You are right they are usable for small children. A ten year old may be pushing it. Agreed about the reviews, they don't review the rear seats for their intended purpose. They are wonderful cars. Have you driven one yet?

Not yet Stu, in my head I've got it as a bit of a no-brainer already that I'll love the Evora having come from an Elise 111R. As much as I've loved my previous two Elise's (both daily drivers) the practicalities of the car and lack of creature comforts eventually wears thin, perhaps its an age related issue lol.

One of the only things that actually concerns me is whether I can get it in the garage, according to lotus's official measurements of the car it should just about fit.  Its difficult to tell from pictures but my garage looks no different to yours width wise and I see yours makes it in okay so fingers crossed.

  2. I've always been curious about how practical the Evoras back seats actually are for transporting young children.

It annoys me how the Evora S1 is ridiculed for the lack of space in the rear and videos (like 5th gear etc) use adults in their tests for comedy value to highlight how impracticle they are, yet in reality as we all know they're really designed for kids and no-one else. Why is there no informative videos out there showing the reality of whether these seats can actually be used?

I'll be getting myself into Evora ownership this year regardless of seating space as its just myself and my son (10 years) to worry about but it'd sure be handy if the back seats could come in handy for transporting his friends from time to time also.

  4. Thanks for the video, being a prospective buyer for an Evora very soon its great to see and hear any kinds of real world experience from current owners.

I love your SR model in particular because of those Venom Red seats, not something I've seen too often when scouring the 2nd hand market.

And this is where my comment from a while ago will be interesting to see how it plays out. When the 400 gets closer to the s1 SR will it stabilise or will it continue forcing prices down for all Evora models. The s1 SR's (closest on price to the 400's) don't hang around for a long time if they are good examples and prices have been the same for the last year.

I'm wondering if the S1 SR could become the model to have a bit like the S1 Exige??

I see the advert for the Evora S SR lookalike with the premium sport interior that was advertised for 38k has dissapeared now from Auto trader.

Didn't think it would hang around long once the price got reduced.  Just goes to show if you want what appears to be a well sorted Evora and its reasonably priced you had better be quick.

  6. Didn't realise the interior I'm familiar with seeing on Sports Racers could be added as an option so thanks for informing me.

I guess it doesn't make a difference whether its a SR or not, and as you've rightly pointed out the seller isn't hiding anything and is simply stating what he's selling at a price.  Im really only curious because although I'm at a point where I'm serious about looking at purchasing an Evora it is at the lower end.  The Sports premium interior really lifts the Evora and I'm now contemplating saving up a few more pennies to get this option.

I know this question may divide opinion but I'd love to know what you think. Does this car appear a little overpriced if its not an actual SR (assuming having the actual SR model may make a difference to residuals).

Whats peoples thoughts on this, looks absolutely lovely!

Could anybody clarify though, is this actually a Sports Racer model??  it looks like it judging by the interior and exterior pics but its not actually listed as being one and I thought going by the reg perhaps too early to be one also, am I right to believe that the earliest models were launched on 62 plates??

I kind of just zipped through that a bit as at work, but did the 'test' just consist of driving up and down a straight road???

Always the best way to benchmark a Lotus if it was!

Its a very amateurish review to be honest much like all his other reviews that he does on his own NA Evora.   I thought I'd add it to the thread though seeing as reviews on the Evora 400 are pretty few and far between and at the very least its shot with a nice quality camera.

There's also a great shot of the cup holder, which I know some of you current owners were getting a bit excited about not so long ago ;-)

  9. I too would personally like to see a powerfold roof on an Evora but with Lotus about to re-enter profitability for the first time in ages surely they need to continue to consolidate further before spending bucketloads on development costs etc.

Lotus and roofs don't generally seem to go too well and although fortunately my 111R doesn't have any leakage issues my previous S2 Elise and 2 x M100 Elan's were dreadful.  That being said if the Evora had a roof that actually worked and collapsed as easy as the Elan's did, I'd have no problem with that whatsoever.

A side of the Evora you rarely see on this thread... The inside! The lighting is brilliant, especially the lighting in the sides of the doors.

Just out of curiosity, do you know if that door lighting is standard on all Evoras that have the premium pack from the Launch Editions or was it introduced at a later date??

I am one of those people that like to see the car, drive it before making an offer...

the red one at Leeds was a bit of an odd one, the sales chap kept on putting me off saying it needs prepping and he would call me when its ready, 2 weeks later after the initial, he calls me to say it's sold....

and it looks as though I've missed cocopop's yellow one....

In a way I'm not surprised the one at Leeds went so quickly.  I guess somebody brought it on the basis that they believed it was good enough on the advert alone.

It did look to be remarkable value, I had this issue a few years back when Elise 111R's were being sold almost straight away.
