  1. I have a friend who's fitted those magnetic battery charger connectors to all his cars. He's learnt the hard way that the best place to put them is somewhere around the front grill. Then (assuming you park nose into the garage) when you drive away - forgetting that it's connected - it just detatches itself. No harm done.
  2. The most terrifying drive of my life was a Superlight 1600K on packed Belgian motorways, on ACB10s, no windscreen, in the pouring rain.

  4. I don't know about the MTC, but with the MPC Ron apparently worked out the exact size the internals of the building needed to be to avoid cutting any tiles, and then instructed Norman Foster exactly what size to build it.
  5. If you need to cut the tiles, then your vehicle storage facility is of sub-optimal size.
  6. Have a look at Pastorelli porcelain floor tiles, supplier to McLaren Production Centre. I can't imagine anything better.
  7. The problem is all these cars will presumably be specced and ordered by the dealers and held in stock.

  10. Forgive me being late on this, but just catching up on the purple discussion. I adore purple cars - thanks for the instgram link. I'm about to paint the new bits on my Model T speedster in Lotus Aubergine (the Elise S1 colour, but without any glitter). And I've had two other purple cars in the past. A Smart FourTwo back around year 2000 that was in Lamborghini Viola (the Jay Kay Diablo Colour) and a Caterham R500 K series that was Lamborghini Viola Ophelia. The Ophelia is a really gorgeous colour and one I'd happily have again. My wife has seen McLaren's Amethyst Black in the flesh and says it's utterly beautiful with a staggering depth to it, and I'd certainly get a paint sample of Ferrari Vinaccia to look at before making any future decision. FWIW the purple is a much better idea than pink. Also, loving the shadow chrome paint on your wheels.
  11. Are you planning on getting the gearshift and mechanism black anodised, or are you leaving it as is?
  12. I have a friend who is 6'4" and has a VX220. He's taken his seat off the runners and bolted it straight to the floor, he thinks that's worth a couple of inches headroom.
  13. Lovely car, nice to see silver wheels too. Parked next to an Ro80 I believe. I've a friend who used to own one, apparently owners used to wave to each other in passing - whilst holding up a number of fingers that corresponded to how many replacement engines they'd had fitted under warranty.
  14. I'm of the opinion that Matt Black is a difficult look to pull off successfully, unless you're Batman.
  15. I'd be off to the Alps, try and catch some Cols and passes before they close. Or better yet, if you have the time, the Atlantic road at the top of Norway. Take in the Laerdal tunnel on the way.
  16. Oh dear. All those lovely photos of various Lotus in the Alps. I just got back today from a few days playing above the tree line. I miss it already. Will be back again next year for the annual trip. This year we chose to go to the French Alps, previously we'd be based in the central alps. The thing I noticed is that the French Cols all look fairly similar (architecturally speaking). Over in Switzerland each Pass has it's own character. The Neufenen with it's concrete surface, The Furka with it's odd little posts and everybody trying to get the James Bond picture, The old Gottard with the cobles, the new Gottard with the big sweeping curves that you can just blast up. I think all things considered, I prefer going to Switzerland. In my wife's Porsche this year. Hopefully next year something a bit more special.
  17. We do a family holiday in Wales every year - but I don't get much time for driving. So a couple of years ago I headed up to Snowdonia with a friend. We had fun on that triangle, some beautiful mountain passes and then down the length of Wales to see the Hot Rods on the beach at Pendine Sands (brilliant BTW) and then home via the Elan Valley and the Brecon Beacons. Beautiful roads. Beautiful country.

  20. Don't buy a roadster. The roof on a coupe can be converted for relatively little money - it's a seperate removable panel. They are also top speed limited and don't have front diffuser or rear wing. I'm sure someone will be along soon to tell me I'm wrong. In the meantime, hello, and welcome. I've found this to be a very useful and friendly forum.
  21. Thanks for that film. I think the carbon seats are beyond my budget. I also find the standard ones surprisingly comfy. I don't know if anyone on here has seen the series, I think it's on Quest or Discovery, "How it's made". It a series about building supercars. Everything from Veyrons through to American Superformance GT40s. In the middle there's Koenigseggs, Porsches, Lamborghinis, Paganis, McLaren and obviously Lotus. The highlight of the series after seeing all this beautiful carbon being clamped in place on huge jigs and then glued or welded by robots is when they visit Morgan. I'm not kidding; there's a guy with a bottle of Evo-stick gluing the joints, screwing them together and wiping away the inevitable splurts and trickles of PVA with his fingers. It's like O'level woodwork all over again.
