  2. Appreciating that this might not be entirely in keeping with the title of this thread, even if keeping it within the family... (also Pflanzgarten)
  3. This is part of the 430 Cup spec (and other Cup cars including Elise) and obviously provides some rollover protection in the event of flipping the car. It doesn’t appear to be a part of the 350/410 spec. To me, it would be quite nice peace of mind (without necessarily knowing all of its structural specification). Has anyone who tracks their car thought about retro fitting, or is there a view of necessity etc? It’s item 6 in this DeRoure pic:
  4. Generally I am not a fan of the 'spotted' type messages as they can sound a bit creepy. But I think I saw you heading into town on the A3 this morning with the roof off GF and to give credit where its due, the car did look v cool. I was going the other way in a British Racing Green F80 M3.
  5. If you want a second set of wheels - then I respect that. However, I drive to European track days with the wheels on the car, an electric tyre pump and a can of sealant (and a recovery service membership when I remember). The wet is also fine. I run an Elise Cup on R888R (sorry interloping here on the V6 forum) - I recently had a track day at Bedford and rain was torrential on the way up - my first wet one in ages - I was grimly looking out at the deluge from the pits and wondering if I should have just stayed in bed - but a friend coaxed me out on track and in fact we had a brilliant time. The tyres genuinely gripped much better than I expected, doing a decent job of clearing the water (ok maybe easier to push at Bedford where there is a wide track and plenty of run off). When it dried in the afternoon, we were on the perfect tyres. Following that, my friend who in the past has religiously incurred all the hassle of second guessing weather conditions and then changing wheels / tyres before the day also decided that he wouldn't in future bother and would just leave the R888R on. if you run something like a ZZR that has more flat surface and clears water less well, then it might be a different situation. I assume that something iike a Cup 2 on the Exige would perform similarly to the 888 on the Elise in the wet. You can do a pretty good season on the Elise and change the R888R's once a year or a bit less(!!). Welcome to the world of Lotus...
  6. Zzzzzzz they just want a clickbait headline to sell more copy. google around for the overly long gearing which kills the fun and protects the 911 etc had the first one and not looked back since selling...

This might not be exactly what some of you guys are looking for in terms of screen real estate - but does simplify and add lightness vs some of the above solutions... no stalk blockage, can access vents and controls. I use a Really Light Stuff phone mount with my phone in a quad lock case and then use for Spotify / Tom Tom app / harrys lap timer / Gopro control etc. With the quadlock you can either have the phone vertical or horizontal depending on the view that you want. The RLS Mount is available online and feels like it wouldn’t come off unless you have a big crash. Brodit offer a similar Lotus Mount for quite a bit less ££ (about £30 I think) which is slightly chunkier. I have a power socket in the passenger side A pillar dash cubby and can run a power lead to the phone if need be.

  9. I have had some pretty loud 2bular's in my time. Really depends on the model - I think that Jim's designs continue to evolve. The loudest is probably an ear plugs on the motorway job. But Jim @ 2bular should be able to give you a sense?

  12. I do like an Alcantara interior! On the harness bar, I'd probably wait to see before making any calls. You won't get to see much of it anyway given the shape of the seats vs cabin size - v different to something like a 911 where its pretty open at the back.

  14. You could also check with They do conversions with BMW engines and gearboxes into various cars (among others) and I believe were looking at putting a BMW M3 twin clutch auto into a v6 exige.

  19. Just booked Bilster Berg 27/7, Spa 29/7 with Lotus on Track. Looking forward to it!! Also have Goodwood in March and Brands May booked with LoT. Yep - the July Spa date last year was mega!! Did Tourist Fahren at the Ring on the previous Sunday evening last time. Will look at that for '19 once the Ring post up TF dates for 19.

I got this Momo airbag resistor from demon tweeks. any suggestions where it actually goes? and do I cut the horn wires or undo the plug and try to pull them out? any suggestions much appreciated - this is one job where there doesn’t seem to be much on YouTube that is lotus specific. starting to think this isn’t the best job for 10pm on Sunday night and I should retreat to the house... Any suggestions much appreciated!
