Just perusing the list and mines the only August car so far... Factory shutdown by any chance ?
-
So got the black dye from Scuffmaster and have done the lower black leather that had taken some damage over the years and now put the car back together. Not often I can get in the back of the Evora so took an unusual pic of the whole dash.
Airbag cover is not as flush both sides as Id hoped but its far better than it was. And the sound of the Focal setup is such an upgrade to the old Alpines.
Final job for this session was to match the brass copper mesh in the Carbon vent panels with the rest I did last year so out with the masking tape and the rattle can again
Next a quick trip to Ollie at Phoenix for a service including serp belt.

Yes, I was there for a day, a pal of mine had a 959 on show and we had complimentary tickets.
The fixation by some on Launch Edition is bizarre. It's not as if they had special features like an Essex Esprit or Exige LF1. If you want all 3 option packs, plenty of later NA have these and you'll most likely get CR gearbox which for me is a driving must. Sports Racer NA I get the appeal, (a) rare (b) different look.
NA is unquestionably the best looking Evora. 🙂

I on the other hand do get why people go for the LE , I've got one and must admit I didn't go looking for one but I'm glad it's the one I've got. Firstly in my eyes it's the closest to the design intent for the project, after the LEs changes came in to (a) make it cheaper to make , (b) Evolve the design language and (C) fix the bits they got not quite right , (C) gives you something to do. Also when I was hunting for cars in my price range few I found had all 3 packs bar the LEs which surprised me.
The CR Vs LR box arguement is a personal thing , I'm quite happy with the LR box , knock it in 6th for effortless cruising and the other 5 for everything else... Maybe that's after coming from a S2 111S Elise though.
As for the SR look, it's not overly difficult or expensive to replicate.
But just my opinion..

So here's the question , I'm at the point where I can start re assembly BUT I haven't got the black scuff master to touch up the sills/kick panels etc so do I a) wait , send of the smallest of samples as there isn't any decent sized excess on any panel in the hope that can match it , (B) just order their standard black as well black is just black anything else is a shade of grey or (C) just start putting it back together and get it out whilst the weather is good ?

Thanks Dave , yeah your thread has been as much of a source of info as the handbook or B&C parts website. I saw the work you did on the airbag cover, a bit of me doesn't want any additional metal in there so it's currently clamped together with some stronger adhesives after I spent half the afternoon getting the old what I think was epoxy out of the joint.
-
So it's interesting when you pull a car a part what you find. Not sure what @Daveb99 car was like being another LE but mine has been apart before . All the major joints have already been cloth taped to stop squeeks and creaks some had dried out and come loose so that's being replaced , and as well as the bodged airbag cover and a few missing fastenings it has 2 FM Ariel's one in each A Pilar, passenger side has the original early model one that looks like an old school outside pole on a massive ground plane and in the driver's side the later tape type with the small ground plane. I've been using the old LE one with a digital splitter quite happily so I'm thinking of stripping the later type out as part of the loom tidy up as the cable is tywrapped to the loom .
The seat bolster is now re coloured
Nice and even so I'm happy with that.
On top of that both tweeters are in the dash and the crossovers mounted, I've added new rivnuts so they could be kept vertical.
And the speakers are mounted in the doors I've not bothered with the additional sound deadening matting and foam in the doors ... It feels wrong adding the weight .. So slow progress but progress

So progress last night and today, Interior spread across the garage
A rat's nest of wiring a chuck of which can go now the alpine systems gone.
And ive found out why my airbag cover is lifting at one corner... Bodge glued on to the metal plate with a fairly thick wodge of some sort of gloup which is going to take a bit of removal to get the corner back to a level

@Cdm2018, I'm not planning on doing , I've not pulled anything apart enough to see if there are any issues that need looking at but my sub is working so assumptions are at the moment nothing remedial is needed there . I know people criticise the subs but its good enough for my ears/what gets played on it.

So it slowly continues , been too many things going on over winter this year for the usual big jobs but starting to gather bits for a few freshen up jobs.
So interior Lights now White LEDs , cloth tape and Focal AS165s , Paprika Red Leather Dye and also
New mats courtesy of Our Glorious Leader . Just need find a decent sample of the black leather used on the sill panels to send off as a sample for more leather dye as they don't seem to have that on file and for a few bits to turn up from B&C , airbag clips and new MY12 all leather door pulls handles before I pull the interior apart.
-
I emailed them (there's a thread in the Evora projects bit can't remember which one it's just not mine) with the email address and they've sent me the Paprika one for the same problem . I think they've had a fair few of us send swatches etc so they have a good supply of the seat colours . Next I'm going to send a sample of the black on the door sills so they can make a match for that black as it's got similar scuffing from where you get catch your feet on the way in.

They do. It makes lifting your feet over the wider part of the sill much easier. Pain in the ar$e it's not electric though and can remember your front position
You'd take for ever to get out waiting for electric seats to move all the way back !!!

Cdco All the pipe work is 76mm internal diameter, the T piece is 76/76/25 although 20mm would be better with a further reducer to 15mm for the breather. The 76mm pipe work fits over the throttle body no problem. Cheers Neil.
Neil thanks just on the ASH website....

Something like that. Perhaps slightly less for fronts. Forged wheels are hella expensive, cheapest on market for Evora are BC Forged from HethelSport, about 3300 USD from memory (before shipping and taxes)
All I know is when Ollie at Phoenix saw mine had them he just said they were an "expensive" option when the cars where spec'd

Photos a bit low res to tell whether it has the sports exhaust. Does have the forged wheels though, expensive option and makes the price sound pretty good!
Those exhaust tips look just like the ones on mine so at punt it's the Janspeed/Lotus sports exhaust.
Good for him if he gets close to the asking for it as it looks like the negative twin of mine when I got it including the forged wheels just with lower miles.

This is on Auto Trader - seems ok but at 71K miles
Lotus Evora 2010 (10 reg) 3.5 VVT-i V6 2+0 Coupe 2dr £26,500
That looks a good exterior colours combo but has some one sprayed the interior brushed steel black and left the buttons steel ?

Clive, no I don't and half the time I forget to take the photos as well. If I took video it would no doubt need so much editing to get it through YouTube's profanity filters there would be nothing left to watch. If I was more organised taking more and better photos you could I guess piece together step by step guides but I'm always in too much of a rush to get it done and just documenting bits n pieces as and when I remember to.

Over the summer between runs out and TD's a couple of other little jobs were done. Firstly I changed the clutch slave cylinder, for some reason this hadn't been replaced when the Gearbox was out for rebuild and the clutch replaced. Seems bonkers for the cost but now its done and the Shift to second is better and I'm used to it but I might just have a crack at adjusting it a little more and lubricating as others have done.
Also the other half was grumbling about the inability to get warm feet on runs due to the cold air blast into the foot well so after a bit of googling and some more 3D design and printing I've put a valved baffle over the recirc slot behind the fuse box that stops the reverse flow and allows a level or re-circ when selected , though I hardly use it.
appears to work ok no more cold feet and recic works on lower settings if needed, depending on what I do next month I might re print it with a few tweaks and fit 2 as due to printer size I could only print it half the size of the slot and the other half just has a blanking plate.
Also replaced both Pre cat Oxygen Sensors due to an intermittent MIL light and had the Geo Done by Ollie at Phoenix.
New rear disks have gone on, disk bells sprayed with dark grey HTP as I couldn't stand how much rusty metal was visible behind the wheels and did a full bleed with Motul RBF600 and none of which I photo documented.
That was it for 21, apart from using it , so just now writing the list for 22 and deciding how much how far......

So to close down the "work to date" before I start this years jobs list in March, Like a couple of other threads.
First one after smacking my head on the boot lid a few times as it slowly lowered itself when open, so new struts in :
using the obvious industry standard safety prop...
Then sort the obvious issues with the interior and worst was the the leather shrinkage on the instrument binnacle cover, I know some have recovered but that is way beyond my skill set and probably patience , so new one ordered. Old one on the left.
Quick yank and hey presto swapped out, probably the easiest fix I've done on this journey.
And finally for this set of updates the old LE specific it I think Gear knob was looking tired and had damage on its leather so off it came and on with the later one.... I'll leave every one else to the "cold knob in the hand in the morning" jokes.
Since fitting I spotted my obvious mistake and flipped it round to hide the grub screw hole.
Final thing for 21 was ti replace the missing LE sticker int he door jamb and as many have done a quick order with Dan at Divine and et-voila, I'm guessing mine was removed when the PPF was fitted.

This looks interesting for an EV , of all of them I quite like the polestar 2 and their first attempt the bonkers hybrid polestar 1 coupe was suitably mad as a first standalone car for the brand. As a performance alternative to the Taycan/etron derivatives this could be good. I'm just wondering which part of the Geely group provided the bonded extruded aluminium chassis technology ..... https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/new-polestar-5-supercar-handling-uk-engineered-ev?utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=News.

@trcm and @cdm2018 thanks gents more to come, but I'll have to turn you down on the offer of more cars to faff with , between the Evora and my lads Fiesta I spend more than enough time in the garage as far as my "boss" is concerned
