  1. I think I just passed Greg in his Elise? It's certainly bright in a dull and grey Thursday morning. I was a bit slow on the flash! @Gm77 Greg

I'm sorry you feel that way old chap. I don't recall an incident as you suggest, but I would say that wouldn't I.
  4. And for the record, I think Pork pricing is nuts. Anyways - this is a Lotus forum. My 4 year old thinks the 400 is a Lamborghini and insists on his mother sitting in the back with him upfront and I can't stop driving it at every opportunity. It's living up to its claim as a daily driver very well. Nothing quite like a healthy drive home in the evening after getting off the train, with the pipes open on the twisties.
  5. I guess I'm pointing out that there is a big difference between a GT race car and a bogo 911. It seems you might also agree? as I have said, I think the 400 is a far more attractive package than a bogo 911. For the record, I don't have interest in the new Porsche GT cars. The 7RS was probably the last drivers car.
  6. I may be getting confused between image and experience, but my 996 GT3 Clubsport was a more exciting, special, challenging adventure every time I got in it versus my 400. As stated earlier I think the 400 is not getting its deserved recognition. The whole point of it in my eyes, is that it truly is an alternative to a fairly bogo 911. When compared to this, the 400 is a more unique and exciting experience. it is however, not a Mezger screaming flat six (with Titatanium top end components) Clubsport with only power steering and ABS to help you along.

    Spa - 3rd April

Just thought I would drop a note as I am going on the RMA day with some buddies and will be taking the 400. Very much looking forward to it.
  8. So I have just clicked over 800 miles and other than H&T not used more than 50% throttle. Some high revs after 400 miles for short periods to seal those rings but not felt any real acceleration yet. So I have now tried Sport mode. Nice! The car feels far more alive, with better throttle response. My engine is clearly not loose yet so I have been a bit disappointed so far with throttle response, especially since I understood the FW to be fairly light. Sport mode is cool. I'm not sure if it's because I was just travelling that bit faster, but the dampening felt different. There are no active damper settings right? What a great chassis! Wahoo!
  9. Thanks. I have a very understanding wife! I've always look wide eyed at the Esprit. A truly great silhouette.
  10. I picked it up with it already on. The car came from Lotus Durham, I assumed this was factory. I'm rather fond of it!

Another Grey 400 here - I think it looks great with Red calipers, black pack, black forged wheels and Red racing stripe (this clearly makes it go faster!).
  12. I can't stop driving the 400 - so here is a 'real' pic.
  13. He he. she is a 2001 Porsche Turbo with a few mods. The timing chain snapped on her, so a thoughtful process of 'man maths' took over. The engine was rebuilt, with upgraded components (conrods, crank, injectors, hybrid turbos, higher torqued rods), KW suspension, LWFW, carbon buckets, half cage, switchable exhaust, 6 pot giro disc brake upgrade. I have done some of the work but none of the engine, power side. The '27' denotes the acceleration time to 186+ mph. She's probably running around 700 lb-ft and still in 4WD. She understeers on track, but I am rather a lazy driver! She is also my part time commuter car.
  14. Hi Dave i reckon I will need to book in for that 1000 mile check very soon. i continue to drive the 400 at every opportunity. New iSOfix car seat collected in the morning! thanks greg
  15. Smashing! With that I shall try to find the connector in Maplins and then join it to a generic ISO-wire harness. cheers
  16. Thanks for this. It looks like there is rather a lot of room, perhaps this is because the 990BT unit is an 'all in one'. Does Lotus use another manufacturer loom? Ie is the white connector from a Vauxhall or something? If not I shall try to find the same white connector and build a Lotus to ISO connector. I'm happy with the basic sound quality, I just don't want additional units like the EZI Dab etc cluttering the cockpit.
  17. Hi there i have just written a little intro about my car but already have a specific question.. i enjoy DAB in m other cars, specifically Radio 6 and the Huey show. so... I have bought the Alpine DAB add on and whipped the head unit out last night W990BT to have a look around. It seems that Lotus have not attached the full Alpine to ISO harness on the head unit but attached a custom one. It looks like it is missing the Headunit leads out to enable the attachment of the DAB unit. i wish to go all the way back to the Lotus, white loom connector. this would mean (other than adding a few grams of weight) Lotus to ISO, then ISO to headunit. This I think is cleaner and will allow me to swap the headunit out very easily if I can't get on with the current one. so.. does anyone know the source or spec of the Lotus to ISO harness??? many thanks Gregory
  18. Hi there Thia is my first new car and my first Lotus. Epic machine, I don't know how they have made a fairly conventional PU sound like a mini super car but I love it! I am using the 400 as my daily car commuting to the station and am looking forward to breaking my 1000miles so I can experience the PU properly. The 400 is a Sig Grey with black pack, black forged wheels and the red stripe across the top. Black leather inside. i think it looks Ace! I have a date with a sponge on Saturday morning and shall take some pics. i should add, great advice from reading the forums and videos from Jayem. best Gregory
