  1. I had issues with wheel balance and found road force balance machine was the answer.
  2. Does the clutch drag at all, or does it make a bit of a clunk when you put it from neutral into first. If it does it might just be that the fluid is contaminated or something. Try changing it and it might solve your problem.
  3. I think the 105 NM figure in the manual is for cold. Surely if the wheels and brakes are hot you wouldn't want them as tight, since they'll tighten as they cool and contract.

  5. Strangely it's not on the Williams website. Perhaps they've sold it already.
  6. Hi Ash you car looks to be in great condition.
  7. That's an incredible price - worth waiting for a bit in that case.
  8. Alex, you can get a towing eye from seriouslylotus.com. I think they are quite a bit cheaper than from lotus. Mine came from there and the quality seems good, although it's not been used yet.
  9. I got nearly 7000 miles from mine with one track day involved. They would have done a few hundred miles more but the car was at Lotus Silverstone ad they gave me price to replace that I couldn't beat just to get them mail order so I got them to do it.
  10. The soft top on my 2008 Elise was lined, as is the one I bought second hand for my exige. I think earlier ones were unlined. If buying a second hand lined one check it's not mouldy between the outer skin and lining as they can be prone to this.
  11. Don't Elise parts sell soft tops. You could also keep an eye out for a second hand hand one. I got one which is in almost perfect condition for £400. You can use an Elise s2 soft top or a VX one.
  12. You get a book, key ring, helmet and usb stick. The usb stick may be an exige as they ran out of gold F1 cars.
  13. Paul - I think my LF1 was built after yours and mine lights up. Crouchy is right that if you dim the dash a little bit they go off completely.
  14. I missed last year's one so would be interested too.
  15. Tyre and brake wear is not too bad but fuel is. You'll be getting less than 10 mpg so keep an eye on it so that you don't run out.
  16. Big cheer for Road Force Balance Machines - it has worked. The result was: Front right tyre that I had found the high spot in - No use New front right tyre fitted and balanced last week has a slight lump in it but cured by turning around the rim (the balance machine tells them exactly how much to turn it for best result). Left front tyre - miles out - now balanced. Left Rear - Was OK. The guy says this gave the best balance result he has ever seen. Right rear - Has a small soft patch that could not be resolved by turning around rim. He said that it IS safe to run and balanced it to the best he could . He said to try it and see whether it gives vibration. I fitted them and took the car out for a short trial and it all seems fine so finally we are sorted. I just hope I don't have to go up to Swindon every time I fit new tyres as its a 3 hour round trip plus the time to sort the tyres. This is the readout from the machine they gave me: TyrBalance.pdf Now I just have to try to get something back from Pirelli for the duff front tyre. Thanks all for your help and suggestions and if any of you have similar problems I can recommend Imperial Tyres in Swindon. TyrBalance.pdf
  17. Thanks for that Dave. I've just been to see the man with the road force balance machine so will report back when I've had a chance to try them.
  18. You mentioned this on the phone phone Dave when I bought the most recent tyre from you. I was watching carefully when it was put on. It only went to 45 psi and then the fitter waited as it slowly crept on the rim. This one was still out of balance when tried individually on the car.
  19. Had a quick chat with them. They will need me to take the car (obiously on the good wheels) and 4 new wheels so some logistics planning needed here. Also, if the wheels and tyres are ok, I would think it would be possible to balance them without the car. After all, we know the car is fine since the OE wheels work ok. I've also found someone with a road force balance machine in Swindon. I'm currently waiting for a chap from Pirelli to get back to me and, depending on what he says, I will take the wheels up to Swindon tomorrow.
  20. Good luck Waky. I will post the solution if this ever gets resolved. Losing hope as its been going on since July and I've sunk quite a lot of cash into it.
  21. Thanks Jack, I was reading about these today. There's a place about 30 miles from me have a machine so I think I will give them a try.
  22. I have an LF1 and had a set of Trofeo tyres which came from Lotus. I thought rather than fit them, I would get a second set of wheels and use Trofeos for track days and Corsas for road. I bought a set of new team dynamics wheels and had the tyres fitted. When fitted I got very bad steering wheel vibration from about 50 mph suggesting out of balance. I had them re balanced - still no good. I had the tyres turned on the rims and re balanced- still no good . I jacked the car up so the wheel just skimmed the floor and found one had a "high spot" on the tyre. I bought a new tyre and had that fitted and balanced. I still have steering wheel vibration coming in at around 70 mph. if I fir the original wheels and tyres the car is perfect. I've now spent a fortune on wheels and one replacement tyre and don't know what else to do. Any suggestions welcome. edited: I'm located near Bath and Bristol if anyone know a good tyre specialist to take it to.
  23. I like the film but don't think it was as good as Skyfall. As for the cars - I liked the DB10 but am totally smitten by the Jaguar in the Rome chase. Linky
  24. Very informative write up - Thanks. I wish I could have made it to that day. Beware though - it is possible to spin in tour mode. I did it in some standing water. The car kind of went sideways on a small kink. I could feel it trying to straighten things up but then it gave up completely and span. Thankfully fairly slow speed and didn't hit anything though.
