  1. The aftermarket GT410 bumper is actually very good quality and is a direct fit. You may want to look at it more closely. Personally I'd add the splitter from the bottom photo in gloss black - it's half the price of the carbon one too.
  2. I chose Lotus for my first real sports car as: 1. It's built in a field in England by a bunch of turnip scarecrows 2. It has the feel (some would say build quality) of a car that was handmade by a time served engineer in his shed - the cars I swear are alive and breathing 3. When I bought the Evora, NONE of my friends, neighbours etc knew what it was - I liked the feeling of being different. Of being an individual 4. On my first test drive (which was after I had decided to buy it and placed a deposit) I just giggled like a kid 5. When I'm out driving it, people shout, stare and point - but not in a bad way 6. Women come up to me in the supermarket car park and compliment me on my choice of car (it has happened several times since I bought the Sport 410 new - it's the colour!) 7. I don't feel like a prick when I say i drive a Lotus - I would, if I said I drove a Porsche 8. When I'm out in the mountains and glens up here in Scotland, driving on my own, I just feel like I'm blessed - the noise (oh my god the noise), the steering, the scenery. Nothing beats it. 9. I love the history and the motorsport endeavours. The backwater upstart, taking it to the mighty Ferrari's, Fords, etc and using ingenuity and good old british inventiveness to get ahead
  3. He answered that question in the OP. But I do think that splitter looks great! "I know there are some aftermarket options but they aren’t a 100% match to the OEM bumper and I’d want to use all OEM parts. "

On cue, looks like Jos has been handled: Jos Verstappen backed into a corner Jos accepted there had been a power struggle admitting, “That’s part of it, but it is also necessary that there is peace in the team now. It’s necessary to get some calm again, but given the circumstances, it will take a while, I think.” Max’s dad further elaborated, “I can’t say much about it. Hopefully they can concentrate on racing again soon, because that’s what it’s all about. And it’s important that Max continues to win.” Jos was forced to back track on his comments about the team being ‘torn apart’ and admitted, “The car is running very well and between the engineers and him there is nothing wrong. For the most part, Max can switch off, but he gets a lot of questions about it.”
  5. Same time as this year. I'm sure you can work it out from that.

Yup. 106 GP starts No WDC No race wins 2 Podiums 17 career F1 points 55% retirement rate from a race 53% DNF rate (he was tough on the machinery and had an abrasive racing style - probably a bit like Mansell in that respect). 1998 fight at a go-kart track, 5 year non-custodial sentence for fracturing the victims skull after reaching an out-of-court settlement with the victim 2008 appeared in court charged with assaulting his wife and violation of a restraining order 2011 the media reported that Jos had assaulted his ex-girlfriend 2012 he was arrested on attempted murder charges following accusations he drove a car into his ex-girlfriend Thoroughly nice and decent chap by all accounts.

Both Max's parents were accomplished racers (I think his mother was more successful in her field!) and yes they groomed him from the get-go. He is a talented guy, but if I recall, even lewis had to break his fathers "strings" at one point as he was interfering/creating a side-show that was distracting from the racing and training. Max needs to do the same. A bit of tough love - "Dad, thanks for everything, now, please f@@k off and live your live and let me race!".
  8. Just back from two weeks in the False Bay area, south of Cape Town. Absolutely lovely holiday. The scenery, people, food, wine all excellent and the value for money astounding - in Stellenbosch, a 200g sirloin meal, plus a large glass of local, excellent wine, was 200ZAR, about £8.40, in a very nice restaurant! Drove all over the national parks and hiked to the top of the Cape of Good Hope. Probably, the best holiday we have ever had, and would highly recommend to anyone. We stayed at Surfers Corner, in Muizenberg, right on the beach. It's where surfing first started in South Africa and was were Agatha Christie, of all people, learned to surf! Utterly stunning part of the world and my wife is now "house hunting" in the area, and we have already booked to go back next year.

Or just telling him to back off and get on with his own life. I think it's quite said that Jos feels such a need to basque so heavily in the glory of his son's achievements. Maybe if he had achieved more himself he would be happier?
  10. Yes, it can be done. First port of call, look at the diagrams (includes all parts including washers!!!) on DeRoure. It will give you everything you need in terms of the parts numbers, and prices for each part. I warn you, it will not be cheap, however, once you have a list of all the parts forward it to @Bibs as he can get you a discount, through the TLF shop, on the parts. 10%, iirc which will be significant and a great TLF members benefit. Remember to budget for painting the bumpers too.

So I saw a news report today that stated the woman at the centre of the Horner allegations has a "close" relationship with Verstappen Senior. Horner has called Max's bluff and basically said if you don't want to be here, you're free to leave. And it seems that Horner now has the full support of all the stakeholders, which includes the Austrians, on top of the Asian investors. I do think Jos has been playing games behind the scenes. Possibly, I would suspect he is trying to get himself a "seat" at the table of the team as to be honest, he has no role to play whatsoever and therefore no income, from the team. I think Verstappen (both of them to be honest) need to belt up, shut up, and get on with driving (Max) and being a jealous, envious, vengeful, spiteful man (Jos).
  12. It's not easy to pivot, especially a second time, with something as large as this. Let's be honest, the pivot to Electric has cost Lotus (well, Geely to be exact) several hundred million, if not more, and has taken 5 years. To pivot back could cost the same, and take the same amount of time, again. When you look at the corporate level, the time, focus and cost to Geely of an incorrect strategy at Polestar, Lotus etc could be the end. It was a hasty and dumb strategy to kill off three cars, replace them with one, and then "hope" that electric was the right way to go. They probably paid a big 6 management accountancy/consultancy firm a huge fee for that "strategy". 🤔
  13. You're actually helping the Government to raise and use funds "cheaply" on stuff that helps UK society.
  14. My father spent quite some years at Crewe, where he was a coil winder - he would make and repair the coils used in the diesel and electric loco engines. They had a family open day every year and I used to love going and "exploring" the factory and seeing the loco's and engines in bits and various states of build and repair. Stumbled across an Intercity 125 power coach where the front end was looking stained and marked - I was later told that I was staring at all that was left of someone who decided to walk off a platform in front of it as it went past at 100mph! 🤢 Still didn't stop us playing on the railway that ran behind our house. It was the main London-Glasgow line and we used to play chicken with the express trains. Luckily (or not some may think) I survived this period of my life. My son's house has a fully cleared and floored attic room. All insulated with velux windows and power, and right now I am building him a wooden framework for a continuous table that goes around the perimeter, some 16m in length and 1.22m deep. He is going to put all our old Hornby stuff on it and add to it - when he is not in his "Lego" room building his lego - yes, I kid you not, he has a whole room in his house dedicated to Lego! After my son's "build", my next project in the garage will be a suspended and fold away Scalextric circuit with some scenery etc. It will be 3m by 2.4m, will fold in the middle and be suspended and stored flat against the wall. The design of the "build" has been interesting and a challenge, but it supports my other hobby which is woodworking. I built cabinets for key bits of kit like the bench saw, table saw, bench drill etc that all connected together to make a "continuous" wheeled workshop. This was a few years ago and I have designed a new modular workbench (thanks to some great videos and makers on YouTube) where the sections all connect to either make a 2.4m x1.2m flat topped workbench. The various tools will be housed inside their individual cabinets, with drawers etc, for storage of the various bits (allen keys, spanners, blades, drill bits etc). All of this is partly getting ready for when I fully retire - I'll then mostly (when we are not travelling) be found in my garage, every day, pootling about with woodwork projects and playing Scalextric lol.
