  3. yes i will be posting as i go. Is their a way to see how many esprit turbo cars came in blue (A16) from Hethel This car does have a overhead radio console on the ceiling as well. was that a factory option from lotus or a modification a previous owner made? i only ask that because their is obviously a radio on the dash that just doesn't look like it fits properly. as you can see in the picture above. connor

  5. Hello all I am going to be starting my lotus project in the coming weeks. Originally I was going to sell the car but have decided to challenge myself and start the rebuild process of a 1982 Lotus Turbo Esprit. While I am familiar with working on Turbo cars and have a nice mechanical/fabrication background I have never worked on a lotus. I have done a large amount of research over the past year after thinking I had come across an Essex car. Now knowing more about Lotus history and the car I am aware it is not LOL. My goal is to get the car back to the way it was when it left the Hethel plant for the first time. I will be logging all of my work on here and will definitely be needing guidance from this wonderful lotus community. But first things first I want to know if it is possible to get a full detailed spec list of the car from lotus so I know what has been changed over the years. I am aware that the paint, engine, trans, are all original. Any help on this first topic and many to come would be greatly appreciated. VIN: SCC082910CHD11405

  8. I don't know the exact date it was imported into the U.S. all I know is that it was shipped through a guy in the Airforce, so their wouldn't be any importation papers. The car is registered in New York state. I am going to go over all of the paperwork within the next few days. I meet with the manager of the lotus dealership today and he is talking to lotus in England this weekend to find more history on the car. I will be looking for the original European speedo gauge seeing that it was replaced with a US MPh gauge
  9. I would be doing all the work on the car including the paint. I k is a guy in my area that rsatires these cars for a living and he would be doing any motor work if needed. I am thinking in the $4,000-$6,000 range.
  10. He doesn't need to sell it now but was planning on it this next summer, that is in dollars. This guy pulled up the Haggerty price list on me which I think is very inaccurate when it comes to older European cars. He also has it registered as an 83. Would that be because the car was build in 82 and vin stamped, but sold in 83.
  11. Thank you for all of the information. The car is very clean and is all there. The only flaw is the clear coat is peeling off. 60,000 original miles. I found online prices from 3,000-8,000 for cars in this condition. Can you guys lead me in some what of a direction
  12. I was hoping you guys can help me figure out exactly what this is. I'm having trouble attaching pictures from my phone. It is a 1983 Esprit turbo (European) Giugiaro body Vin: SCC082910CHD11405 Interior : red Body color is the essex blue (A16) original factory paint. I am having trouble finding any other esprit turbos with that color from the factory. Can anyone help
  13. Update on the lotus I have been looking at. Turns out it is not a Essex car. It is a 1983 Lotus esprit turbo S3. I am having the owner of the lotus dealership in my town contact lotus with the Vin number to confirm everything. I have some questions about the car that I am hoping you guys can help me out with.
  14. Are all of those that were sold to the U.S. LHD. And seeing that this one I found is RHD original paint and has the dry sump leads me to have any doubts that's this is the original car.
  15. I will post more information tomorrow. All I can say rite now is that the car was brought to the states a long time ago by someone in the Airforce. Ramjet: thank you for the info and introduction to the forum. I hope I cane make a lot of people happy on here by bringing one of the missing essexs back to the public eye.
