not come in for a listen to the new PrimaLuna range? just get in touch to book an appointment anytime. You can see the full range of products below -

    Hi Everyone,
The above heading says it all really, we’ve been waiting for this one for quite some time now so I for one am really looking forward to it as the new Planar 8 is an incredible turntable for its price and I’m sure that the new PL10 is going to reset the benchmark to what is possible at this price point.
To go along with the new PL10 Rega are launching the new Apheta 3 MC cartridge which I am guessing most people will be partnering with their PL10, if bought together there is a £350 saving to be made which isn’t to be sniffed at, you an buy a lot of vinyl for £350.

    Rega Open Day!
A quick heads up that our next open day will be a Rega / Vinyl open day on November 23rd so please put it in the diary, we will be showcasing the new Planar 10 plus Chris will be here with his vinyl for sale on the day, this is always popular.
Anyway enough talking, please see a link to the new PL10 on our website, needless to say it will be on permanent demo shortly -

    Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to say a big thanks for everyone who came along to this years Boys Toys Day, we were jammy with the weather again which was a relief. It was a day of 2 halves really with the breakfast car meet at HFL where we had a great selection of Marques again including, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lotus, Porsche, TVR, Mercedes but arguably the star of the show was a 1981 Citroen GSA Special which really was quite unique.

Then around midday many of us departed to Rye House for the Go Karting track action, for once the convoy stayed in line helped by Wendy leading the way, we ended up with 24 karts on track which was great, I hope everyone who joined in didn’t ache too much yesterday, I know I did, and hopefully the people who had blisters on their hands after 1 hour in the kart are on the mend now, it really is pretty physical when you spend an hour in a Kart, it is actually easier to drive the Radical but in the end I everyone seemed to have a great time and appeared to be keen to do it again next year so I can see this becoming a yearly event.

    The Race
    Ready for action!

So how did the race go? Well I got pole which I was very happy about, to be fair I used to race at Rye a fair bit around 20 years ago but it is amazing how it soon comes back to you, the race didn’t go quite as well though as I got punted off on lap 1 so went from first to last in one lap but fought back to third so had some great racing along the way, congratulations to Chris who won and Andy who came second but really a big thanks to everyone who came along and made it so much fun, I’ve got some unfinished business so definitely keen to do it again next year.
    Let’s Go Racing!

Me and Wendy having a chat on track

Thanks again everyone, let’s do it all again next year

    Hi Everyone,
With less that a week to go now till our Boys Toys Day 2019 I thought I’d just write a quick update, the main news is that looking on Accuweahter we are in for a dry and sunny day which really is the main thing, so if you fancy getting your pride and joy out for a late summer blast please feel free to come over to HiFi Lounge from 9am onwards.
We will be here till midday with the BBQ sizzling away with sausage and bacon for breakfast with the demo rooms blasting out some top tunes, then we are off to Rye house in Hoddesdon for some Go Kart Racing action, I just want to say thanks to everyone who has registered to come along racing. So far we are up to 21 of us on track which means there are 5 places left for anyone who is mad enough to join us, the aim was to get 20 Karts on the Grid but it would be really cool if we could get a full grid of 26 so if you’d like to come along please just drop me a line at [email protected]
But to recap, we’ll be having our yearly car meet at HiFi Lounge from 9am till midday then we are off to Rye house to tear up the track with the on track action starting at 2pm, if you don’t fancy the racing part why not come over to Rye House to watch the action, it should be a real spectacle to rival any Grand Prix 😉
Really look forward to seeing everyone on August 31st for a day of cars, HiFi and racing 👍
    Cheers,
    Paul.

    Hi Everyone,
I’m really pleased to announce that our new website is now live, it is well overdue but anyone who has been involved in getting a new site up and running will know that it can be one of the most challenging aspects of running your own business but I want to say a huge thanks to Samuil Vladimirov and his team for doing an epic job, if anyone is looking for any web site work I can highly recommend these guys.
To be fair our old website held up well considering it was designed over 7 years ago, the main idea behind the new site was to keep it as informative as the old site but to bring it bang up to date so it is now mobile friendly and just more useable really.
When we launched HFL we only had 5 brands so just listing the brand names was fine but as HFL has grown the ability to search by category and price became more and more important so that was what created a lot of the work as we now have over 60 brands, wow how did we end up with that many, but now if you are not sure what all the different brands do you can search by category’s such as Digital, Analogue, Amps, Speaker & headphones etc and you can also filter down by price so if you are looking for speakers over £500,000 you can now find them easily 😉
Also on the homepage in true Peter Jackson style is the extended full 2 min director’s cut of the video that Ian Boyle at IDB Creative did for us.
Anyway please have a look round, there are still a few tweaks I want to make but if you find anything that doesn’t look quite right please let me know and we’ll get it sorted.
Couldn’t be happier with it though and thanks again to everyone involved in creating it.

Here are a few pics from our Radical SR1 race weekend at Snetterton a couple of weekends ago. It wasn't my best race weekend as the weather really threw up a few challenges and I just don't have the confidence in the wet but it is always great fun to drive the SR1 and we survived unscathed which was more than can be said for some.

    Hi Everyone,
The plan has always been to run our Boys Toys Day every other year but I always seem to buy a new car and then I just get the urge to organise another BTD, yep it's another Lotus, I really should stop looking on Pistonheads at all the temptations really, so as ever if you have an interesting car of any kind please feel free to come along, it’s just a good excuse to get your car out for a blast really and to mingle with fellow petrolheads.
For this year’s event we are going to do something I have fancied doing for a couple of years now, basically we have hired Rye House Go Kart track for the afternoon and hopefully we can fill up the 26 car grid with HiFi Lounge customers and we can all go racing, what could possibly go wrong.
    The Timetable
So the plan for the day, well there are several ways people can come along really to enjoy the day, please see below -
As ever everyone is welcome to come to HiFi Lounge for 9am onwards where we will park everyone’s cars out the front of the shop and have a BBQ breakfast of bacon and sausage rolls with tea or coffee, we will have all the demo rooms running blasting out some tunes, we’ve done this a few times now and we always get a great turnout, you don’t have to have a sports car or supercar, just anything that is interesting and your pride and joy, all petrolhead welcome, it is just an excuse for a drive, then we will head over to Rye House for the afternoons racing action, a nice drone shot from our BTD 2017 below, thanks @Bibs 👍

    Let’s go racing
Rye House is a brilliant outdoor Go Kart track based at Hoddesdon, Herts, in my opinion it is one of the best in the country, this is where Lewis Hamilton spent a lot of his time racing and practicing when he was much younger, I have raced here many years ago in the past so really looking forward to re-visiting this old haunt as it looks like it has had a lot of redevelopment lately, please see below for a video the BBC did with Lewis at Rye.
    Cost
The Go Karting is going to cost £85 per head, places are limited to 26 cars in total so if you do want to join us please let me know asap to avoid any disappointment.
If you are attending the Go Karting you can either come to HFL first or meet us at Rye House or if you’d like to spectate please feel free to come over to watch the chaos.
The track action starts at 2pm with a briefing from 1pm so we will look to leave HiFi Lounge around midday for the 45 Minute drive to Rye House so it will be cool to go over in convoy.
Please find more about Rye House on their website below -
    www.rye-house.co.uk
    Format
So the format for the day is briefing at 1pm, a 15 minute qualifying session at 2pm and a 45 minute race after that so it is a decent length race which will really get your arms aching towards the end as there are a couple of fast corners, then there will be trophy presentations afterwards.
Rye house supply helmets and race suits but obviously if you have your own you can use those.

    RSVP
So that is it really, a day of cars and racing, what’s not to like, should be good fun, if you do fancy joining us on track please let me know on the below e-mail address, I will need payment of the £85 beforehand as I can see this getting a lot of interest so to guarantee a place payment via Bank transfer would be appreciated but we can take card also.
    [email protected]
All we need now is for the weather to realise it is actually summer and let’s all hope it is a hot and sunny day, so to sum up please feel free to come over to HFL for just the morning car meet or feel free to join us on track at Rye or just come over to spectate if you like.
Really can’t wait for this Boys Toys Day myself, just hope I don’t get beaten on track too badly.
Hope that all makes sense but any questions please feel free to get in touch.
    Many thanks
    Regards,
    Paul.

    Hi Everyone,
Another quick blog to just say that we now have the new Chord Etude amplifier on permanent demo, this is a total re-design of Chord’s amplifier topology and although it may look small at 150 watts per channel it will drive most speakers with ease and at a cost of £3900 it won’t break the bank.
I set it up for a demo yesterday comprising of a Melco N1ZH into the Chord Hugo TT2 and M Scaler into the Etude driving the new PMC Fact.8 Signatures and I have to say that it really did sound particularly sweet giving great separation and transparency along with speed and a certain delicacy, as a system it really works and it also has the advantage of being a very stylish system that on the electronics side is quite small so it is a win win.
The Etude is now on permanent demo so if you ever fancy a listen please feel free to pop in for a listen.

    Hi Everyone,
Just a quick heads up to say that we now have the brilliant PMC Speakers new Fact.8 and Fact.12 Signature speakers now on Permanent demo, the fact range has always been popular with our customers, one because they look quite discreet so can fit in with a lot of peoples living spaces but mainly because they sound so good, I have always said that the Fact.8′s are one of my favourites and I have had Fact.12′s at home for a couple of years now and I have to say that the new Signature versions really are a step up, they just seem to have another level of engagement which is saying something as the originals certainly weren’t lacking in that department.
Anyway if you fancy a listen anytime please feel free to get in touch to arrange a demo, we are also happy to look at any trade in you may have.

    PMC MB2 SE’s On Demo

In other PMC news, at the moment we also have the awesome MB2 SE’s on demo, these really are the speakers that inspired Wendy and Myself to start HFL as we had a pair for home around 10 years ago and I got so addicted to them I left my job as a printer, sold our house to free up some cash and start HFL which was the best decision of my life, so thanks PMC for giving the world the MB2 SE’s

    Hi Everyone,
Exciting times ahead as we get ready to launch our new website, it has been quite a while in the making but the end is in sight and I just wanted to share this short video we have shot, this is the 1 minute version and the director’s cut ‘Lord Of The RIngs’ Mammoth 2 minute version will be on the new websites homepage once launched.
I’d like to thank Ian at IDB-Creative for doing a brilliant job as he didn’t have the best material to work with in all honesty but once I saw the final edit I was over the moon, please find a link to his website below -
    https://www.idb-creative.com/
I actually didn’t realise I was going to be in the video in all honesty, so sorry if it is more of a video nasty but hope you enjoy it, I think it paints a pretty good picture of what we offer and the level of customer service we strive to achieve.
Enjoy and Look forward to hearing people’s thoughts, hopefully
    Cheers,
    Paul.

    Hi Everyone,
I really don’t know where the time goes but we’ve been setting up since 7am this morning and now at 6pm we are nearly finished getting everything ready for tomorrow’s PMC Speakers Fact Signature Launch event and I have to say we have 3 brilliant sounding rooms, these new Fact Signatures are seriously good, please see an overview of each room below.
All we need now is for the weather to actually realise it is summer as we are still ploughing ahead for a BBQ tomorrow
    Room One - Fact.8 Signatures
I’ve got a real soft spot for the original Fact.8′s, they really are quite unique and the Signature iteration seem to have taken them up another level, I can see it will be a late night tonight.
For this system we are running a Melco N1ZH into the Chord Electronics M Scaler and Hugo TT2 combo into the PMC Cor amplifier, this system really is singing.

    Room 2 - Fact.12 Signatures
I run the original Fact.12′s at home so really looking forward to sitting down and getting to know the new Signatures, for this system we are running them on a full Naim 500 System, there has always been a great synergy between PMC and Naim and this certainly continues with this system.

    Room 3 - Fact Fenestria’s
I know these are not really part of the launch event but they are part of the Fact range and if you’ve got them sitting around then why not fire them up, these really are incredible speakers and to help get them really singing we are driving them with a pair of the incredible Bryston 28B3 Mono’s fed by a dCS Rossini and Audio Research Reference 6 Pre, very nice indeed.

Anyway we’ll be kicking off around 10 am tomorrow so look forward to seeing everyone during the day.
    Cheers,
    Paul.

Goodwood Festival of Speed 2019, Meeting my Motorsport Hero!

    Hi Everyone,
I’m sure loads of you have attended the Goodwood Festival of Speed over the years, I actually went to the very first one way back in 1993, it was almost like a garden party back then, and I have been going on and off ever since and have seen it grow massively over the years and it is still an incredible event to attend. Now I wasn’t going to go this year but a couple of weeks ago I read that a particular car was going to be there, now I was sceptical if it would be the actual car as it was also supposed to be paraded before the start of Le Mans this year but that was actually a replica, I am a bit of a nerd when it comes to this particular car, but I really didn’t want to risk missing this car coming over to the UK, I was actually planning to go out to make the trip to see it is it’s normal museum residence in the states so this actually seemed to good to be true.
But anyway I got there Friday morning at 7am and started my hunt, it isn’t easy trying to find one car amongst thousands at the biggest car gathering in the world, but after a couple of hours I saw those iconic Gulf Colours out the corner of my eye, I rushed over to the car and to my amazement it was the actual Ford GT40 Chassis Number P/1075, I actually really couldn’t believe that I was standing next to such an iconic car and it was just sitting there with no security and to be honest most people probably didn’t realise the significance of this particular GT40.

I have seen it read many times that it is considered the most valuable race car in the world today and as I mentioned it normally resides in the Henry Ford Museum in Detroit where I was planning to go to see it so I really never thought such a piece of history would be in the UK and be so accessible, I guess that is the power of Goodwood, So why is it so special? Well basically it is the only car to win Le Mans on 2 consecutive years of 1968 and 1969, I guess most car enthusiasts will know that Ford was in talks to buy Ferrari and when they fell through Henry Ford made it his mission to beat Ferrari at LeMans which he did for 4 consecutive years from 1966 to 1969 with the GT40, actually there is a big Hollywood film coming out later this year about this story, anyway not only is GT40 P/1075 remembered for it’s 2 wins it is also considered the winner for the greatest Le Mans race of all time in 1969 where is won by only 100 meters after 24 hours of racing, changing the lead 5 times on the last lap with the faster Porsche, you can view the video I took at Goodwood of Jackie Oliver discussing this incredible win below -
Finally another iconic moment of the 1969 race was that Jacky Ickx made a protest about safety at the start of the race, this was when the drivers used to race across the track to their cars and speed off without doing up their belts til they got down the Mulsanne Straight to get a quick start, so Jacky walked slowly across the track, climbed in, did his belts up then left the grid in last place and as it happened there was a big crash on the first lap where John Wolf was killed as he hadn’t done up his belts to get a quick start, so in the end with Jacky Ickx and Jackie Oliver behind the wheel they fought their way from last to win with Ickx crossing the line by the smallest of margins after 24 hours, quite incredible.
Anyway it was an amazing day and a real honour to see P/1075 up close and personal, I probably looked like some weird stalker as I spent all day admiring the car taking loads of video’s and pictures and I really struggled to leave at the end of the day as the chances are it may never come back to the UK again but at 8pm I dragged myself away.
There are a few more video’s on our YouTube page below and probably far too many pictures below.
    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPJOUerA5TrUPs0HpWORopg?view_as=subscriber

Jacky Oliver Re-United With P/1075 50 Years after it’s famous Le Mans win.

    Hi Everyone,
Firstly a huge thanks to everyone who came to our Naim and Focal Summer Party last weekend,, it really was an excellent day and great to see so many familiar and new faces, it was certainly one of our most popular open days to date and was a lot of fun but at HFL nothing stops so it is now time to start promoting our next Open day.
So anyone who knows us at HFL knows we are big supporters of PMC Speakers and we’ll basically use any chance as an excuse to have a PMC Open day so with the launch of their new Fact Signature range we have the perfect opportunity so have decided to do a launch event in conjunction with PMC on July 20th.
Personally I have always been a huge fan of the Fact range, the Fact.8′s have always been a favourite of mine with their amazing resolution and speed and I currently run fact.12′s at home so I for one can’t wait to hear the new and improved Fact Signature range, speaking to PMC the biggest difference with the new range is in the crossover as they learnt so much from the development of the mighty Fenestria that that technology has now trickled down to the Fact.8 and Fact..12 to give a more open and transparent sound apparently, can’t wait to hear for myself.
    Fact Demo Rooms!

So for the Fact open day we will be running the new Fact.8′s on the PMC Cor amplifier in our upstairs demo room, this is bound to be a great match, we will then run the new Fact.12′s on our Naim 500 system as we have a lot of Naim customer’s that run PMC speakers as there is such a great synergy between the 2 brands, then in the final room we’ll have the awesome Fenestria’s running with Bryston 28B mono blocks which really do get the best from the speakers, so that really should give 3 pretty awesome sounding rooms.

    Upgrade and Save Offer!
For one day only on the open day we will be offering you a chance to save 10% off any PMC Speakers if you upgrade your current speakers, basically trade in your existing speakers and we will give market value to save you the hassle of selling them yourself, the only speakers excluded from this offer are the Fenestria’s, so please get in touch to discuss the options and to get a price for your current speakers.
Please find a link to PMC on our website with current prices -
    http://hifilounge.co.uk/pmc-speakers

    RSVP.
We will have representatives here from PMC to help run the day and answer any questions you may have and if the weather looks like it is going to be kind we will fire up the BBQ again, if you’d like to come along could you please fire me over a quick mail so we can get a rough idea on numbers, thanks -
    [email protected]
Look forward to seeing everyone on the day and having a good listen to the new Fact Signature range myself.
    Regards,
    Paul.

Hi Everyone,   The races are coming thick and fast this year as we were at Brands Hatch this past weekend for race 5 & 6 on our calendar, unbelievably we are now half way through the season, I was really looking forward to racing at Brands again as I really enjoyed it last year but the weather really had different ideas.   In all honesty I much prefer dry conditions, especially at Brands as it is a track that really rewards a little attack but for the Friday test it was pretty much wet all day, we woke up Saturday morning to more rain and a drying qualifying session that got quicker with every lap which made it tricky to know how much grip there was but the weather looked promising for both races. Race 1   So for race 1 we are all in the assembly area where we gather 20 minutes before race start, all on dry tyres but in the distance we could all see this very dark and menacing cloud getting closer and closer and then with only a few minutes to go the heavens opened as everyone was running around swapping the tyres over from dry’s to wets, it was all a little chaotic but I have to say a big thanks to the team who did a stellar job getting the car ready under pressure for the race start.   I must admit at the start of race 1 I really had no confidence, I actually think I drive my van quicker in the wet, but anyway at least I survived with a top 10 finish which when the conditions are like this then I’ll take that, below is the first lap of race 1 where you’ll see 2 cars spin off then another hits the pit wall at the end of the lap, all very entertaining   Race 2     For race 2 it was almost DeJa Vu as the track had dried out between races and what looked like the same cloud was hovering again in the same place but luckily the wind changed direction and the race stayed mainly dry, I was a bit hesitant at the start and got overtaken by a couple of cars then 2 cars went off into the barriers at Paddock Hill bend so we spent quite a bit of time behind the safety car then I had a great race with one of my competitors, I knew I was quicker but I just couldn’t find a way past but in the end with 2 laps to go I found an opening, overtook and pulled away but before I knew it the race was over, another top 10 finish though so could have been worse.   Have to say it was a brilliant weekend though where we had every condition to deal with in true British summertime fashion and it ended up being a lot of fun and the car stayed in one piece which was quite an achievement in my book.   Snetterton next at the end of July, I really hope this is a dry one and that I can attack more as I am a fair bit quicker this year so really want to race with the mid pack more as I have been racing more this year and it really has wetted my appetite for more.   Anyway please find a few pics below, thanks as ever to Ollie for taking some brilliant pictures and to the guys from 360 Racing for their support and our great HiFi Sponsors   Cheers,   Paul.

    Hi All,
This is just a quick blog to say that we have just bought on IsoAcoustics as a new brand + we have some interesting new isolation supports from Quadraspire.
As a quick overview, isolating your equipment and speakers can really help get the best from them, on speakers it can tighten up the bass which helps free up the midrange and when used on certain electronics it can really help focus the sound, the name of the game though is to try them under different components to see where you get the biggest gains in my opinion.
    IsoAcoustics
With IsoAcoustics they do the Giaa range for under your speakers, there are 3 different models depending on the weight of your speakers and they also do the Orea range of isolation pucks that sit under your equipment, again there are 3 different versions, depending on the weight of your equipment, we have the whole range on demo so if you’d like to try any please feel free to get in touch to try in here or at home, we have actually sold quite a few of these for both speakers and kit and everyone has been really impressed, I have to say that it helps that they are beautifully made and look pretty cool and they don’t cost a fortune also.
Please find more info below -

    Quadraspire QPlus Supports
When it comes to HiFi Racks then Quadraspire really are up there with the best, the X Reference really is very popular with our customer’s and rightly so as it looks stunning and performs brilliantly.
So what Quadraspire have done with their new QPlus range or equipment supports is offer 3 shrunk down versions of their racks to help isolate your equipment and they really do work wonders, you can read more below on Quadrapires website -
    https://quadraspire.co.uk/hifi-supports.html
We have a really nice presentation case that we can lend out to you if you are curious and would like to try them at home, it is great as you can now have a bit of X Reference under all your kit, now that has got to be a good idea, seriously though if you’d like to experiment with this please feel free to get in touch as these really can help un-lock the true potential of your system.

    Cheers,
    Paul.

    Hi All,
So our next open day is approaching fast on June 22nd and the last time we has a big Naim Summer open day it was our most popular open day to date with well over 100 people coming along to enjoy some good music, the gardens and a BBQ as it really was a great summer occasion, here’s hoping the weather is kind again so we can enjoy a similar day.
For this open day we will be holding it as a joint Naim and Focal event and also for all the Petrolheads out there Bentley Cars will be bringing along one of their gorgeous cars with a full Naim sound system installed for everyone to enjoy. We will be running 6 demo rooms on the day so please see below for what each room will be showcasing.
    Naim Lounge

For many this will be the main draw as we will be running our full 500 System with the awesome ND555 being driven double barrel with 2 x 555PS’s, this will be driving a pair of the eye catching £45,000 Focal Maestro Utopia Evo speakers so this room is definitely one not to miss.

    Upstairs Demo Room

For this one we thought we’d do something a little different so we will be running a Focal Kanta surround sound cinema setup with full Atmos and using Sony’s VPL-VW570ES 4K and HDR Projector so please feel free to bring some discs of your favourite movies to try and we will also have plenty of 4K Blu Rays of the latest blockbusters to show.

    Downstairs Entrance Room

For this room we will have the new Muso 2 doing it’s thing with Naim representatives on hand to run through all it’s new features.
    Highend Room
For this room we will be showing a classic Naim system comprising of the NDX 2 with a NAC 282, NAP 200 into a pair of Focal Diablo Utopia Speakers, again this room is bound to sound excellent and is at a more affordable price point compared to the Naim room setup.
    Headphone Room!

This is an easy one as Focal really do have a brilliant range of headphones now at many price points and we will also have the new Focal Arche headphone amp on show so if you like your headphones there is plenty to explore here.
    Bentley Cars

For the 6th demo room it is something a little different, as many know as an option on a Bentley Car is a full Naim sound system so we are really lucky that Bentley will be bringing a car along that will have a full Naim sound system installed for everyone to listen to, this will be parked in the front courtyard so make sure you don’t miss it.
    BBQ in the Gardens

We are very fortunate at HFL as we have some truly beautiful gardens here so once you have explored all the HiFi delights why not spill out into the gardens for some refreshments and relax with fellow music lovers for a chat and weather permitting we will be firing up the BBQ.
    RSVP Please!
Bearing in mind that we are expecting this to be a busy day if you are planning to come along can you please just fire me over a quick mail to confirm to the below, ta -
    [email protected]
Naim and Focal will be bringing along a few representatives to help run the day and answer any questions you may have so we all really look forward to seeing everyone on June 22nd, the event will kick off around 10am until everyone has had enough.
    Many thanks,
    Paul & Wendy.

    Cadwell Park Race Weekend Report!

    Hi Everyone,
This is just a quick one as I wanted to share my quickest lap from last weekend as I feel that I probably did my best lap yet in our Radical SR1, it is a slow process getting on top of these cars but everytime we go out we get a little bit faster which I guess is all I can ask for.
My problem is that I love chasing lap time and here I can find reasonable speed now but I go slower in the races for some reason, not ideal I know so just need to treat the races like qualifying.
This past weekend at Cadwell Park went pretty well, closed the gap to the front guys again, have to say that I absolutely love cadwell Park, probably my favourite track of the year, it is a stunning location and the track really is quite technical and challenging but it definitely rewards an attacking driver and getting air at the mountain is definitely a unique experience which keep you awake.
So I went 4 seconds quicker than when I was Cadwell last year, I put it down to my new helmet design, if I knew it was going to make that much difference I would have done it earlier I was concentrating on carrying more speed into the corners which I am getting the hang of now, for once the below lap actually looks reasonably fast whereas last year they looked pretty pedestrian.
I was mortified when I got home to watch my lap and find that the file was corrupted somehow but luckily I found some guys in California who somehow un-corrupted the file for me which was a huge relief, thanks guys.
So anyway here is the lap, for me it is worth watching just for how beautiful the track is -

    Hi Everyone,
Some more Munich news, this is quite a big one as I use Fact.12′s at home at the moment so the news of a new and improved Signature version is great news.
The Signature applies to both the Fact.8 and Fact.12, both have been extremely popular speakers over the years so the fact they have been given a re-fresh can only be good news.
From what I can gather PMC learnt so much from developing the epic Fenestria, especially the crossover, that they have now passed that down to the Fact.8 and Fact.12 to give a more open and insightful sound whilst reatinging their sheer musicality.
I’ve always had a soft spot for the Fact.8 as it is quite unique in its presentation, extremely quick, open and resolved so I can’t wait to hear the new Signature version, we’ll have these on demo shortly.
They are available in White Silk or Metallic Graphite which sounds quite interesting but I have to say that I think they look really cool in white so I may order a white pair for demo.
The good news is that the prices are staying the same, so £6995 for the Fact.8 and £14,495 for the Fact.12.
Please find a few pictures below and if you’d like to book a demo anytime please feel free to get in touch.

    Hi Everyone,
The Munich news is coming thick and fast with Chord Electronics announcing 3 new products.
    Huei Phono Stage

So Chord over the last few years really have been known as the kings of digital but they have always made brilliant Preamps, Power amps and sources etc but I have to say with the Huei they have perhaps designed the coolest looking Phono Stage around and I can see this being as big a success as their Qutest Dac, with which it shares a similar form factor, especially considering the vinyl revival we have been enjoying for the last few years.
It caters for both MM and MC Cartridges and will be compatible with most cartridges out there thanks to its wide range of gain and impedance settings which are easily accessible from the front panel controls, no jumpers here, and it also caters for RCA and XLR outputs.
Priced at £990 I can really see this flying off the shelf, it is available in black only from late summer, we have already ordered our demo model so can’t wait to give it a try.

Ultima 2 and 3 Mono Power Amplifiers
Late last year Chord unveiled their awesome Ultima mono Power Amplifiers, priced at £30,000 each these were definitely not for everyone, but now this tech has tricked down to 2 more affordable offerings in the Ultima 2 at £18,360 each which outputs 750W RMS and the Ultima 3 at £11,000 each which gives 480W RMS each channel, granted still not cheap but they are guaranteed to pack a punch and if you have a highend system then these would most definitely be worth a listen.
Please see below for a description from Chord on the Ultima Range -
‘The ULTIMA topology is incredibly powerful with an extraordinarily high peak output current (the speed at which the dynamic peaks can be delivered), bringing astonishing dynamics, fidelity and unrivalled musicality. ULTIMA is a truly unprecedented amplifier topology with exceptional performance and is one of the most advanced amplifier technologies in the world.’
These are all hand made over the course of several days Chord’s HQ in Kent and are available to order now, I hope to have a pair on demo later in the year.

    Hi Everyone,
It is a big few days coming up with the Munich Highend Show over the next 4 days so expect plenty of big announcements.
Naim are first to kick of the new releases by announcing the new Muso 2 or Muso 2nd Generation as they like to call it, have to say I didn’t see this coming but it has been 5 years since the original Muso was launched to great success so I guess after this time span then an upgrade makes sense.
Basically it does look quite similar to the original Muso but it has been thoroughly upgraded on the sound quality front but also on features, it now contains the streaming section from the latest range of Naim streamers so can now stream higher bitrates and it is also Roon ready which is great news.
The volume and control wheel has also been updated to offer much more functionality with 15 touch sensitive buttons and with the inclusion of an HDMI ARC socket then it really can be used as TV Soundbar / Music System.
You can read more on Naims website on all the new features, we now have the new Muso 2 on demo and in stock to take away on the day so please feel free to get in touch if you’d like to come in for a demo sometime -
